Star Tribune: Back in purple BACK IN PURPLE
Out of the blue, the Purple One called Wendy Melvoin, his old nemesis in Prince and the Revolution, and invited her to come to a rehearsal in L.A. for a benefit, which turned out to be TV's "The Tavis Smiley Show." After years of estrangement, she hung out with Prince and his current band for two hours, and practiced "Reflection," a new tune. "The next day, it was just him and me [on TV], and he was gorgeous," Wendy told I.W. "He was the guy I knew when I first met him." "New Power slide...."

I had wondered how that event came about. It was good to see the two of them performing together again. Guess Prince is growing as a person and seeing the benefits in letting go.

Prince ... invited her to come to a rehearsal in L.A. for a benefit, which turned out to be TV's "The Tavis Smiley Show." I see. Charity begins with Prince, according to that account.

Ain't that a bit harsh? Just another way for a journalist to put a rather melodramatic spin on things. "They were friends who had a falling out" just doesn't sound as interesting. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Yes, Prince is her father and yet he manages to defy the basic restraints of reality and time itself. What a guy. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

According to this, Nikka told Prince that Wendy was working in the studio next door. Apparently he took the initiative from there.
I agree, 'nemesis" was harsh and inaccurate. You better wake up, Stella. This is my town!

A lot of people would be no where without Prince, Wendy is not one of them. Remember that time that Wendy dressed up like a Solid Gold dancer reject in purple sequins and got on Prince's motorcycle?? Oh wait...that wasn't her [This message was edited Fri Feb 27 9:15:37 2004 by EverlastingNow] [This message was edited Fri Feb 27 9:18:15 2004 by EverlastingNow]

Thus my less than glowing opinion of Wendy - she wouldnt exist if it were not for Prince. Ironically the last Wendy & Lisa album (under Girl Bros. psuedonym) is better than anything Prince has released in the last 10 years. Lets hope he can at least match their effort with the new album.

depends on the style of music you like.....fruit at the bottom is very "prince" and prince's funk fans seem to love this album... eroica and girlbros are very eclectic....sorta alt rock/funk.....if you enjoy subtle nuances and mood then you will love it...if your more a fan of glossed pop....you wont. I thought the Prince and Wendy duo was really sweet. More please! I hope the Purple One hooks up with her and Lisa again. Lately his funk has been half-assed! I can see them bringing their old Sly and the Family Stone records around to his house and jamming.... babyjones

Fruit At The Bottom is great album IMO Eroica is a bit on the boring side and the Girl Bros album is really impressive, the production alone makes Princes way over-produced albums kinda plastic.
