That last part, is what I would have loved to see I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

Excellent show --- not really five hours if you take out the 30 minute intermission after chaka's set Marva king, doug e fresh, andre cymone and kip blackshire saw a little more action than other performers. First half of the show seemed more star heavy , second half was more for the true fans. 3rdeyegirl tunes and Michael B in the second half Mayte's dance could have been cut in half Overall show was an A- Morris Hayes did a nice job as musical director -- kept it moving

I agree that it was much better than I was expecting - especially with how late everything was announced. I didn't hear about Anita Baker and Christina Aguilera dropping out until I got home from the show. I kept wondering when CA would come out, mostly because there were so many very young people where I was sitting that I thought that might have been the reason they showed. But some of them stayed to the very end, and even seemed to know the songs that are not the Top Prince Hits. That made me very hopeful, somehow.
I didn't lose it until Purple Rain. When I realized they were using a vocal track and accompanying it, I cried. But it was probably the best possible way to go if they were going to play Purple Rain.
Both this concert and the videos I've seen from the Revolution concert, I have to say how much respect I have for André. I'd not really heard much from him since the 1980s, so it was a pleasant suprise to hear how great his playing and singing is. Someone near me asked who the guy who sounded and looked like Prince was. Boy, can you tell the two of them formed each other musically as young people.
If anyone knows of a full setlist - or is putting one together - could you share it?

Donna Grantis, Ida Nielson, Liv, Mono Neon, Kip Blackshire, Morris Hayes, Michael Bland, Kirk Johnson, Stevie Wonder, André, Chaka, Judith, Tommy B., Cassie on the keys, Bobby Z., Marva, Shelby, Sonny T. So many more, the horns, ... so much music that Prince influenced or gave to us. Mayte, the Twins and so many more. It was a fantastic show that included so much excellent, varied talent. I came for positive closure. Instead all I could do was Cry, I thought it would help to move forward.......I really wanted to try so I danced a little too. It actually made me miss Prince now more than ever, no show, no musician, nothing will ever be able to replace Prince. I'm grateful and proud of this loving tribute to Prince....thank U to all, family and friends who put it together, so we could come to pay our respects, love and honor Prince!! 2Gether 4Ever

Review from the Star Tribune. Jon Bream is right, no one compares to the man himself. But the thought and effort is what counts the most. I do take issue though with his quibble about lacking Star power. This was a tribute to Prince. As long as the performances were good it shouldn't matter whether an A-lister was performing them or not. Real fans would be more interested in hearing those who worked and toured with Prince than people who are there just because they bring so-called star power.

For the most part NPG was super super tight. You can tell he trained them well. Nice to see Tony M. no matter how corny he is/was I was happy to hear "Sexy MF"

Perfect tribute. One of his most important legacies are his live performances with his great bands. His former band members did him right. They put so much effort into it and it showed. The other singers that attended were really just sideshows. This tribute was about his music played by his great musicians. "Real music by real musicians" in a nutshell. It was not some prepackaged ahow, so there were some times some editing may have been good but that was fine because that is how Prince rolled. I cannot even name all of the highlights, but I preferred all the songs sung by NPG and associated artists best. Mint condition tore the house down. Was happy they played hits and lots of songs for hardcore fans. Before they played Purple Rain, I said there is no right way to do this. They pulled the impossible and got it right. They got it perfect. That gave us closure. Seeing him leave the stage at the end was just perfect. The opening video about how our Prince was a Prince for so many people and never took credit was so touching. He saved a young boys life by flying doctors in to help him. He did so much for others and it should inspire us to do the same. Thank you to the family and his former band members for doing this for our Prince. You all did him right. He was there with us last night.

Found out that Morris day and the time stayed at my hotel. When I got there yesterday they just went to the xcel center and they came back to their rooms after their two song set at 10:30 pm, got their equipment and headed to first avenue

Short of Tina Turner showing up to perform "Let's Pretend We're Married", I can't see anyone else with "star power" having been able to add anything to what was indeed a really good show. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I followed along on Periscope and I loved it. They didn't need Beyonce or shoot even Christina Aguilera to pull this off! I don't care what anyone says, they got it right! I cried when I heard Princes vocals for Purple Rain. I was happy they chose to have Prince sing it than to have someone up there butchering it. I would've loved to have been there but happy I was able to watch. [Edited 10/14/16 8:09am]

Hi, friends! I'm still worn out from last night, but I wanted to chime in about the show. It was well and truly EPIC. Aside from a few timing and lyrical snags, it went very well. There were a lot of performers to wrangle. LOL! Chaka and Stevie were highlights for me, as well as getting to see Mayte perform for the first time. I also got to see the NPG members who played with Prince back when I became a fan in 1995 (Sonny, Mr. Hayes, Tommy, Michael B), which made me very nostalgic. The whole thing was very bittersweet, and I was a wreck every time they showed videos of Prince, also during "Sometimes it Snows", "Diamonds and Pearls" (the first Prince song I remember hearing as a child), and that "Purple Rain" finale!! It gave me chills to hear our beloved Prince's voice, and to see the whole crew take the stage, along with members of the family. I filmed it with my "real" camera, so I will upload it after flying back home to Seattle. After the show, my best friend and I ran downstairs to gather some of the confetti that fell during Purple Rain. Mr. Hayes was meeting and greeting with some folks, so I chatted with him for a bit too. He asked me if they did good, and I gave him an enthusiastic yes, and thanked him from the bottom of my heart for doing this. It was really something, and I can't believe that it all worked out. Here are s few pics, including the lineup and also a t-shirt with some of the confetti. Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com
