Whining over a lousy $100

I've got to say it makes me laugh. How many of you blow that much every month on crap ya don't need? Do you drink beer or wine? Smoke cigarettes? Ever buy an "Import" cd for 50 or 60 bucks that sounded like crap?

I got front row seats, (all members had that chance) sang on stage with prince and I may or may not get some cd's that no one outside the club will get. Yes the NPGMC needs to get it together and keep us up to date and yes Prince needs to live up to the promises but do I think I got my moneys worth?

Let's see
Club membership $100
2 front row tickets to see Prince $250
Total investment $350

Compared to

2 front row tickets to see
The Rolling Stones in Houston $604
(don't believe me, check ticketmaster)

I would say I got a deal

So lighten up

$100 pal is alot of money to people who dont live in the USA because we have to pay exchange rates and for the use of credit cards etc. So maybe U are rolling init or mummy can afford to give you the cash out of her backpocket whenever you want it but I have to work for it and run a house. Besides any amount of money is alot when you get absoloutely nothing for it (or as close to nothing as the NPGMC can get away with). Woohoo ONE album and six photos which the stingy little tramp wont even put a "save as" facility on

Oh yeah and BULLSHIT...not all memebrs had the chance to get front row seats...because I am a member and I didnt get the chance mainly due to the horrific organisation of the way they were sold and then the denial by Ticketmaster that the shows were going ahead at all (they released one day at a time so the only date I could go for was, apparently, not a gig nite).

There are plenty of other people who had this problem too (check other posts).

If anyone SHOULD/COULD complain it's me.

First year I was not able to download ANYTHING.

So for the $166 for 2 years I will have
gotten ONA , ONA live and Rave In2.
Premium seats, sndck, Retail access.

I'm not complaining.

Just want as much music as possible
released.

How about this person:

Has a friend who joined the NPGMC

Same friend bought an extra ticket

Ran ahead of everybody at the sound check and got front row

Kept that same seat for the concert

Jumped up on stage when Prince was inviting other people on stage

Friend gives a bracelet for the aftershow

Ran to the front and got front row at the aftershow

Got up on stage when Prince was inviting people up to sing

Sang with Prince

Next day, Same friend stops back over for drinks and gives copies of Rave n2, last years downloads, ONA, and promises the live set.

While there they download boots of all the circulating concerts

They then plan to go to the next concert and do it all again.

Total cost: $0
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

Dont you see...the moaning IS worthwhile.

Just because you had a great deal out of the club doesnt mean that those who didnt are wrong.

Put yourself in mine and other members places.

 Through whoevers fault last year I got charged twice,

 never received Rave In2,

 never got an explanation as to why except an email(in deceMber) saying that I must be mistaken because all copies had been sent out,

 The World Tour mentiond at the start of Year 1 never materialised,

This year all I have so far is ONA  because the NPGMC website kept crashing when I went to get the special tickets and, even when it didnt, the message kept saying that they werent on sale yet...a problem experienced by many.

On top of that the official word (as NPGMC if ya dont beleive) is that ONA live is gonna be the final 3 cds of this years membership - now one of these is apparently a free disc so,if my maths is correct, that leaves one outstanding CD that hasnt been planned for...and they have until the end December when the membership runs out (YES IT DOES!!!)

Now,without trying to sound rude, perhaps if people were less selfish maybe this palce wouldnt be so heated. I think its very wrong for people managing to get all the perks to brand those less fortunate as liar and whinners...after all,can this many people all be wrong about the same thing...it must be some kind of paranormal activity if hundreds/thousands of people are all experiencing the same problems that dont really exist.

Open your mind to the fact that Prince and his system isnt perfect.

