If NPGMC sold LP's would you buy one?

I don't know who's buying those ear wraps and tee shirts, but if they would offer releases on vinyl, I think many people would buy them. I know I would love to have "The Chocolate Invasion" and "Musicololy" on vinyl. You would think that Paisley Park could produce records, wouldn't you?

i'd rather see NPGMC doing all that schmancy die-cut packaging stuff with limited edition vinyl collector's item issues than putting out CD cases that fall apart after a week. vinyl's more of a collectible/display thing these days...but people still do buy it. fans do, certainly. i can't even remember the last prince vinyl i bought...probably the 'partyman' 12".

Yeah, I'm not a huge collector, but with the exeption of Musicology and D&P, I have all his albums on vinyl and would love to finish it out. I don't really listen to them much anymore, but I like the fact that I have them. If I was stuck on some remote island with nothing but my Prince records, I think I could do a professor from Gilligan's Island and make a player out of some bamboo and pine cones. I don't know. I would probably pay up to $50 for those records, I paid more than that for The Gold Experience. Thanks for you response.

Why would anyone sell vinyl when you cant buy a turntable to play it on? What makes you think that people would buy LPs? What data are you basing it on? It is more expensive to make LPs than CDs so the price would not be rock bottom. Then all the cry babies would be out about the price being too high. Give me the CDs - I ahvent hada die cut CDpackage fall apart on me yet and I have them all.

I'm not saying stop selling CD's, just offer LP's as well. More expensive? Maybe, but if people (collectors) were willing to pay top dollar, they could make a small profit.

It's just in my generation, LP's were the shit. Maybe you can't understand the joy of bringing home a brand new Sign 'O The Times record and holding the thing up and admiring the beauty.

fishslap they still sell turntables....

Yes, we've got it!!! The new SL-1200MK5 Turntable features all the SL-1200M3D amazing features and specifications plus a new and improved white LED in the pop-up light instead of the original incandescent bulb of the M3Ds. Not only is this light brighter, but it will outlast any pop-up light bulb you may have had in the past.

NPGMC has sold some vinyl in the past! I bought a Come On 12" from the club. They really should sell more not only to people like me who will play it on my turntables but to the die hard collecters who would be more than pleased to buy products that are 100% official and sealed!

I'm from that generation as well and I know what joy you're talking about! Albums which folded open into huge pictures and/or artwork practically told a story within themselves like PARADE or ATWIAD!

I've seen Musicology on Vinyl. But it looked kinda shitty. I'd get TRC on Vinyl. I have seen it and the packaging looks good.

I recently got the Cure's latest on Vinyl...I'll never play it, but it's cool to have.

I think P ought have special editions of his albums...I miss those and I'd certainly get them if they came out. I am a much bigger fan than I was a decade ago when he did these kinds of things still.

In a heartbeat. As a dj and avid vinyl collector (and opposed to spinning with CDs), I can honestly admit that I would buy just about anything NPGMC released on vinyl. Anyone remember when they were advertising the "Coming Soon - Hot Wit U remix vinyl single"?
TRC was issued on vinyl - they did a nice job with it.
Musicology lp and singles were released, but appear to be bootlegish instead of official.

Umm..how about a Crystall Ball vinyl release??? Sorry, I don't know what came over me - asking NPGMC for something that folks would actually have interest in buying.

Amen...and I'm not only referring to Prince albums! The size of the 12" sleeves and jackets allowed plenty of room for artwork, etc., even for inserting a good-sized booklet in the middle of a folding jacket, or a folded poster in with the record (Controversy, anyone?). CD's just aren't big enough to allow all that.
sigh

Have you seen them on mini discs (batman era singles)
