Mauve's Hawaii report highlights, as reported to a2grafix

Mauve said it was the best week she has ever had from meeting all her friends before, during and after the Family Jamm to the exclusive Hawaiian gigs. She might never make it back to Hawaii, but now she can officially say she has been to the South Pacific.

Yeah, have to agree with the throng of women rushing the stage in Maui. Mauve called Detroit a few times the past week, after the Family Jamm and after the Honolulu gig, and Saturday afternoon (1pm Detroit/7am Hawaii time) to give up a highlight or two.

Mauve said she has had limited access to the internet, so no report other than what was recited over the phone. She told me that Takumi, Prince's guitar tech, handed Mauve a bottle of water during the Honolulu gig and said that she came a long way for the gig.

Fast-forward to Friday, and Mauve said she was in the second row at the Maui Arts amphitheatre, and in front of her was Dana Carvey, comedian and actor. Mauve also spotted Ziggy Marley, who also with his band, the Melody Makers, was on the islands the past week for his own set of gigs. Mauve said Ziggy was on the stage but offstage to the left.

Mauve said that when the concertgoers rushed the stage in Maui, she helped with Trevor, one of Prince's bodyguards, to calm down the situation. And for any of you who have met Mauve, she can handle her own.

Oh, and Prince handed her a tambourine during either the soundcheck or gig in Honolulu and and after the O'ahu island gig, she was known as the "tambourine girl." Prince was in a playful and great mood at both of the aftergigs, the two first ever aftergigs played by Prince on the island. She was pretty much front and center.

For those wanting to know a little bit about the hoppin' venue called Hapa's Niteclub, here is the link to the site.

Too bad Mauve's vacation is over. When she called Saturday early afternoon to Detroit, she was en route to the mainland, to Phoenix and Las Vegas, before returning home to Motown. She has to be at work Monday bright and early.

For those of you in Motown and are within driving distance, Mauve will be in attendance at this year's HollyQuake HouseParty. She has pictures of the family jamm and from Hawaii.

Hopefully she will respond in kind here to this thread to flesh out her experience. I have been to Hawaii twice in my lifetime, once to see Prince back in February 1997 (annivesary experience), so I know of what she speaks of the islands.

Mauve gives thanks to wishuhvn for all of his hospitality near Pearl Harbor.

The best thing about the phone calls -- all were local phone calls! Myself and applekisses dailed the normal cell phone number and was connected to Mauve in Hawaii! Amazing. No toll or extra change. A local call! As Applekisses would say, "Love It."

Hello from Phoenix, just a quick note, I wasnt helping Trevor, just the local guy who was placed by Takumi. It was a mob and I was next to the guitars so we locked arms to keep them safe. Should be home sometime tonite and have to work on Monday. Happy Holidays and see the crew at my house for the HollyQuake
