Prince rocks Paisley ParkPosted by: Jon Bream http://www.startribune.co...78111.html .
Two weeks after doing his own thing to celebrate Record Store Day at Paisley Park, Prince got topical again Saturday night at his studios in Chanhassen. In an invite posted on Twitter, he urged party-goers to wear gray to honor Freddie Gray, who died of injuries while in police custody in Baltimore. Earlier in the week, Prince’s publicist had distributed vague info about Prince recording a new – unnamed – song about the Gray incident. There was no release date but there was a graphic (below). .
Prince didn’t offer a preview of the song -- either a recording or a live version -- on Saturday but he did thank the 500 or so fans for wearing gray. With 3rdEyeGirl, he performed for nearly an hour, starting with the timely “Chaos and Disorder” and “Dreamer,” which featured some extended guitar fireworks and an endorsement from Prince about not having to fear the Chanhassen police. .
(Tell that to the woman from Philadelphia whose rental car was pulled over after the concert on the grounds that she was allegedly traveling 80 mph on Hwy 5, even though she had driven only from Audubon Rd to Powers Blvd., a stretch too short -- less than a half mile-- in which to accelerate to 80 mph. She didn’t get a ticket or much of an apology from an officer who identified himself as a Carver County sheriff.) .
In a set devoid of his own hits, Prince covered the Tommy James classic “Crimson and Clover” and did his own “Guitar,” which segued into the instrumental powerhouse “PlectrumElectrum.” He encored with an interpretation of the Waterboys’ “The Whole of the Moon,” which featured Prince playing some phat and funky bass over a drum loop and no other musicians participating. It was an intriguing performance on a night with a full moon. . Like he did at the Grammys, Prince made a short but pointed speech. At night’s end, he referenced Baltimore, talked about how we need to take care of one another and then declared, “It doesn’t matter the color – we’re all family. You’re family, my family.” . Then, with the drum loop still playing, he sang “Baltimore, Baltimore, Baltimore, peace forever more” and then asked the crowd to sing along. . Don’t know if that’s a line from his new song, a tip of his stocking cap to Baltimore’s Edgar Allan Poe or just a smart ad lib.

Prince using his music and vision to give voice to innocent victims is just excellent!! Our World needs a voice that can bring attention to all the injustices taking place and once again bring All people together. Love4OneAnother. There's an extrodinary number of people of color treated unfairly, and many challenges we all face. The report says Freddie 'had eye contact' with the police officer. There's been beatings for even doing less. Seems like a perfect time for Prince to give voice on this critical issue. It's time for all good people to come 2gether and raise the consciousness of our World under a Funky New Groove by Prince If anyone can do it, Prince can 2Gether 4Ever

https://www.facebook.com/...59983890:0 . ...."After a few moments of groovy funk bass playing, he stepped to the microphone and sang to the crowd: "U pictured a rainbow, but Eye held it in my hands. U had flashes, but Eye saw the whole plan…” What followed was an unexpected and improvised version of the Waterboys hit, “The Whole of The Moon”. Following a lively call and response period with the crowd, at Prince's behest a young woman walked to the front of the stage and began singing her heart out. That woman was Detroit-born, Chicago-based Eryn Allen Kane, a singer who was invited to Paisley Park to record vocals on the new song “Baltimore.” Contrary to reports that it was completed last week, Prince is taking time with the song to make it very special. Fittingly, the live set ended with Prince inviting the audience into a communal chant of “Baltimore… Peace 4 ever more.” . https://www.facebook.com/erynallenkane https://twitter.com/ErynAllenKane .

Prince shares soundboard recording of Paisley Park concert — listenThe Purple One invited fans to his home for a Dance Rally 4 Peaceby Alex Young
on May 13, 2015, 4:12am
.
A couple weeks back, Prince invited fans to Paisley Park, his home/studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota, for a concert dubbed Dance Rally 4 Peace. Fans were alerted of the surprise concert via social media, and were encouraged to wear the color gray in honor of Freddie Gray, the Baltimore man who was allegedly killed while in police custody. Now, Prince has shared a full soundboard recording of the concert, which you can stream below. The setlist saw Prince and 3rdEyeGirl perform “Chaos & Disorder”, “Dreamer”, “Crimson & Clover”, and “Guitar”. The encore included “PLECTRUMELECTRUM” and a cover of The Waterboys’ “The Whole of the Moon” featuring Prince playing bass. .

P posts the link so why no direct link to that stuff? He wants us to have it, he even edited it for that purpose. . Nice show.

. FWIW: It has a setlist and other info. It also mentions: On 12 May, 2015, the Prince3EG Soundcloud account offered an edited version of this show (as well as a portion of the pre-show DJ set) to stream. The 41:34 file (titled "Prince and 3rdEyeGirl - Dance Rally 4 Peace (Live from Paisley Park - May 2, 2015)" contains the tracks When Doves Cry / Now / Funknroll (Art Official Age version) and Peace, all from the Dudley D. DJ set, before the live versions of Chaos And Disorder / Dreamer / Guitar / Plectrumelectrum / The Whole Of The Moon (edited version). Crimson And Clover was omitted. . So it is not a full (complete) recording. It was edited.
