why in the world would they have Newpower Soul available for download when they should have "One Nite Alone" (the one that is not live) available for download? Seems backwards to me, especially since "One Nite Alone" has never been released in stores....
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I think everyone glazed over the POSITIVE aspect of this post, as usual...Anx, you shouldve seperated them!

that MMM performance was incredible! I feel very honoured he did such an open (albeit cryptic as usual) funky exclusive performance and I felt ecstatic 2 be there.

The fact that NPGMC gave me an opportunity to experience that...It's a waste of breath to knock them for the NPS download.

Damn that was a whirlwind 2 days! headbang

A funky in studio gig sandwiched between 2 sweaty Musicology shows, no rest 4 the wicked.

I see your point, but you have to realise the shock of this! NPS is almost universally considered his worst album (BinayJustin notwithstanding), so its a bit of an enigma that he would put it up for download when he has so much more material that SHOULD be made available.

The fact that its partnered in this e-mail with the MMM peformance is even more baffling. Its like Prince is saying "hey, check out this great performance! Oh, but just so you don't think I'm TOO wonderful, check out this piece of crap I did in '98 as well!"

holey moley, one silly little line at the end of their message about including NPS in the musicology download shop, and that's all anyone can focus on? silly rabbits!

i checked out the MMM performances at the prince party at berlin nightclub here in chicago last month, and i gotta tellya, it's some good stuff - especially the "DMSR" performance. maybe this got featured over on housequake and some of ya already got to see this footage for free, but if that's not the case and you haven't seen this stuff, it's pretty cool.

my only gripe, as per usual, is that i don't have a lot of use for video files for my PC...if NPGMC had turned the MMM performances into AUDIO files, i'd be slobbering all over that stuff. as it is, i'll just wait till the next party at berlin to hopefully check it out again. but for those who don't have a chance to see these performances otherwise, i do recommend checking it out. nod

and chill about the NPS shit - it's not like they're making a big deal about it, they're just adding it to their inventory. sheesh.

I agree NPS is not what most of us are salivating for but consider this:
1) it IS out of print, and unlike GOLD, he has the rights to it, so he's keeping it out there for people to enjoy, maybe for the first time
2) it's OUR opinion that it blows, not his
3)Given the time it was recorded, i wouldnt be surprised if half the songs are writtern about Mani! Maybe he likes the album. oh yeah, I said it!

Is anyone forcing u to buy it? no. Its not like we paid $100 guaranteed new music this year and got NPS...its voluntary.

Wake up people, he's had one great chance to open his vault, (remember Crystal Ball?) and even then we got remixes of P Control, Continental and Dark!

Roadhouse Garden? It's not gonna happen!!!!!

I'm happy he ain't MJ and is alive well and making new music and gave us a great tour and a great live performance to view.

I'm pretty sure it is
I mean its manufactured by NPg records so I know they have a more limited budget than WB...I dobut they keep producing them after the sales results of a first printing.

I havent seen it selling in any NEW cd rack for ages.

If anyone can correct that fo sho please do.

Thanks

you may be right. i'm pretty sure The Rainbow Children is way out of print, and i wouldn't be surprised if NEWS becomes even harder to find in wrecka stows. it's kind of an interesting strategy, really...these albums are perpetually available for download, but only available as limited release in brick-and-mortar retail. hmmm.

The biggest question about NPS should be is where is Wasted Kisses? That song makes that disc.

i certainly hope that track is included. in my opinion, NPS is a deeply flawed piece of music as a whole, but there are a few songs that make it worth owning...."wasted kisses" is definitely one of those songs.

Oh I can't wait for the first hardcore-fam post about the New Power Soul download album
saying -no doubt using an abundance in caps-

"I think I heard a slightly different, rather obscure background sound in "Mad Sex" at
aprox 02:47 running time! Therefore it should be considered a re-mastered or even a
re-recorded album.

And no, it is not a glitch in my download because I bought 7 copies of it and they all
have the same weird noise in exactly the same place.

Could Prince be sending us a message with this eek

Oh I am so thrilled with this new release of one of my fav ever NPG albums of Prince
and the new power generation. I have listened to it 4 times back2back just today!!!!

music

I, for one am glad I have been given the chance to buy it once again, for 7 dollars!

All nay-sayers should fuck off and die. Prince rules! Now I want Emancipation in the
download stores. Think of it! 3 albums for only 21 dollars total!! It will be heaven!!"

Anyone remember that question they asked a few weeks ago? Something about where overseas fans bought their copy of NewPowerSoul? Strangely, the NPGMC apparently had no idea who they had hired to do distribution overseas for this album?

It seems to me that they found a sweatshop somewhere in India with a couple thousand copies of NewPowerSoul lying around...

and are they seriously not including "Wasted Kisses"? The stupidity over there is overwhelming.

Oh man - I gotta admit that I just feel like buying something today smile and so I was gonna get the performances from MuchMusic -- until I realized how much they're charging for them. No thanks. I can get several MORE copies of NewPowerSoul for that kinda change.

I would like to see those performances though. Did he really brag at that taping that he has TWO vaults now? It's sad to see him brag about that kinda stuff when he apparently has no intention of ever releasing any of it. Whatever.

Guess I'll put in my crystal clear DVD bootleg of The Beautiful Experience - LOVE those clips from Glam Slam Ulysses, especially.

Er...wait....so it's $2.49 for all 3 songs? Well I guess that ain't THAT bad - looks like their marketing strategy worked. After charging $7.77-$10 for 3 tracks previously (and shit, at least they included the audio file there...would it really be so hard for them to include the audio file? is that really asking too much?), it doesn't seem like SUCH an incredible rip-off to me to pay $2.49 for these 3 - although apparently these are all much, much shorter. And they were on TV. Hmmm.

Who told the NPGMC that it's any fun to sit in front of your computer and watch a video download? They should be strung up by their tender parts.

Edit: What I'm saying is that if I could burn these to an audio CD and listen to them in a little bit while I'm taking my shower, it would be a no-brainer. (I'll refrain from making a joke about the PeePees!)
