When i went to check out Guitar i was disappointed, but not suprised that it costs money!
On the same day my favourite band Silverchair released their new song online, and unlike P its FREE!!!! And they even have the film clip...for FREE!!!
Has P really sold us out? I mean come on is a band that is half as big as Prince is can put their songs online for nothing why cant P? Im sure he has more than enough money!
I would love 2 pay for his music and all, but not having a credit card can b a disadvantage for when u wanna hear his music, but only puts it online!

Some folks give stuff away to encourage you to purchase something else they have to sell. Prince doesn't really have anything else new for sale right now so he's offering this for you to purchase. Nothing odd really. I haven't bought anything new from him for some time so 2 bucks for 'the cause' is no big deal and I gladly do it. Not sure if I would say anyone has enough money. I'm sure there are people that could look at anyone of us and say, 'hey they have more than enough money, how come they aren't doing this...' Definitely stinks not having a card to make the purchase but I'm sure you're clever enough to get a copy without a card. Specially since a number of people actually paid for more than 1 download.

IMO, the fact that he puts it online or charges for it is not the problem. The problem is that he doesn't just list them on iTunes. It would save himself and his fans a hell of a lot of trouble most of the time.

no chance would i like 2 c prince on iTunes, i mean one of the conditions of downloading stuff from there is that u CANNOT put it on cds, which is majorly bogus and most likely one of the reasons P doesnt?

You are perfectly capable of burning music to CD via iTunes whether it is your own or purchased from the iTunes Store. The feature is built right in... and plainly advertised. It will even create MP3 CDs for you.

Less than a dollar would get you the Prince track, unlimited CD burning, and printing of the cover art all inside the app.

Wasn't it advertised as free? It wasn't up for me at ALL on the day it was supposed to be and then the next day it cost two bucks.

Come on guys -- we got a free 13 minute concert in high definition during the Super Bowl and we're going to complain about a new song being offered as a $1.99 single? Yes, it didn't say "buy it tomorrow" or anything like that, but how often do you see ads that specifically say "requires payment for product or service advertised"? I mean, a can of Pepsi costs less than half of this music download and yet I've never seen a Pepsi ad that stated "Cans will not be dispensed from retail outlets or vending machines for free. Payment will be required prior to consumption."
