The video for Musicology was basically that, but the youth never liked the song so it died on MTV and VH1. After the failure of Musicology single I was surprised he even attempted another video but since he did it only makes sense that its a cheaper video because relistically it wouldn't be worth the money to spend a lot just to see MTV not play it again. . Looks like your basic soul seduction video. Call My Name has some stro ng moments and a gorgeous arrangement, but I don't like the chorus. Best chance for a hit is Cinnamon Gril. It looks like Prince doesn't feel he needs a radio hit and under his profitable marketing scheme he is right. He's rolling in the cash as it is, and it will probably be his most profitable year in his entire career, what with the tour, cds sold (all semantics aside), club memberships and all those downloads, plus merchandising. Prince has been making money all his career, from tours, royalties, Cd sales, etc. I think that if Prince had a goal with making Musicology so accessible (or if he has any identity crisis), it would be to prove the world he could still make a hit single song being 45 years old. ´Call my name´, if well promoted, has the potential to make strong success as TMBGITW, but let´s wait and see... |
