There were countless extended and spirited guitar solos, like Prince was possessed. The blend of new and old trax was almost perfect and kept the audience's attention. I've cobbled together the setlist from memory and a few other sources. The last five songs on it were the final encore -- which was most certainly the best encore that I've ever seen him do.

Philly76 said: Prince played a concert and the thread about it only has 2 pages. I remember when ppl posted every single song while he was playing besides all the pre-/ and reviews. Sad times. Maybe there's just not a lot of orgers living in Montreal?

^^ this but some orgers need to add negative comments in a positive thread because that's the norm on the org [Edited 5/25/15 3:34am]

. 'many' is subject to subjectivism. .
. As is the definition of 'perfect': . HITnRUN Tour Intro . As is maybe the term 'new'. How many 'new' songs do you discern? How many songs older than ten years do you discern? This was almost the exact 3rd setlist from the 4 shows in Louisville. The third show was my 100th Prince show since March 22nd 1980 when he opened for Rick James. This show in Louisville ranks in my top 5! Tried to make it to Montreal but just couldn't at the short notice. I don't visit this site often due to the bashing and ridicoulous comments that has turned this site into a soap opera. The April 9th show in Detroit was fantastic as well! The only wish I had was for Prince to announce 2 weeks before his shows so that I can get reasonable airfare. The price of the shows are fine. If by chance he reads these comments... just want to thank him for pulling my wife and myself up on stage for the 4th show in Louisville. If anyone on here wants to connect via Facebook, I am listed as Gary Jay Hirsch. "True freedom takes place in the spirit. Many will try 2 shackle that spirit, 4 many have none of their own."

Was there, great show! Was my 6th Prince concert, all the others occured in 2011 canadian tour. I kinda preferred the 2011 gigs because it was more funky, but this was a very enjoyable show. Also I was further from the stage which maybe made the experience not as good as my previous shows, having to check the screens to see his facial expressions and all. Really liked hearing some songs I haven't heard in 2011.
Thanks Mr. Prince! How about Quebec City for your next canadian city, we are having a new arena ready this September, and a GREAT summer festival on an outside place that can contain 100 000 people! [Edited 5/25/15 14:34pm] Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

Once again, it seems everyone who actually SAW the show(s) loved them.

I was listening to the Louisville show because I wanted to 'relive' the experience - the setlist is very similar to what he did in Montreal, but man, when you're there at the concert it's sooooo much better.
Even if you weren't at the show, you are entitled to an opinion - but some comments are just useless (he knows who he is).

Yeah I don't mind that he is more focused on the kind of show that will be fun for the people who paid to get in as opposed to people who want to read it about it on the internet. Of course it would be more interesting to read about on the internet if every show was different.
Even if he did, you'd be hearing "only 2/3 of the show was different, at least five of those songs were played on the previous night, how lazy, I am so offended he's not what he was in the 80s etc."

I'm not going 2 take the bait, but let me clarify something. I have seen these HitNRun shows: Detroit, both Toronto, and Montreal. Of the 4, in my opinion, Montreal was the best. I realize that when one looks at the setlist from Montreal it seems like there were very few "new trax," but if one looks at the setlists from the Detroit and Toronto 11pm shows, they were almost exclusively old trax from the 1980s. Trust me, I would prefer 2 see Prince play only new trax, but what happens when he plays long new sets is that the casual fans start scratching their heads. This happened at the Toronto 8pm show; I was thoroughly loving the long opening set of new material, but I would say 80% of the room was not. So, 4 the sake of "balance" 4 everyone in the room, that's why I indicated that the Montreal setlist was almost perfect. "purplelectricity whenever our bodies touch"

100% agree with you.
He actually played 6 songs from Purple Rain and 5 from Sign O The Times. How awesome is that? For real now. And he didn't play them all in 30 seconds like he did in 2011 during the sampler set. He played them each for 2-3 minutes, even more for Hot Thing which turned into a dance party on the stage. And the intro to Purple Rain was at the piano (Father's Song, no?). Really really nice.
After the show was announced a coworker told me she heard on the radio that he would play his hits, and I was like 'nah, he's very unpredictable, how could they know beforehand?'. But it turned out to be true. So it seems that he came to Mtl with a mandate to please the crowd. And he was awesome at doing that.

Have to agree that part was better than 2011. Very happy to hear more than 30 seconds of a song! Great show Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

I wrote, in detail, about that most amazing performance from a week ago in Montreal:

. He has been doing that since 1984 and 1987 respectively. So that was not awesome at all. . It was mr P showing that he is a has-been that is repeating his old successes without having the courage to move on. Don't start the 'casual fan' thing as they can move on too, look at what other more inspiring artists and their fans are doing. Them artists do not play 95% of old stuff. They might play their latest album.
