Diamonds & Pearls Down Under Vs Live? For those that saw the D&P Tour as well as this one, how do the crowds compare.
I hadn't seen him in Australia before as I was living in the UK. To be honest I was really concerned, especially with the Brisbane crowd - I almost got kicked out of Simply Red a few years back 'cos I wouldn't sit down! And Mick Hucknall actually yelled at the crowd to get off their fucking arses! I was pleasantly surprised and blown away with the crowds and Brisbane took the roof off! He was clearly loving it, evidenced by the fact that he played for 3 hours give or take 10 minutes!! In the distance a light shines and I know it is mine. Someday I will touch it because it calls me. It says cross the line, cross the line. I know everything is not always what it seems, so I pinch myself daily just in case it's a dream

I saw 3 shows back in 92 and they were great and the crowd got into it.
However, this latest tour was even better (alot better really) and the crowds went off in both Sydney and Melbourne. In summary, 92 was great but 2003 was way better, both with the crowd and his performances. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

From my point of view, this one was a heap better (but i don't know if Im judging that on the fact that this tour I got soundcheck, 3rd row concert, plus meeting up with some of the band and getting up close to him at The Basement, as compared to '92 where all I got was the concert, which I was about half way back).
Having said that though, This show was more of a no frills, less stage props than D&P tour, although I loved his stage entrance in '92 in the glass tube. But I would have to say this current tour wins out on 2 reasons, Song Selection and Band. 4 me the current NPG configuration is HOT!. '92 NPG were cool, but i get too many Tony M flashbacks that ruin it 4 me. D&P tour was based on that CD as well as a greatest hits mix, but the songs from the 2003 tour raised the bar on all of that. That's where I stand on this subject 4 the moment. yeah 4 sure guys this tour ripped it up!!
eye went 2 4 of the sydney dandp shows and the only fantastic memory eye have of it was the fact that it was Princes 1st tour of Australia which made the excitement even better and more nerv racking. It was an awesome moment when me and my bro saw him up on stage 4 the 1st time ever in our lives. But as far as the show is concerned this tour was alot better. More guitar solos from memory and of course, the piano segment which ive always wanted 2 c Prince do. And as Dnaplaya said this band was alot better as well, especially 2 have witnessed what eye believe is Princes best drummer 2 date...Johnny Blackwell, unbelievable. On that note eye might start a post on who ure favourite band members were and how yall would love 2 have it. Peace. Dom. If ure radio aint on the FUNK, then ure radio aint on!!!
