Not much music at NPGMC

It seems strange to me that there isn't much Prince music available on the npgmc website.

I know crystal ball and other CDs used to be available, but the choice now is pretty bizarre - hardly any Prince at all.

Also, my Rainbow Children and ONA CDs got damaged recently (car journey, hot coffee, clumsy partner) and I can't get replacements. I thought it would've been a good idea to offer npgmc members the opportunity to purchase additional copies of the CDs we're sent, because there are quite a few Prince CDs that I have bought multiple copies of over the years (originals get leant out and not returned, damaged or lost sometimes).

Anyway, it just struck me as odd that there's so little Prince music available, when you can get everything else from keyrings to T-shirts and posters.

Any thoughts, anyone?

I don't think that they can offer replacement ONA cd's otherwise people would take advantage of the fact and buy them for non-members or sell them on ebay.

You should be able to get a replacement Rainbow Children cd without any trouble at virtually any cd store.

I just noticed you lived in England which means that you will have to fork out the big bucks for the "import" version but you should still be able to get it.

You're right -- and it's Prince's official web site, and how deep do you have to dig into the site to even see a photograph of his face? If you're a member, you can see him in the Flash promo for ONA Live, and also in the new photo from the European tour that's there. If you're not a member, I don't think you can even get a glance of him on his site other than album covers in the discography section.

Ever go to an old fashioned ice cream parlor as a kid and they put so many scoops on the cone that its falling all over the place and dripping down your arm? YUM

Then you go back there the next year and the new way it is run by Princey McStingey has the tiny half scoop of ice cream barely enough to fit in the cone at a higher price?

Thats how I feel about year 2.

Just be more careful with your CDs...they're supposed to last a lifetime. It's not Prince's fault you're a klutz, is it? One of the few things we can't actually blame him for. smile

lol ... I'm not blaming him - did you understand what I was saying??? biggrin biggrin biggrin

I think the points I made are valid for opening up a discussion, ie why can't he give members the opportunity to purchase extra CDs? I don't know how many members copy their stuff for other people, or share their membership but I'm sure it's done. I'm saying it would be ok with me if he wanted to sell additional copies in a members-only section.

It also seems strange that for someone who has released so much music, there is so little available to buy whereas you can buy more or less anything else that's Prince-related from the site.

My opinion alone perhaps, but I was asking for comments on these points rather rather than implying that Prince was to blame for my husband ruining my CDs. biggrin And yes, I'm aware that CDs are to be cherished - I have over 1000 of them which are unblemished. It's just that the ones I play more often tend to travel with me, which then leads to the possibility of being damaged. I hope I've clarified this point, although I really didn't think I would need to when I started the thread biggrin

Raspberry brought up an EXCELLENT topic. Perhaps one too deep for us, LOL...

The word most often associated with Prince is prolific... biggrin Well, wasn't/isn't it? So Raspberry has a very strong arguement... mr.green

Prince, where is the music? After all you are a singer/songwriter/composer with many albums/singles...videos...Do you not have any rights to sell any of them? sad

Lots of stuff on there for sale - unfortunately nothing I want. Where is the MUSIC? confused

I have to say tho, with respect to him selling members-only CDs? Unless there is a limit - of 1 per member, it creates the perfect opportunity for naughty members to buy these "exclusive" CDs and start selling them on eBay, just like the ones that were given away at the Celebration. no no no! Naughty children!!! lol

They got hats...shirts...hats...shirts...hats...shirts... lol

How about focusing back on music ??? The NPG stores were stocked with all of Prince's albums, including hard to find vinyl...(cuz he was still with Warner?)

sigh

If you are in the UK and want TRC, check this out.

http://www.playserver4.co...itle=98294

They have them in stock at £10.99 including delivery. I have used this site to buy literally hundreds of DVD's/CD's, I got my TRC there on a pre-order for £9.99, they are very reliable.
RIP sad

Lav ... you have a point there - I didn't think of that.

I'm glad Prince doesn't seem to have done what MJ has done and totally screwed the fans. "Invincible" - released in different colours to boost sales, with die-hard fans buying each colour. Prince could easily have done the same, with CDs being available to the general public in a different format from music club members. I'm sure there would be people who would buy both sets.

There's gotta be a solution, but I'm not creative enough to think of one biggrin

And English Gent - thank u - I am indeed in England and will give that a go! ... cheers biggrin

Glad I could help, hope you get on OK after my glowing recommendation! Also, I just looked at your profile and it seems that we live in the same county, you might just be my closest .org neighbour.
RIP sad

I thought there was going to be a discography at NPGMC with sound bites - did I just imagine that or was that announced at some point?
