Us Aussies were telling you guys months ago how awesome this tour is but you didn't pay any attention or didnt believe us.

We weren't raving about it for no good reason.

Best Prince concert ever!! I'm not just saying that either. I was not in the mood to see another "greatest hits" show. I'm the type of fan who would rather see him perform the entire Musicology CD and sprinkle in some less popular classics like Anna Stesia, Something in the Water and Last December. But, I was shocked at how truly great the show was. Donny

Yes, Donny, I totally totally agree with you. That's how my review of the concert started too...

"I realized that I hadn't seen Prince in concert since 1998 at the MCI Center in Washington, DC (with the infamous sunflower incident that I shall not speak about at this time). I personally had gotten tired of "the hits" and truly wasn't looking forward to hearing the "same old songs" again. I had been frustrated through most of the late 1990s with his concerts focusing on the hits and not playing songs from NewPowerSoul, Emancipation, etc.

But last night's concert changed my mind completely. Not only did we hear "the hits" but also, for more serious fans like us, we heard some popular but not often-heard songs like "Shhh..." and "Insatiable" that I can't remember if I ever heard him play live before. It was incredible."

And the rest of my review of the Alhambra, CA simulcast:

First of all, congrats to you youngins who can still stay up late and not feel it. I'm draggin' so bad today and I was in bed by 11:30 PM (woke up at 5:15 tho).

The sold-out simulcast in Alhambra (theatre B) was great. Not as great as being there in person, I'm sure, but great nonetheless.

HIGHLIGHTS:
- stadium seating with great sound and a huge screen
- incredibly well-directed satellite feed with enough cameras to catch ALL the action, most of it in close-up; I swear it looked as professionally edited like a concert DVD you would buy. They HAVE to release it and it could be just this entire LA concert performance. At the beginning they showed some famous people like No Doubt and Eddie Murphy taking their seats.
- free Musicology CD
- sold out crowd in Theatre B had lots of energy (and they also did the cellphone thingy but some people had lighters too)
- performances of... Musicology, Shhh..., D M S R, The Beautiful Ones, Insatiable (and I don't even like this song!), Sign 'O' The Times, The Question Of U (my all time fave)/The One, On the Couch, Sometimes It Snows in April
- Candy Dulfer singing (I'm out of it but I didn't know she sang)
- all this for only $16!

LOWLIGHTS:
- horrible MapQuest directions that had me going south when I shoulda gone north! made it to the theatre at 7:50 PM and luckily there was no line
- having to go there alone
- the saxaphone guy holding the note forever - not my cup o'tea (and besides I don't like Candy Dulfer getting overshadowed)
- Prince telling me to "open the bible" during Purple Rain

QUESTIONS:
- was it me or did Prince forget the lyrics to Little Red Corvette, mix up some of the verses, but cover it fairly well?

What a tremendous show!!! Prince laid out one of the most killer performances of his career!!. There was one particular moment when prince was in the middle of the acoustic set when he stopped playing and just sat there for a moment, mayby thinking what to play next, or just getting into the vibe when a few seconds of relative quiet passed then the place just errupted. Everyone all 18,000 of us was screeming and yelling at the top of there lungs. It was defening, but it was pure love and and what felt like worship for one of the most ibeautiful and incredible artists of our life time!. Thanks for a tremendous show Prince.

Last night was definetly the best concert I have ever seen. The man tops himself everytime. His guitar playing was dead on and inspiring, so I grabbed my guitar the second I got home and started playing smile . My friend's girlfriend was in tears and I almost lost it too. It just made my day the second he played "Forever In My Life" on acoustic and "7".
I noticed all the celebs last night as well, but what was the coolest thing I saw was Christian Slater dancing and singing to almost every song (didn't know he was a fan). All the other celebs were just standing there looking almost uninterested. I meet some very cool fans and that was great too biggrin . I can't wait to see Prince again in Anaheim. Take care all.
Peace
Jimi

To answer a previous question, I am an NPGMC member and was seated on the floor in the 2nd row behind Blackwell, but in front of me in the 1st row was a couple who actually got their tickets through ticketmaster or some online site where they printed tickets out from. I was shocked, I thought that the whole floor was supposed to be NPGMC.

The LA show ranks high as one of his greatest shows. Watching him go through a library of his work with a top flight band was amazing. The guitar was on fire every time he touched it, and for those of you who didn't care for Mike Scott on the guitar on previous tours shouldn't be disappointed on this one. I haven't heard DMSR live in years and it was funky. Just like a LA Lakers game the celeberities were there (Paul Stanley, Babyface, Eddie Murphy, the lady who plays Nikki on Young & The Restless, No Doubt, Gavin Rossdale from Bush). I recommend for those who have never seen Prince live, get a ticket if he comes to or near your town!!

PS

On the ONA Tour in 2002 he did his solo set on piano on this tour or at least tonight it was on acoustic guitar.

Now we are just like a million people waiting for him to come to Europe. And then I need to add that he actually did BOTH an accoustic guitar AND piano solo set in Copenhagen during the ONA 2002.

That sounds disturbing. I thought that was suppossed to be the deal. Sounds like a question to be posed to the NPGMC chat room.

None the less, I watched the feed in Alahambra. Incredible. I'm hitting the last May and Vegas gigs. Looking forward to it with a funky passion.

Hey, what's up with the LA Times not reviewing the concert? No review in yesterday's (Tuesday's paper) and today only an article about him giving away the CD with the concert tickets. What's up?
