there are very very very few people who could answer this question ...

probably 1% of australian orgers have seen any other tour except for Diamonds & Pearls.
Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

OK I've seen: Nude (once), D&P (three times), Act II (three times), Gold (3 times) and now 'Prince Live'(surely there must be a better name for the tour) (three times).
Probably a bit too soon to be making a rational judgement, but I would say the band is the best I have seen him perform with... and he seems to have been in a great mood which has really shown in the performances. So at the moment I'm thinking this is the best out of the tours I have personally witnessed (wouldn't want to comment on the other tours...)

Dnaplaya told me this tour beats the pants off the Diamonds and Pearls tour.

I'm sure it does...Prince is on fire right now!

Anyone who has heard any tapes or CDs or mp3s of past tours and have seen/heard the new tour could answer this question. Unless you are judging the lighting as a big part of your answer.

I suspect this tour is great because Prince is almost always great live. He will never be as exciting as he was in the late 80s/early 90s, but he still has many great shows left in him.

Also, performing self-censored versions of his songs definitely takes this tour down a few notches.

Sorry can't agree with that.
Listening to a crappy sounding boot can hardly compare to being there front row with perfect sound

Prince Tours are highly visual shows with a few exceptions.
You can't deny that is a large part of the experience
If it is not - why do people always want front row seats ? why don't they just get back row tickets and sit there with their eyes closed for the entire show ?

I have heard bootlegs of every tour, I have possibly 500 different shows but I consider myself in no way qualified to comment on how this tour was compared to any of those.

True ANYONE COULD answer this question, but most of them would be talking out of their ass.

My first concert was Parade back in '86 and I haven't missed a tour yet including every single night of the Lovesexy Tour through Europe which included 22 nights at Wembley Arena. So I think I am qualified in making comparisons from my own personal perspective but what one person likes better than another will differ greatly and for many different reasons.

By far, out of all tours this is the one where we have seen him relaxed, enjoying himself and most of all simply being a musician. No fancy stage set, lighting, dancers etc, they should have called the tour "In The Raw".

Parade is way up there for the sheer fact that it was the first time I had been in the same continent, city, building, space and time with him! Sign O The Times becuase everyone thought I was nuts spending my money and holidays on going to see a concert overseas (this started a trend and I haven't stopped since).

By far and away though top of my list was Lovesexy for so many reasons.
In the distance a light shines and I know it is mine. Someday I will touch it because it calls me. It says cross the line, cross the line. I know everything is not always what it seems, so I pinch myself daily just in case it's a dream

Perfect sound? Yeah but it was so loud my arm-hairs were vibrating. Sure I heard the concert but nothing else for the next day and a half... hehe.

So Lovesexy was the best but this tour is up there with Parade and Sign o the Times?

I take it that you agree with a few other people I have spoken to that have seen him for many years that this is the best show since the 80's? Certainly at least for the quality of the musicianship?

I made friends with a guy, Chris, from London who has seen all the tours since Lovesexy in 1988. He thought that this tour was the best since Lovesexy.

Big compliment I think.

Prince performing 22 concerts at wembley arena during Lovesexy and you were there?
You must be confused. Prince did NOT perform 22 times at Wembley.

Yes, in my own opinion Lovesexy was the best, this tour isn't up there with any of them cos this one was so different. I guess in a way it is like comparing apples with oranges. For some people who were virgins they would be feeling like I was after Parade. First time and all that and you never forget your first!

Bit hard to put into words, the show was awesome but it is hard to make comparisons on things that are so different.

One thing I will say is that compared to all the others of any era, any tour, any performance this was by far the FUNKIEST!!! Like I said this was RAW. No gimmicks, no fancy sets, not a huge of amount of audience interaction, pure unadulterated music and vocals. In some ways it was the closest he has ever been with the audience and vice versa. If music is your heart and soul and the wasy in which you communicate with others and you give it all you got like these performances have been then we have shared in something very special.

Music is his lifeblood. Someone once said to me that when they met him one of the things he said was "when I want to sleep I'll play a C chord and if I want to have sex I'll play G minor".

There are times when his eyes are closed and there are no vocals and he'll play a chord on the piano or a certain riff on the guitar and you can feel it go right through you. This is a God given gift and he shares it with us in this way.

Damn I wish I could think of better words to use or phrase it a bit differently but I hope y'all understand what I am saying!

Maybe that figure is not right, I'll pull out my box and check, I know it was a hell of a lot. Going over to Europe and then coming back to London and then over to Europe and then coming back again, it was back and forth for months.

This I would gladly do, Lovesexy changed my life. However it would require a very long piece of writing that I am not sure everyone would want to read. I am happy to post if enough people are interested though.

In a nutshell Lovesexy was a show of two halves. The first half was Camille, the second Prince. It explained why we shouldn't buy the Black album and why Lovesexy was the one.

It was not just a concert, it was a full theatre production, not just songs, lot's of talking. Prince had a story to tell and he wanted to be heard.

Combined with the opportunity to catch the brilliant soundchecks and aftershows it's been a dream come true. I've only experienced other tours through boots/videos but I couldn't have asked for more. At every show at least a couple of songs were played for the first time...every soundcheck was completely different. I had great seats for every show. I could have only dreamed that I would have got to see such fantastic versions of songs I've loved for close to twenty years.

My suggestion is that if your going to check out a number of shows in upcoming tours, prepare yourself like an athlete because I'm totally physically shattered after squeezing every ounce of concert experience I could out of it.

It seems insane doesn't it but you somehow find the money, I actually have a Prince fund that I put into regularly! I knew when I moved out to Australia I would have to go to Europe or the States as Australia seemed to drop off the map in the last decade.

Following him for 20 years you meet some amazing people from all over the world and become part of one big family so accommodation never an issue, I had friends from UK and the States staying with me for the past couple of weeks for these gigs.

I'll never be in a position again like I was back in the 80's and early 90's though, the older you get the more responsibilities you seem to have so no taking off for 8 weeks or so (although I do have 6 weeks holiday owing so far for next year!!) hhmmm, wish there'd be some dates announced so I can plan!!
