Any thoughts/reviews of the Webster Hall gig in NYC? Did anyone here manage to see the show at Webster Hall on tuesday? I was not able to get on the list in time but I went over there anyway about two hours before and saw that they had a purple carpet layed out. I also saw Renato Neto sneaking a cigarette. I didn't go up to him and bother him, but I suppose I could have. I really regret missing this show.

I was there! You could have actually gone inside. They were letting people in who weren't on the list. Not many, but some.
So anyway, we were told to arrive at 4pm, which most of us did, although some people were there at 3;30. They didn't start letting people in until around 4:30. But we got to see Prince and the band come right in the front door. They pulled up in vans! So we got inside and they herded us downstairs to the basement where had to fill out release forms and have our picture taken. We waited there for 2+ hours, until around 7pm, with just water! They didn't give us any food. But it was fun because people had tambourines and were singing all sorts of Prince songs. In the meantime, the event staff told some people they were the number "8". They got to go up first. I was all, I want to go up to! So we got herded upstairs around 7pm, where the staff spent a lot time putting people in the "right place." Here is where we found out that some of the "8" people got to sit *on stage*. But when the show actually started, I was glad I didn't get picked because all they could see was Prince's back whereas we could see him from the front. Also, Candy, Maceo and the other horn player stood right in front of some of thhe people who were on stage. So they were blocked. Prince played Musicology, Dear Mr. Man and an acoustic set with Never Take the Place of Your Man, Sweet Thing, and Sometimes it Snows in April. There may have been another acoustic song? I can't rememer at this moment. Then the band came back for Life o the Party, Soul Man and Kiss. It ended after that. It was a very intimate show. I would say no more than 400 people. We were so close we could count the wrinkles on his face