Exactly.
They r not perfect...the only thing this man has done was to attempt to make a club, make use of the internet, like he did last year...people complained bout that therefore they have tried it a different way (this years way)...now that dont seem to b working.
Prince tries a week celebration...no other artist has done this...so far so good. They have been for the most part pretty successful therefore he has continued it.(expect for those who have attempted to steal from him)
renting out the Theather and taking the audience to the movie...that was real cool...and those 7 nites of concerts at his PP studio was just awesome.
I know that everyone cannot take advantage of going to the celebration...but thats not princes fault. He puts things out there, and its up to us to choose if we take full advantage or not.

Your exactly right, he is not perfect and will never be able to run a smooth club that will please everyone.
But he is trying...at least he is out there doing it. Yea I do agree there can be some improvements. The ticket stuff is nerve racking, but that was ticketmaster in the beginning...the tickets selling on his site, yea it will most likely cause a crash...its like every way they try to turn to make things better they hit another wall...but they r trying, more said then for other artist out there...so u either go along with the ride or u dont.

Now take a look at it from his side...hes trying new things...the club...and he cant get it right to the way he can make people happy...the scalpers selling his tickets, ticket master screwing him over, his whole feasco with the music business...doing this week long celebration thing and people trying to steal from him...the continous tours he is doing...very draining on the whole band...people grabbing at him then cryin in his face cuz THEY think HE should recognize THEM...people who say they like him are trashing him...the bootleggers ( i aint even gonna touch this one)...people puttin stuff out there on the net, then braggin bout how they are not gonna listen to Prince lawyers warnings...then slammed with a law suite then maon bout it...lol...good Lawd.
just as prince aint perfect, we surley aint the perfect group either...lol

I give him credit for still tryin...if u dont wanna put out the club membership fee then dont...u have that choice.
If u wanna take the ride and see what progresses then lay down the money with no expectations.

Hey, I joke all the time about having Prince on my payroll.

but he is not this Gawd aweful of a man just because he is tryin new things and they do not always seem to work out the way he had planned...give him credit for trying.
Do u really think he is trying to mess things up?

If he could b perfect, Im sure he would want to be.

ok...im rambleing now...i gotta go to work, i gotta pay Prince wink

peace all,
hope things begin to work out right for you.
peace heart

My point in starting this topic was that $100 spread over a year is not that much money. It’s $1.92 a week. I work hard for my money too and have house payments, car payments, kids to buy clothes for and so forth and on and on.

That’s not the point.

Anything you spend your money on beyond the essentials, (clothes, shelter, food, etc.) is in essence thrown away. By making the decision to buy the membership you decided that your $100 was not needed for better purposes and you would take what was offered. When you get the live cd set, you will have the 4 cd’s promised. The opportunities to buy tickets to the shows were there, admittedly with some glitches but as I remember they were corrected.

No one has control over ticketmaster, not even Prince.

I also understand that my experience was different from others and I do feel bad for those that didn’t get the experience that I got. Not because of the money issue but because I would have hated to have missed out on my experience.

If you look at my original post I said that Prince needed to get it together on the business side of things but if you know anything about artists in general, business is not there strong suit and from what I have read about Prince he is no different.

I still say that everyone blows $1.92 a week on some little nothing crap and it just isn’t worth all this.

then shouldnt prince *not* try and meddle in the business side of it?

im glad you got your $100 worth...I didnt...i waited in line for four hours only to get row 17..then, i had to deal with people standing in front of me while i sat because npgmc sold more tickets to members then there were seats...

now, let me point out that i was able to purchase advance tickets from bjorks fan club at ZERO cost...and i ended up in row 17..in the same theater...which experience do i walk away from more fondly? couple that with the fact that we in Oakland didnt even get an aftershow...and he made two statements during the pre-show... prince has made his evocation his vocation...and its ruined the passion and excitment for quit a few of his fans...

solution? drop the npgmc or hire a competent company to run it...

btw: why dont i have the right to whine about paying a $100..the value of anything is based on individuals perceptions...judging others is sooo not cool.

maybe id take your thoughts more seriously if you had conveyed any type of empathy...as it is, you got a hair up your arse and wanted to slam everyone else's experiences and views...all based on your own singular experience... not fair and not polite...
