Short Cleveland Review

Gund Arena was easy to find. I made the 4 hour trip from East Lansing, MI, got right to the arena parking, right up to Will Call, right into the concourse, and right into our seats, section 1 row D. My last name begins with a V, I had to have been one of the first to buy tickets on-line, and I received my tickets are about 7:50pm. It seems there is little method to the madness, HOWEVER, there were the same people you see again at the front of all the shows I've been to. I wouldn't be suprised if the NPGMC has some favorites and helps them out. wink

K...enough Speculation.

Great concert. We all know that the Detroit show will rock harder, but Cleveland gave good energy back to the band. Here are some highlights

- A waif, dressed and a Purple Symbol shaped dress that really left NOTHING to the imagination got to work her thang during the on stage segment (Kiss/Life of the Party). While not extordinarily beautiful, she was cute, her body was pretty tight, but her outfit was OUTSANDING. Truly part of the Rude Boy mentality. It looked almost like something you would see on a caracture on the NPGMC avatars or Retail room. It was hot. Great color, great design, and a nice figure to put it on.

- Candy Dulfer is NOT as thick as she seems on TV/DVD. She looks like normal, healthy woman. It's Prince who is just so danged skinny!

- I love Candy Dulfer.

- Drunken chicks with their drunken boyfriends/husbands in front of me, dropped thier beers under thier seats and seaked the floor all around them. Hope you had a good time.

- Meeting people and talking Prince before the concert. People who aren't exactly die-hards are the most fun. They remember so much and love sharing their best memories, and enjoy hearing any experiences you had.

- Puple Rain was outstanding.

- The Question of U was OUTSTANDING.

- DMSR is so sweet live! And Let's Work! AND U Got the Look! AND Kiss! This is up there with the best concert setlists I've seen live. Just needs to add about another 6 songs and we're good. wink

The afterparty was at the Spy Club in the Warehouse district. On this strip are a bunch of NICE clubs and restaruants. It was great seeing people of all colors dressed up and having a good night out on the town (not just for a Prince concert). You get that in Detroit, but not much outside of the larger cities.

The DJ was spinning old 80's dance classics like Atomic Dog, Rick James, El Debarge, etc. Downstairs was Hip-Hop. The bar itself was FANTASTIC. A lot of thick woods on the walls, two large bars, and one bar in a hideaway room. Plenty of pleaces to lounge, a fireplace, a good sized dance floor, and the raised stage.

When it was time for Prince to come in, we werwe all told to leave the dance platform and make room. The head security then had the DJ get a mike ready. Everybody was pushing up a little, but not too hard at all. I had the pleasure of feeling a lot of breasts on my back, since I was the last off the platform and right up against the DJ booth where the security was. The door was opened for Prince and Mani, they stepped in the door for about a second and was like "this is it? anything a little less open?" and the head security took them to the other entrances. He waved good bye. Literally like 20 seconds. HIlarious.

The details there are mostly for those who are into that, because seeing Prince is cool, but not the end be all of my life. It just so happens that I find myself in the right place and time. smile

I decided that I should just enjoy the night, dance, watch the Purple Rain movie that was on a plasma screen, and have fun before making the long trip home and stayed till the bar closed. During the night, I was able to meet and give respect to Chance Howard, John Blackwell, and CANDY DULFER! Next time I'm getting up the courage to ask her if she wants to recreate the "One Nite Alone..." wink She's very pretty, speaks perfect English, and just radiates goodness. *swoons*

Oh yeah...the lesbians who were dirty dancing with each other were kewl too, but nothing compares! Seriously! wink

Anywho, I look forward to Detroit, and hope we can have a good time there.

- Cheers!

Oh, thank God I didn't stay for the afterparty!!! I had to drive home to Columbus, and I wasn't about to do that drunk, so it was either get a hotel and hope that he would play an aftershow or drive home and hope he didn't play an aftershow. wink

Ok...so I have read several posts from NPGMC members about their tickets being behind the drums, keys, etc. Mine were section 1, row 4. What a freakin view! The seats were on Rhonda's side just far enough back that I could see Prince 99% of the time. When he was in the center of the stage he was framed by that pole thingy. Kinda neat. I have been to 4 of his concerts and, though I was as close to the stage this time as during ONA, this performance was above and beyond. I almost started to cry when he began Rasberry Beret. It is my favorite of all and he hadn't included it up until now. It was like a special treat. My friend, who is not really a fan, told me that he was blown away by the concert. I triiiied to tell him! LOL. He was especially impressed with Candy. He couldn't get over how good she is. He used to play sax and has an idea of what is good and bad. "She was the shiznit", according to him. LOL SO for all those out there who have yet to attend, Get yo house in orda cause P's gonna set yo roof on fyer!

I agree the Cleveland show was amazing, but I say that everytime i see him. I sat farther away than everyone I think, I was a little dissapointed at 1st but once the concert started i realized I had great seats I could see every part of the stage i wasnt stuck to one part.

Everything was as great as I thought it was going to be except for the people i had to sit next to, but what else can i ask for, everything else was wonderful

I never saw the screens in columbus either - turns out I must have just been too close since in Cleveland I was a little further back and the screen was right above me.
