Thanks for the info! How many people were there? Was it sold out, or did general admission still get in?

i think around 700 people in the beginning at the end there were only 300 people left You could still get in "u can boo all you want, but Holland is funky "

Was the smaller room open at all? the smaller room was open. The water stand was in there and they were playing (i believe) tha ONA dvd on the screen (no sound goin though) It actually was strange, we entered through that room, they had the dock doors open and that's how we got in and out. I also liked that the stands were all still up at the beginning of the nite...so you could still look for cheap goodies, get a cup o coffee and some food and then head on in to partay

Interesting note about the aftershow:
Being that Prince is currently on tour and playing 3 straight nights in MPLS, I got the feeling early on in his aftershow that he was "saving his voice" a little bit. I realize that historically the shows at Paisley have been Jam-oriented to a degree, but rarely have they coincided with a national tour. Usually they're done when he's off the road, (or during a celebration, when he's not touring either). It was great, but I think he's limiting himself a little bit on the vocals. Just my opinion. Expect to see a lot of jamming again tonight. However, being that he has an off day on Saturday, I would gamble that the Friday night aftershow will be the best of them all. If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.

I like the way you think, lemoncrush!! No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I am getting worried now. Prince will probably be extremely tired by the time he makes it to Detroit for the shows on the 20th and 21st. I hope he doesn't short change us because he is fatigued after 3 concerts and 3 aftershows and only one day off. Some of his time off will be spent on the road Saturday...

The 2 ONA AfterConcerts (London and Las Vegas) that I attended were relatively vocal-free. Since Vegas was the end of the tour, I think the focus on jamming reflects the primary purpose of the events and a measure of discipline in avoiding the risk of injuring one's voice, by doing back-to-back vocal marathons.

Yes, I agree with you completely. I don't blame him at all for resting his voice in the middle of what looks to be an extended world tour. I was just making the observation. With no show on Saturday, I would just guess that he might sing a bit more tonight. If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.

Honestly, I think it depends on the person. I enjoyed the show, but I could see Conversation Piece (the opening band that played for nearly 85 minutes) anytime I want at Jazzmines in MPLS for a $5 cover. Being a Mpls native and seeing Prince countless times over the years at Paisley Park, it probably wasn't worth it for me. Driving out to Paisley, and paying $50 to see a local band, followed by a fun, but not earthshattering performance when I had to work the next morning...well, I don't know. If I was from out of town and/or didn't have to work the next day, I probably would have enjoyed it much more. I think the ticket price should have been more in the range of $20. Especially for NPGMC members. But still, it's always a treat to be out at Paisley and in the presence of the man. If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.

it rocked! first he tore it up at the Xcel energy center then led us back to paisley park and rocked us some more there! the man has this incredible energy going on
i don't really care about ticket price - some people were leaving the park as we drove up at about 12:30 and they were talking about how they didn't know it'd be $50 (they announced the after party at the concert but not the cover charge) to get in. i guess for them the after-party would have been a let-down. i got a ticket through the club and i don't really care the price was a little high (that's what jobs are for) it was fun fun FUN i can't tell you how it feels to see prince back at home and on top of his world. i mean, all these years of knowing he's the best then watching him rise to the top again and prove it to the rest of the world! anyway he came out and played until about 4:00 a.m.? the sky was getting light when they turned up the lights and gently shooed us home.

I gotta say I'm a little irritated w/ fans that are complaining about the aftershows on NPGMC
I flew in from Cali, had a total of maybe 10 hours of sleep since Monday, attended the Wednesday/Thursday aftershows & bolted for the airport, came straight in to work, am tired as all hell but I'm STILL ON CLOUD 9!!! Hmm, maybe P should pick up Paisley Park & move it somewhere where folks aren't so jaded. I'd give anything to have a legend like that in my town - opening up his studio to fans, playing on a whim. Me thinks Minnie fans are quite spoiled... They complain about the wait, there being nowhere to sit, what he plays, blah blah blah... True, there's virtually nowhere to sit once inside. So when I got tired I plopped on the floor & waited. The opening acts were GREAT both nights, much better than listening to a dj spin while waiting. I'm so glad they were booked! And I love that he just kinda snuck onto the stage to jam w/ them Wednesday. When he hit the stage I was pumped & ready to go all over again. There's not a bad seat in the house @ PP so joining the crowd later (after resting somewhere) is always an option - use it folks! I figure he's gracious enough to let me in HIS "house", I'm gonna be gracious enough to play by his rules. Aftershows are unpredictable, just accept that going in. I dunno about some fans - there was a guy there last night who screamed out (twice, no less) "play some old school!" WTF?? How you gonna come in HIS house & treat him like a jukebox?? Just rudeness. Some people just don't appreciate the experience enough IMO... Don't get me wrong - I wasn't standing there grinning like an idiot all night. At one point Thursday I was thinking, "if Princey don't get his ass out here right now?!!" But he's never made me mad enough to leave or pout the whole time I'm there, even when he's come on & done 1 song before leaving! I could THANK PRINCE for many things: for letting us tour the studio to see where his inspiration gets laid down... for even having aftershows & announcing them in time for me to make arrangements ... for wearing a sleeveless shirt last night & dancing in front of me - OH MY, hee hee ... for giving me a new appreciation for "Peach" which I didn't have before last night (he ROCKED IT!)... but most of all I wanna thank him for performing a song I'd had yet to hear him do live & have wanted to hear live for SO VERY LONG... Thank you for singing Beautiful Strange last night!!! That made my night, my trip, my year! Worth every hour of missed sleep, every whack meal in Minnie (y'all need seasoning down there, lol), every dime spent 10 times over. It was also really cool when they couldn't quite end the set Wednesday night & seemed to spontaneously fall into Dear Mr. Man & The Rainbow Children Man, I didn't want either night to end. Luckily he stopped just in time for me to make my flight outta there this morning, lol (yes, I was willing to risk it ) Anyway, I'm yammering on. Just had to say how much I appreciated the PP experience. At least I can say I've been there should he stop doing Celebrations forever (please don't ever stop!!!). I'm still smiling & I should have bowed down @ P's car when he drove by me last night but I felt goofy so I didn't Anyway, THANK YOU!!! Wish I could have stayed longer, I know y'all are gonna have an insane time tonight. We're waiting for you to come back to the Bay - we like aftershows too! .
