many questioned Prince's motives for quickly throwing together a lyrically mediocre song and putting together a "PEACE" rally but anyone who attended last night's show knows this was indeed a PRINCE move for self promotion.

The show sounded horrible with plenty of sound issues and it was clear there was no soundcheck, 3EG looked lost pretty much half the show. Did anyone catch him say where you at DETROIT? 30 minutes into the show? Then he realized his screw up and fix it 10 minutes later.

Prince failed to even introduce the Brown & Grey family, he simpled walked them to the front of the stage in darkness and threw his hand up , he probably didnt know their names.

His performance of "Baltimore" was lack luster and he failed to even introduce Eryn Allen.

There were merch tables full of PRINCE branded merchandise made just for this event both inside and outside the venue with his cartoon face, nothing with any type of motivation quote to leave with. How much of that money will go to Baltimore charities? most likely none.

Then there were the SEXUALLY charged parts:

"All the menfolk call me Prince, all the ladies call me Electric Man

'Cause when I plug in your socket, I do ya like nobody can!" - Prince during "The One" what man with a cause would perform such a tasteless line to sing during a "PEACE" rally with plenty of children in attendance?

"Where all the Nasty Girls at?" The pretend JW wants to get NASTY now at a PEACE rally?
Then Prince's bodyguard scowwed the audience for "hot" chicks to bring on stage for the last song who then disappeared to who knows where instead of bringing people from the pit on stage.

This was clearly a ploy for publicity and self promotion. I dont know what Prince's definition of superstar artists is but there were none on that stage. Miguel barely sang and couldnt hold a note. Why on earth Prince would allow a no name singer like Estelle to sing his biggest hit on stage to a city who hadnt seen him perform is decades ? pretty dumb decision.

Enough of this rant, truth is no one will care about the dinosaur next week.

Here we go... Ding ding ding, round 1.

Omg, this is outrageous. Glad we have RespectYourPrivacy around here to be thinking of the children. You're doing god's work, keep fighting the good fight.

My favourite part is this:
. Why on earth Prince would allow a no name singer like Estelle to sing his biggest hit on stage to a city who hadnt seen him perform in decades ?

The self promoting Prince, promotes someone else. Brilliant.

I haven't seen the livestream yet so I can't judge, but I'm two sided on this.

If this was a marketing ploy, it's really cheap and immoral to gain wealth off something like this. But my "Prince wouldn't do that" side is telling me even if he did do it for the cash he still would have given a massive chunk of a cheque to where ever is supporting the issue at hand. I saw a video on here someone posted of a person from Baltimore basically telling Prince to make sure that the money he raises gets into the hands of the children and young adults that need it which I thought was good. I hope he took note of that.

Another thing is that by releasing the song to a worldwide audience of fans is bringing light to the issue of police brutality in America. I mean, I don't fully understand it because I live in England but what goes on in America certainly does need dealing with. The worst thing I heard about the police force was in a VICE documentary about some police officer going undercover in a school, befriending an autisic kid and then asking him to get him weed. This kid obviously did get him the weed because he thought this officer was his friend and he was autistic. They then filed charges agaisnt this poor kid. They do it because if they arrest so many people it goes onto their quota and they get pay rises. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. It needs sorting.

my daughter wanted Beyonce, wasnt this a Jay Z co branded event? or maybe that star was too big for prince's stage to get a invite.

Maybe Beyonce thought that promoting herself at such an event would have been too much of a BEYONCE move for self promotion. She was thinking of the children, your daughter should admire her more for such selfless acts.

Here we go... Ding ding ding, round 1.

Someone is outraged by hearing a sexually explicit lyric from Prince? That's like being surprised when you see a seashell on the beach. Even on Rainbow Children he had some sexual lyrics (i.e. Mellow). So because someone is a JW but sings some sexually explicit lyrics they are fake? I hope you aren't a Christian because you are not supposed to judge someone else's morality that's up to God. King David slept with the wife of a good friend of his, got her pregnant and then murdered him to cover it up. Yet God still loved him and counted him a devote follower. Check yoself son!

Ding, ding, ding round 2!

The hate is strong in this one! Wow - it is SO wrong for an entertainer to make money at a concert he is headlining. At no time did anyone pretend that Prince was giving a FREE concert. The concert was a rally and more of something to take peoples minds off of negativity and mistreatment.

Too bad that failed miserably with those of your ilk who want to find negativity in everything.

I don't know how old your daughter is, but if you don't think she can take a couple of lines of innuendo, I'd hate for you to find out what she hears at school.

As for your other examples, 1. "electric man" - you're just trying to look for something salacious. That's milder than mild hot sauce. and 2. plug in the socket (which was the most obvious of the three); but again, if your daughter is old enough to know what he is referring to, she is hearing much worse at school.

The rally for peace seems to have been just that, as well as a good time for people needing some good feelings - too bad chronically negative people want to put a damper on that.

Bringing a kid to a Prince show then being horrified by the "sexually charged" content is like expressing shock and horror over snow in December in Minnesota. Yes, I know he's a pretend JW now but have you ever even listened to a Prince album? Lawd. eek

The Detroit slip up makes me giggle.

Prince is an old man and, imo, has never practiced what he preached but hopefully the concert gives some help to those that need it.

-

Personally, I'm disgusted over the michael brown inclusion in the song Baltimore but if Prince believes that version of events.... it's a free country. doh!

The kids askeed if we can have pizza for dinner tonight so we're going to surprise them with their favorite.

My recommendation is very easy. Just don't attend another Prince show, period. I attended the Detroit show and my expectations were low just because I know Prince is not the performer he once was. I loved the show with the lowered expectations. If I went in expecting to see him at his performance peak of the 91-93 era than I would have been deeply disappointed. He is an old man. For his age he is doing fine. Sorry you didn't like it. Just don't attend another. No big deal. Prince won't miss you and I really don't think anyone else will either.

This was clearly a ploy for publicity and self promotion. I dont know what Prince's definition of superstar artists is but there were none on that stage. Miguel barely sang and couldnt hold a note. Why on earth Prince would allow a no name singer like Estelle to sing his biggest hit on stage to a city who hadnt seen him perform in decades ? pretty dumb decision.

My favourite part is this:
. Why on earth Prince would allow a no name singer like Estelle to sing his biggest hit on stage to a city who hadnt seen him perform in decades ?

The self promoting Prince, promotes someone else. Brilliant.

my daughter wanted Beyonce, wasnt this a Jay Z co branded event? or maybe that star was too big for prince's stage to get a invite.

And you let her? My Beyonce sings about fellatio and stuff. Is there another? rolleyes talk to the hand
What?
