Even though concert season is dead, Prince sells out gigs. Very odd. How did he all of a sudden become so popular? Weird.

Prince gave into the greed.

that's what makes this whole thing so weird, Prince seems to have done a deal which is rather old fashioned in terms of what most performers do nowadays:

I had read on this forum that prince would probably take 1/3 of the gross

but the article i posted reveals the artist can take as much as 90%

which is incredible.

the Tour will gross more then 50mil in US alone

so he will get a big pay day this yr

He has been top concert draw since 1997. The Emancipation Tour was the one of the top grossing tours in 1997.

They claim that Madonna will be raking in a rather small sum of 100million dollars for her 50date tour. I don't know how she'll be able to live off of that

Prince will probably WALK with a third of the gross -- meaning his personal take. I doubt the promoter is taking only 10% of the gross, and then paying the road costs, too? No way. If Prince is making 90% or whatever, then he's paying (or sharing in) from that the cost to keep the show on the road. He's personally making about $300,000 a night, my guess, depending on the venue... which is still alot of money and roughly in keeping with his "half-million a night" claim.

I don't understand how you think it's greed. He understands the market these days. He probably believes that he's not going to dominate the airwaves like he did before; or sell records like he used to. P's strongest asset has always been his live performances. Why not cash in on that? His tickets are not as expensive as many other performers...who, I might add are NOT veterans! [Examples: Justin Timberlake, Beyonce/Alicia/Missy/Tamia are a few]

I have long since wondered why ticket sales, in general, are so expensive at points. The one time I went to see Prince, I paid around $50 for my seat, and while it was in the upper reaches, it was still a pretty good seat. But to pay much more than that would really be pushing it.

Those times whe tickets are sold for over $100 really make me wonder. It's like the old scandal in the eighties, when the US government was paying $400 for an ashtray and $600 for a toilet seat. Sure the chance to be up close an personal are one thing, but what will it really do, except show people that you have financial clout. I don't live my life like that, and I don't understand why anyone else does.

outside of this tour, i can't remember when i paid $75 bucks for a prince ticket.

Speaking of Promoters. . . .does anyone know how to CONTACT the promoter??
The reason I am asking is because, I want to make sure I will have a descent spot at the show in August.
I asked the NPGMC and they told me that it is up to the promoter where members are seated within the special area. I just don't want to be 10 feet from the stage and stuck behind people who are 6'2".. . . .AGAIN!!!
If anyone has any ideas or suggestion. . PLEASE. . PLEASE leave me an org note.
