NPG Music Club... R U diggin it?

Hello friends:
How do the recently joined NPG Music Club Members get access to all of the grooves from the 2001 start up year? I personally just purchased a computer just about a month ago, and I am sure that I am not alone in this. I have been a dedicated music diehard of Prince since 1984's Purple Rain explosion. I have all of his albums, singles, etc.Is it fair that the NPG Music Club just erased everything that was on the site last year?
Even though I had no access to the Club last year, I am finding that at this point in time to date, there was more that the club offered. Where are the NPG Audio Shows? Last year the club had a monthly audio gig that the fans had an opportunity to hear and download. What happened? Why did it end?
There was a lot of great jams that were featured on the site last year. Why cant the newly joined NPG Club Members have a chance to get those grooves? U tell me! When I asked the NPG directly if I can get a chance to download the songs from last year , they simply replied that at this time all they are doing with current music is releasing cd's to the members of the club.
That is terrific! I prefer having cd's made by Prince himself. There is nothing like coming home from a hard days work, to find in your mail box a package from the NPG with the latest disc inside. You know what I am talking about, you open it up, get a look at the disc's artwork, then you get to read the liner notes and see the pictures, all that jazzy cool stuff. You turn on your stereo, pop the disc in for the very first time and just sit back and get the very first listen to a part of a giant collection of jams that you will cherish forever!!! There is nothing like it in the world!!! PRICELESS!!!
Now here is the problem that I am finding at this point...
By having the monthly program on the computer, you had new tunes each month, plus the audio show, plus a lot more information added to the site all of the time. Now you get an occasional download which at this point is only 2 songs and by the way we are into the end of July. Rarely do you see a large amount of info for the fans anymore, and there has only been one cd released so far! So if you add it up, you are paying the same price as last year, but getting a lot less!
The club is promising four cd's to all club memebers before 2002 ends! Cool, no complaints there. Now there is only five months left to the year. The Big question is...Will they deliver the other three cd's before the 2002 end? Will this be another Crystal Ball ordeal? You know what I am talking about, you pre-ordered the Crystal Ball cd' set and it took over a year to get the collection released to the fans, and when you got the package in the mail you found a round cd jewel case holding all five cd's but no packaging at all. No cd book to tell you the name of the songs, no lyrics , photos, etc. I was very upset at first because the night before Blockbuster Video was selling the set fully packaged, with a cd book and all! Ok, it had only four cd;s included, but as a hardcore fan I felt like we got the lesser end of the deal! The tunes on that collection was outrageous and I loved it, I really did!
I saw it as a financial problem possibly! Maybe Prince took on a bit too much at that point in time! Maybe there was no more money to finish making the cd books. Who knows. Well I do remember getting a tee shirt with the set. I love Prince and agree with a lot of what he stands for! Freedom is a beautiful thing! I am glad he is where he is, dont get me wrong, but in a way the fans are losing out a bit.
How, well all of his Warner Brother's releases are in real need of a remaster job! Purple Rain needs a face lift in the dvd area! His other three films are not out yet on dvd! Will Warner Brother's spend the money and give the fans what they deserve? They should!
I hope they put there Pride on the back burner! They should call Prince up and do the things for the fans that they deserve! I mean we did buy millions of records!! Hopefully they will let Prince himself remaster the cd's and give Purple Rain what it deserves for it's 20th anniversary!!! Maybe some bonus tracks for each remaster? How about a 24 page cd book filled with pictures and cool information?
All of you NPG Club Members...Take A Stand Radical Man!!!

PLEASE RESPOND ON THIS TOPIC!!!
PEACE!!!

Just one point. The Prince-ese New year begins and ends in February, so there are 7 months left to get the other 3 CDs.
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

After all the years & words between Warner Bros & Prince you can't realistically expect them to make amends & release anything jointly. Remastered cds are a dream & will be that way forever. Unless Prince goes belly up & Warner Bros grows a new head.

The first year members paid $100 for those grooves - are you willing to pay an additional $100 to get them?

Good Point! smile

Could you imagine the pissing and moaning from those who paid for last year if suddenly all the downloads were made available for free to those who hadn't paid...YIKES!

Well, actually, a better way would be to put the 2001 songs on CD's and sell them via the website for $. That way, the new members could still pay for the 2001 songs and old members obviously still have the downloads they paid for AND can also buy these cd's IF they want.

That is a good idea.
I missed out on Year 1 and would love to have the songs/ahdio shows released that year.
