Anxiety

I was sooo close to making a trip out to NYC for a long weekend for just that reason, but I just couldn't swing it moneywise, and can't swing it schedule-wise now. sad

i feel like this is obvious, but just in case it's not...these big awards shows that get televised need to have their seats filled at all times. someitmes, if people don't show up they get people from outside to be 'seat fillers'. if you can't get an invite or buy a ticket from someone, don't give up. i have friends that have pulled this off several times. give it a try.

or do what i would do in new york on a monday...get down to canal street and go shopping!!

Well... the club (BLACK) is on 56th & 11th.... There are some Hotels around 57th & 7th but they are gonna be pricey I'm sure...
If I were you... I'd take the train in that night... the show will end around 4 or 5:00 am... grap some quick breakfast & get back on the train... it's a long train ride... might as well sleep then
instead of paying $300 to sleep somewhere and then be awake for 3 hours on the train...

But that'a just me...

I can't wait for this show... I cant even THINK about sleep right now...

incognito

Check http://www.hotels.com

I used that last year to stay at the Metropolitan on 55th and 8th Avenue (four blocks - 2 Chicago city blocks) from this club that's one block up and three over). It cost me $99 for one night. Do It!

I wish I could be there but I don't have the airfare money to fly in on Monday and out on Tuesday. sad

So, everyone going, celebrate Prince's induction for me too. Dance until your hearts are exploding from being one with the music--so I can feel it back here in Chicago.

Thanks for the hotel information everyone! biggrin I ended up getting nervous that I might not find a room so I booked a room this morning at the Wolcott Hotel on W. 31st. Street. It's a couple of blocks from Penn Station. It was $101 for a room.

Here's a link to the hotel in case anyone else is looking for a room:

Woo-hoo, I can't wait to see Prince!!!!

Does anyone know how close the Mayfair New York Hotel 242 W.49th street is to the club,
or Waldorf Astoria ?
I was thinging about canceling the reservation at the Waldorf, but something tells me that i would see alot of famous people there, but i could also stay somewhere cheaper like the Mayfair and just hang out at the Waldorf .
Any advice ?

Why do you think it will end so late? isn't he playing at the induction ceremony as well?

Just past experience....

The aftershow can't start until 1:00am AT THE EARLIEST... and he will play until 3 - 3:30 at the least...

After the ONA concert at Lincoln Center he did the aftershow at The World... I left that club at 4:27 in the morning... ! Another aftershow after a Radio City show in '94(?) at Club NYC he Jammed w/ Lenny Kravitz until 3:45... This show just has ALL THE EARMARKS of something special...

I am too sad. I will be going for my NYC weekend next weekend not this. Ordered my tickets in December when they were cheap. No reason why I chose that weekend and not this. I live too far away from everything always. Oslo, Norway.

The Mayfair is much closer to the club, probably 15 minutes walking distance. (North seven blocks, and then West for about five).
If you are trying to catch celebs, however, the Waldorf is easily your best bet, and you could just take a cab to the show. I work about six blocks from there, and I see major celebs all the time as this is one of the richest parts of town.
Alternate route to the club from the Waldorf: Walk north on Park ave to 57th st. Take the M57 bus to 11th ave. (It's only 1.50, versus maybe $10 or more for a cab.

Hope that helps!

I was told that this club is HUGE like 4000 - 5000 capacity . It used to be Club EXIT. I guess that is why tickets aren't sold out yet .
