Hopefully for his online release, it will begin regardless of if the deal has been made with the retail. For an opening date with his site/purchasing mp3's, It shouldn't matter who he is distributing with for physical copies. He can release the music at his convenience (a la online mp3 form).
Radiohead did this with In Rainbows, They released the album through their site for an immediate download without record label months prior to actually physically releasing it in stores. So all in all, no excuses. He has the power to open the site up tomorrow and still do his physical release at his convenience. If the music is good, it will sell regardless of what comes first or at the same time.

I'm sure this is the plan, and what he is anticipating.

I don't care to read much into the his visuals, but perhaps his pyramids on the site signify it will be released in a 3cd set. I don't know if he has stated how he plans on releasing it.. but I wouldn't think the Bria album would get much attention otherwise.

Keeping in mind Prince's spirituality my first impression of the new website is that it looks like some kind of Sanctuary.

I believe the 3, The "Ohm" The "e", represents The Trinity, The Supréme Divine Being.

God’s Sanctuary;

recognizing the potential we all embody...

I could be wrong, but it’s looks to me like there’s gradually being added more colour to the grey below, with each new day. I’m looking forward to what’s to come with patience and excitement.

I just think it's a bit of hackerism. You know how h4x0rs (hackers) like to spell 3133t (elite). I often use a 3 in place of an e when creating passwords.

So I think that the 3 has fuck all to do with any supernatural mumbo-jumbo and is just a way of showing that Prince is a little bit nerdy and like most other males of this decade probably just sits in of an evening playing Call of Duty 4 online.

I think I'll change my tag for newcomers to the Org.

And the other thought that went through my head when seeing the site was it could possibly symbolise East vs West. Perhaps Prince and his Heaven-sent music are uniting the two?

Perhaps the ocean (from whence life purportedly came) is slipping away? Does this reflect the world about us and that life between the timeline of the pyramids and the metropolis, ie roughly mankind's existence, has started to falter uncontrollably? The ocean we see (that is nearly gone) on the image is blue, suggesting calmness and life, whereas the skies have darkened and taken a unnatural almost menacing tone (perhaps the Heaven's have opened or the ozone layer destroyed?).

This can be further seen in the life, in the form of vegetation, upon the pyramids which contrasts with the barren rock formation presented beside the city. In such a short time have we killed life and wasted what was good? Irreparably.

In which case perhaps the 3 is one of a set which combine to spell out "333k!". Or "eeek!" for those less familiar with nerd-speak.

that site had so much potential, and for a period of about two months the "jam of the week"s were a real enjoyment for me.

but it only ever offered one download (guitar demo version) and then after a year or so it was all gone.

i just wish prince would stick with one idea/concept for his websites/female singers (where are the twinz these days? lol) etc for more than a year!!!
