I can believe that. I always wondered how they could keep running after members only paid a one-time fee of $20. Sting charges $40 A YEAR for membership to sting.com. At least that's what I was paying about five years ago before I cancelled my membership. David

Judging by what I've read here and on HQ, a lot of people haven't received it. But NPGMC's email track record had become crap, lots of people getting them either late or not at all. It's 1:22am on July 5 and I have yet to receive the announcement. Let you know when I get it, if I get it.

At least they were inconsistent with their emails to the very end. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

This blows. They should have carried the site until the new site was ready. I want the membership fees refunded for myself and my girl.

txladykat said: sorry, but i dont understand why everyone is getting upset over the "lifetime" deal....they have clearly stated for a long time that your membership is a "lifetime membership as long as the club is in existence". i am bummed that it is closed as well, but am not feeling slighted because it didnt last "my lifetime". the vibe has been for awhile now that the club would be closing.
if they open up something new..i will be there. I'm with you! I'll be right there!! I don't remember the specific quote about lifetime membership, but I first joined when it was around $100 a year and when the $25 lifetime membership came up, I couldn't understand what that was about...still don't. I didn't think it would last. In fact, I'm surprised it lasted this long. It never made a lot of sense to me. It just kind of made it easy for many less serious fans when it came to concert tickets. Those people who are complaining about having paid $25 and wanting a refund are just seriously cheap. Sorry, that's how I see it! Anyone who paid it surely has gotten their money's worth by now. It just sounds silly! Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

I think its fucking excellent the NPGMC forums have gone. I never posted there because the ass lickers that were posting on it 5,000 times a day were scaring me shitless.
Shame about the club seating, but thats it, the merchandise was getting crap. http://www.goldiesparade.co.uk/ - Prince discography, tour history, news and more.

I can believe that. I always wondered how they could keep running after members only paid a one-time fee of $20. Sting charges $40 A YEAR for membership to sting.com. At least that's what I was paying about five years ago before I cancelled my membership. David Funny, probably the reason why they only charged $25 is so people didn't think it was too expensive. No point in charging $40 if everyone cancels their membership! That's hardly a way to make money and keep the website afloat! If the club was bleeding money, they only have themselves to blame. Spending money creating boxes full of clothing and paraphenalia that not many fans bother buying. Other than that, a website doesn't need a lot of money to run it, you don't need a giant staff force unless it updates everyday, which the npgmc didn't. Okay, they need a mod or 2 to moderate the chat rooms, and someone to put new mp3s online for download - but as we all know, that didn't happen that often. I'm sure they could streamline the website if necessary and get it back to basics. Certainly emails to members have got increasingly erratic, arriving at different times and days apart. The system must have been screwing up somewhere. But surely, to pay for itself all the club had to do was offer more new mp3s for download more regularly? Prince had got so much material, live and otherwise, it's time he started using it to pay for the club. I mean, with the $50 million he earned from the Musicology tour and after paying $60,000 a month rental on his LA home, surely he could afford to keep the club open out of his own money as a vanity project? I'm wondering whether it's a case of he's fallen out with the company designing and controlling the website.

I just hope that the new site will incorporate an iTunes selling feature, so that those who CHOOSE to buy AAC files can do so. (See Pearl Jam's site).
I also hope that the "mansion" look of the old site will go away and be more user-friendly.
