Official Xenophobia Celebration DVDs

.
.
.
I am sooo hoping for an official DVD release of the Celebration...

Here is my question... for the NPGMC members or those who attended the concerts - or even those who weren't there and want to "see" it... would you consider paying for like a 7 DVD set of the shows??? If so... what would you pay?

I really want video. I love the music, but this experience (since I was there all 7 nights) with visuals would be one of my most prized possessions mr.green... I would be willing to pay up to one hundred dollars for a set like this - how much would you pay???

I just hope Prince smile starts to release official stuff (please?) before others get ahold of it and makes money off of it. I would much rather support the man who makes the music, so that he can continue to feed our souls...

Pretty please with sugar on it, Prince??? biggrin

That would indeed be great!
I guess I would pay the price of an actual concert experience.

I'd pay for it, within reason. Prince could obviously sell a lot of stuff to us if he'd just make it available.

BTW, does anyone know how to extract the audio from DVD and burn onto CD. It's be nice to listen to my Rave2000 show in the car. Just wondering.

That would be great if I had the celebration on DVDs I think it's a good idea and an even better one if you had the option to buy it as a set or per dvd for say $25 to $35 per dvd so I guess I'd be willing to pay a pretty penny for the whole set.

LaVisHh-

I agree. Prince should release the Celebration on DVD. Those who attended would have sort of a "souvenir" and those who missed it could experience it too! A few suggestions:

• Every Prince performance (including soundchecks and aftershows)
• Interviews
• One or two videos for ONA or TRC tracks
• Professional artwork and packaging
• A one-time code for downloading an unreleased song for DVD buyers

Aside from Sheila E. (and possibly Larry), I don't think you'd get any of the other performers on the disc. That would involve too many legal issues.

So my guess is that it wouldn't be a 7-disc set (as DVD's hold a lot). It would probably be a 3-DVD set at most, but I'd be willing to pay at least $50 . . . at most $75.

I wouldn't really want any of the opening acts, except a DVD of Sheila's performance... biggrin Not sure if SHE would want to, as it was hell on her that evening... would be a treasure to add to my collection tho... wink

We will see. biggrin

Same here, didn't think of the option to buy them separately... great idea! smile

If he is considering this... the sooner he gets it out the better, before folks spend all their money on the boots that are sure to come out and empty pockets...

Look at the DoW CD given out at the Celebration to us for free... eBay has them going for between 40-50 dollars for ONE song!!! Not even video... rolleyes

Hope P realizes this...and the potential of his income. mr.green Ya'll know he hearts that $$$ mr.green

When Prince has played his tapes of performances at Paisley Park they never look very good. Sometimes at parties he has played tapes of old performances and they are always real fuzzy. The transfer to DVD would be awful.

I would have no problem buying a DVD of the performances but I don't think he would actually release a box set that looked so poor. He would open himself up to a lot of criticism and it would probably be deserved.

Rave didn't even look that good and he had "professional" camera people filming it with the crane and everything.

So I guess what I'm asking is would people really be willing to drop hundreds of dollars on something that would essentially just look like an above average bootleg?

I think releasing the Celebration on cd would probably be a better alternative.

As long as the SOUND quality is there, I could live with it. Can't look any worse than a postage stamp sized window on my RealPlayer.

I'm currently listening to bootleg copies of the Hit & Run Tour taped in the audience. So it all depends on who he is marketing this stuff to. To the masses it better be the best of the best, but he could have taped it with a camcorder and it will sell to the Prince Fans who are Members of the NPGMC. Just give us something.

Can someone, who attended the Rave2000 concert and Xenophobia, inform us if the setup of the camera's were almost the same. And with how many camera's were they filming?

They're probably just VHS copies. Plus they're being shown on huge screens, far bigger than a normal TV. The picture is bound to look fuzzy.
I'm sure he could make some amazing DVD's if he wanted!!

The Rave Video was pro shot, high quality high CCD digital cameras. Cranes and steadi-cams.

Xenophobia was shot with up to 3 stationary cameras at the most (less on some nights) but the cameras were sub par digitals. They were used for documentation only or webcast most likely. Don't get your hopes up for any DVD or video in the near future.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

This is exactly what I'm hoping for as well.
I'd shell out 100 bones for this in a heartbeat.
Talk about the definitive live collection.

Keep hoping for it... perhaps even asking the NPGMC for it... ?

Or post it here, that you are interested. Maybe, just maybe, "someone" will listen.

wink
