RANDOM NOTES: State College is located in remote central Pennsylvania...Bryce Jordan Arena was not sold out. In fact, both ends of the upper deck were blocked out by large black curtains. Attendance was somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000, many of whom were Penn State students (the arena is on the campus of Penn State University)...1500 tickets were given away free to members of the US military...."Illusion, Coma, Pimp, & Circumstance" and "Call My Name" were played over the PA prior to show, and John Blackwell used the opportunity to excite the crowd, handing out literally dozens of drumsticks to the people in the first few rows around the stage...Prince referred to the crowd as "Penn State" throughout the show, remarking during "Musicology" that "School's in!"...In a departure from past shows, Prince appeared in an all red outfit with black accents and sunglasses to start the show..."Alphabet St." was added to the acoustic set for the first time on tour..."After Midnight" was inserted into the set following "Sign O' The Times" and in place of "The Question Of U--Fallin'" for the first time on tour. It was played "plugged-in" (reminescient of "The Ride") and not acoustically as it has been in the past...

How did you arrive at the 10,000 in attendance number as well as what was given to who?

I thought it was very normal for him to refer to the crowd as Penn State.....afterall, that's where he was playing. I've been to several concerts at the Jordan Center and as I recall, the crowd had always been referred to in the same manner. Just noting that because I got the feeling that you found it strange.

I have no idea how many were in attendance, but there were black out curtain on the top sections. Someone said that the student received seats ($35) for the top section only.

Didn't know about the military, but hey, if he gave away tickets to them good. They deserve it.

Love meeting all the Purple People before and after the show. Thanks to Dianne, she made my trip to (excuse me Dianne) Cow Country a welcomed one.

BTW: I never in my life smelled more cow shit than I did on my way back home. P U!!!!

I'm not mad just curious, is all I heard that the tix went for around 29.00 and they opened up 3 rows of floor seats 2 days b4 the show to the 29.00 ticket holders ..now that makes me mad! see?

You are VERY welcome for the meet and greet. it was no big deal getting it together. well, it was a bit of a pain in the ass..., but it was worth it though! I had a wonderful time!

Regarding "Penn State"...I didn't find it odd at all. Just pointed it out as the actual city is State College and usually that's how he addresses the crowd.

Now you have me curious as to how many people were there. I am gonna call the Jordan Center today and ask a ticket window manager or something....'cause I am anal like that

i would be curious too as far as how many were there ....

as I was driving in ... i think their sign out front said it was "sold out" ... which i was under the impression all week from the radio reports --- that it was not sold out ...

I thought Bryce Jordan seated around 12,000 for like basketball games, etc ... but i could be alittle off ... even tho the upper sections were "curtained off" ... they may still consider it a sell out because of the floor seats that were sold .... who knows ....

I thought the show and set list was both fantastic --- I went up with a guy who was a music degree graduate who has seen many bands ... and this was his first Prince show --- and he said it was awesome and he could see why people follow him all around the world ...

If i had to say any negative comments - and i really hate to say these ... BUT ... i did notice what i thought was the sound was not perfect - there were multiple times the Prince said somethin ... and i could nt understand it ....

ALSO --- my "third row" seats were kinda lame 3rd row ... because of spacing , etc .... i felt some of the other times i have seen Prince ... were better ....

but again ... to accentuate the positive ---- loved it ....
