nursing mom-Prince fan I have tickets to a concert at the Fleetcenter-Boston but I have a 5 month old that won't take a bottle- I'm bringing a sitter to watch her but have to find a place to nurse her a few times during the show. Anyone with any ideas on how I can not miss too much of the show- Fleetcenter staff have given me no help with allowing me to use a room there.

Don't talk to staff talk to the manager. As a mother of 3 I breast fed them all. Put a blanket over your shoulder while at the concert. But if there is no room well, what I have had to do is use a bathroom stall. Sit on the toilet and breast feed there too. You may have no choice but to use the bathroom. Some Women should NEVER have Children as They Go Crazy. Some Wanna Die... Some Do. Some Actually Kill Themselves ya Know. It's Statistics. Guess Some WOMEN FEEL They WOULD RATHER Die Than Be Unhappy Forever . Since Their Not the Same. It's just STATISTICS. Their Life is Not The Same Nor They so They wanna Die. As a mother of 5 kids (and I breast fed them all) my suggestion to you is that you leave the baby at home and express the milk and have it in the bottle for the baby to drink!! Don't buy into the notion that "my baby won't take the bottle"... or "if she gets used to the bottle then she wont want to nurse" if she gets hungry enough she will take it just fine and it won't harm her at all. Before you know it she will be taking juice outta that very same bottle that she used to hate and she will still be nursing too!!. Just think of it as a little practice for the future.
If you have to bring her along then I suggest that you nurse just before you arrive more likely than not all of the noise is gonna cause her to "shut down" and go to sleep through most of the show when she wakes towards the end just toss a blanket over your shoulder and nurse her!! Please do not use a nasty stall in the bathroom that is just gross, fuck 'em if they get uncomfortable with you nursing it is a natural thing...but most P fan are a loving bunch and they are not gonna care if you nurse while at the show!!

I saw a couple who brought their toddler to a show last weekend - they put a big ol' pair of headphones on her head to protect her ears.

The baby's ears should be fine. I'm still breastfeeding my son, though he's 16 months old, and I have no problem whipping out a breast when it's necessary. More than likely, though, your baby will not want to nurse with all the commotion. Or maybe my son is just nosey...

I saw a couple who brought their toddler to a show last weekend - they put a big ol' pair of headphones on her head to protect her ears. Those are special noise blocking headphones. I would STRONGLY suggest earplugs for your little one's ears. No matter where you are in the arena, the sound will take it's toll. My kids are 2 and 4 and I never take them to a show without it. As for breastfeeding - I'm with Nammie, F'em and feed your child. Bring a large blanket and drap it over your shoulder and baby and nurse away.

It's a pretty loud show! Not sure 5 month old going to be to happy with that volume of music. Why is your Organ so small?

Moderator | Please don't bring a baby to a bass heavey show like that. A baby will only take a bottle when you don't give it a choice.

If you fel you have to bring baby to nurse if it needs you have a friend who doesnt care about the concert keep baby in the lobby or outside and have them call or page you if they really need you. I wouldnt take a little one clear into the show. And baby will probly do fine if you nurse right before you go in and someone walks around with her in a stroller or drives around in the car so baby can nap, you'll be back before baby gets very hungry. And 5mo is about old enough for cereal or something else if baby wont take a bottle or a sippy cup of expressed milk or water. -- Just another Prince lovin, VW drivin, SuperMommy wannabe
