Question for NPGMC Cloud Guitar owners I purchased a White cloud guitar from the club recently, primarily to hang on the wall of my study...however a friend of mine visited and played the guitar. Afterwards I noticed that in 2 places the paint had cracked/rubbed off?? Down the neck at the sides below 2 frets...Have you other guys with this guitar noticed the same thing?? I want to learn to play it, but if after only 1 use it has done this I am worried that playing it will ruin it...Please reply with your experiences of owning this guitar.
Thanks in advance. | |

I don't own one, nor have I played one, but I have heard of this problem before. In fact, if you look on ebay for these guitars, they quite often mention paint coming away on the neck by the frets as being a common fault - seems odd, though, for such a pricey guitar!! Even my old £200 guitar doesn't suffer from this! ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Just out of interest NPG2000 did you have to pay customs and import duty when the cloud arrived? Its just that nearly everything I get sent from overseas I get walloped with a huge charge on top

No I did not have to pay anything like that, I was really lucky all round. The set neck only cost me $1000 as they had the price wrong on the web page for a couple of days...then they honoured their mistake. So NPGMC ain't all bad!!

I have had a Blue Cloud for over a year, and yes, the paint does rub off on the fret board. I have played mine on very few occasions, and it appears that the paint is going to rub off no matter what.

That really is shitty for such a pricey guitar. We all know that Prince's clouds don't lose their paint so why should the copies??? I sincerely want 2 fuck the taste out of your mouth

this is what has kept me from purchasing one... i have purchased guitars for half the price of the cloud, and they sound better and have retained their color all up and down neck... i wish the manufacturers would correct this problem... Mr. Ellis Dee-licious, the Official NPGigolo

What a ridiculous problem - guitars that cost even $150 typically don't have paint rub-off. I would be mega-pissed if I spent that much money for shit quality
Who is making these, Schecter? I've never heard anything bad about them before

Shit, for $1500 that guitar better be able to blow me, give me a reach around, bring me to orgasm and then cuddle me afterwards.

They ALL seem to have this problem. Most guitars don't have painted fretboards like the Cloud. Most have maple or rosewood, as in un-painted. The paint comes off at the immediate edge where the neck edges meets the fretboard. Most guitars with un-painted fretboards are still bare wood at this junction. They wear too, but you can't tell because the wood is always the same color all the way through.
It's the price you pay for a guitar body that is completely painted. I'm still scared to play mine... [This message was edited Sun Nov 10 1:33:42 PST 2002 by squirrelgrease] If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

It seems the current clouds have paint coming off after the very 1st playing...not gradually over a period of time!!! Being a guitarist if i got one of these i would wanna play it in front of the mirror everday and fantasize...anyway 'nough of that!!! These guitars seem to be for showing off only...oh well. I sincerely want 2 fuck the taste out of your mouth

Because Prince uses a very expensive "real" cloud guitar, not those cheap knock-offs as they sell on NPGMC... Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O
