I wish Prince would get a real website

With news, release dates and a free forum. Not just always trying to sell stuff

Yeah, it's always sucked. Back when it was Love4OneAnother.com it was like a
maze, it still is a little bit. The graphics are nice the first time you visit,
but then it gets old. It does seem like more of an infomercial than a club.

Becuase the news, release dates and updates would come directly from prince and his staff.

Becuase the news, release dates and updates would come directly from prince and his staff.

which would be next to highly unlikely, as the paisley brethren are highly wishy-washy.

i think they did a fairly good job back in the L4OA days - there was at least always a reason to check in regularly and see what kinda crazy new rant or cryptic quip would get posted next.

i think they quit providing updates when they started mixing news with socio-political diatribes and other weirdness. they got sore when people criticized their editorials and even more sore when folks started pointing out factual errors in their pontifications.

i see no reason why they couldn't have fun with a news section again.

The only reason they might not have fun with a news section is they couldn't really couldn't call it "news." Over at the Club the PP's are saying that they don't know what P is doing or where he is. confuse

well, if prince isn't communicating tidbits to them to share with club members (which he apparently isn't), and the PPs aren't vigilant about maintaining a proper news section of the site (yeah, there's the N.E.W.S. forum, but we all know that's not a news page, c'mon), it just tells me that prince doesn't want his site representing his current activities unless he has something specific to hawk.

and, you know, that's certainly a choice.

I have come to the recent, probably belated, conclusion that the NPGMC is essentially worthless other than when Prince tours.
With all of the live video in this man's vault, all we get is the lousy NAACP performance, and a letter that implied, despite the mod's denials, that if we didn't purchase it en masse, we may end up with nothing. I know the words were different, but I sure wasn't alone in reading it in the way that I did.
Plus, the forums are a depressing mix of mod censorship, phony-baloney ultra hype (such as all the praise for that lousy NAACP performance), numerous threads on the same subject, the complete and utter destruction of the English language, and lots of hellfire and Brimstone.

The reason they grandfathered every active member into automatic lifetime is that the website is now worthless. Any non-member can purchase anything on the Musicology board for a few pennies or dollars more.

I have come to the same conclusion - I visited the stupid forums once and quickly decided never to bother looking at them again. I've never bothered with the chat room, and there's fuck all else to the site except that waste of space 'reflections' page, some old stuff we all heard years ago and already own in better quality, and then there's the give-us-more-of-your-money pages. NPG Retail is bigger (has more pages) than the rest of the site put together. That says it all really.
Still though, with the discounts for the stuff I downloaded, my membership was effectively $12 (that's $9.50 in real money). Not bad for the chance to get pre-sale tickets for decent seats.

The only argument I can think of for joining NPGMC that makes it financially worth it is if you intend to buy everything from the download store. That way, the total of discounts is greater than the membership cost.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.
