Glad I didn't make the trip from Dallas for this. I am thinking that Prince is not the driving force behind these shows. It's nice for folks who live in or close to Minneapolis, though, and it was fun to go inside Paisley Park for the first one.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Please give us the report! Also, post it in the PMM forum, because hardly anyone looks at threads in the Concerts forum unless he's on tour. Case in point - nobody seems to have registered the hint that Nik West gave that she may be playing with Prince the summer (thus, Ida may be out, or that Ida is gonna do 3EG so P is getting a different band together to play his separate stuff). It was buried in a thread over here and hardly anyone saw it.
Could Nik just be a guest act performing at P's concerts, rather than replacing Ida?

Not to get off topic, but I love Nik West's look and stage presence. I remember a couple of threads posted here by some orgers. A thread an orger posted of her singing Prince's 'Let's Work'. She almost sounded like him. If she does somehow tour with him or 3rdeyegirl, I think she'll bring some flavor and personality to the band.

Don't mean to take the thread off topic, but yes, you made a thread of her in Dec 2012

and the other orger did a thread of Nik in April 2013, with the youtube vid above of her playing 'Let's Work' at mark 1:10 in the video. She does a good impression of Prince's falsetto. She seems better as a front person bass player, moreso than a backup bass player that just stands there though.

Honestly! I'm not really that impressed. Besides her being a female playing bass. She doesn't really stand out as far as her playing goes to me. But she did a good job, like U said of singing "Let's Work. She also has a good look and personality. But Eye prefer Ida's playing (who has a similar look to hers) over hers.. Prince made the right choose. I also prefer Meshell Ndegeocello playing over both of them. She tore "Let's Work UP!!!!!

Now that would have been something if Meshell Ndegeocello

had been part of 3rd Eye Girl.

That's cool. That's why we're individuals...different strokes for different folks. I also see no similarity in looks/appearance between Ida and Nik. They both have different looks/guitar-playing styles they can call their own.

Excellent review. Sounds like Solomon must have been awful.

This message was just posted on the PPAD Facebook page:

So, I know the consensus is that many of you were expecting P to be there last Saturday. Please understand that we have no control over 'if' and or 'when' he may or may not show up. It's our aim to put on a great show for you regardless. I can say with all certainty that the main reason for PPAD is for you the fans and supporters of local music to have a chance to experience Paisley Park and enjoy yourselves:) We all know that P is an extremely private person, and I can't reiterate enough just how special it is he has opened his studio to the public so that we can enjoy hearing different bands. We have some great things planned in the near future, so stay tuned because "You never know what might happen!"

I'm not going back unless they announce that some reputable band will be performing.

Musicians have to start somewhere and Paisley Park is the perfect place to perform and be inspired to be great, I'd like to see what talents all of you with so much to say have, seems like your only talents are logging onto social networking sites and critizing. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Best indicator if he's going to play is to watch the 3 girls on twitter if they are silent all week like recently they aren't in town so don't waste the time or money

Every show appeals to some and not so much to others. And the point's been made that people hear things differently all the time.

I really liked Solomon and his band the most out of all of the bands I've seen so far at ADPP. His musicians were amazing to hear and watch, each held their own. Three guitarists, two keyboards, excellent dummer, Solomon vocals were great at times harmonizing with his female backup.

The crowd is a diverse group and lots, me included hoped to see Prince. I'd much rather hear these bands at Paisley Park for $30.00 than go to any bar with a lower cover rate. I mean Prince might play, you're in his house, a privilege in itself, the atmosphere is peace, love and funk. The people working there are all sweet, kind and professional, and Prince might play. There's always been something to love everytime Ur there. I'm not always able to make it but I sure do appreciate it when I can. Paisley Park is a great showcase for new, diverse bands. The entertainment, food and dancing, funky people, smiling faces everywhere. Prince is bringing parties back to Paisley Park headbang I'm Happy biggrin I do understand about those who have a distance to travel. It will be nice when Prince knows he plans to play and puts out an advanced notice like a couple of days ahead of time.

I agree yet if it was only $20 or even $17 to make it P number approved it would be more mass friendly, I counted only 49 people last saturday which is most likely y P didn't come out and play eventhough the rumor was he wanted 2...Don't get me wrong I'll keep on going rain or shine pay with no play, because for me it's worth the chance he actually might again play and I live close enough that it isn't a nuisance to get there, but for most common mpls folk it just ain't gonna happen unless they make the price more affordable and there's actually hope that he will occasionally hit the stage.
