KIRAN SHARMA- get yo ass outta bed & sort security / organisation out!

I hope you are reading this & the comments in the other thread. Sorry to call you out on this but as P's apparent manager you need to get this sorted...hearing of crowd surges is not funny - it's a bloody disater waiting to happen. The negative PR & of course potential injuries, general bad feeling etc will be so bad; so come on- get out of bed, stop tweeting & do something productive- as we say i the North 'earn your crust' !!!

Christ I wish I was in charge of this tour!

She might be his manager but he is Prince. He has been doing this for years if u look at the majority of after shows. Agree it needs to be sorted but I don't Prince has organised any firm dates or venues hence we are in this position.

This is what happens when you don't plan gigs correctly with organised ticket sales instead of this nonsensical first come first in method we've seen!

Things need to change and quickly otherwise this "tour" could turn into a disaster!

Great idea for a thread. C'mon, P & Co, organise the next gig properly. Sounds like these ones bordered on dangerous for quite a few.

Well who ever is responsible they need to take it damned seriously. This si far more important than fans being screwed over for bad seats/ expensive seats - peopel have actually got hurt!. Ultimately the press / UK Media will lay the blame firmly at P's door step, simple as that.

And yet another negative thread started by funkyhead! Do you do anything else? Were you even there? I'm guessing not - in which case, you have fuck all to complain about.

You're a bunch of whinging pussies! This is rock'n'roll - and whether it be a massive gig, a sports event or anything else that is extremely popular, then this sort of very human behaviour rises to the surface. It is each man for himself and that is how it has always been. Some people are gentle, others will go for what they want without any thought for anyone else. How you deal with it is up to you. But complaining over the internet about something that you didn't even experience is just....well, weird!

For the record, it is not Prince's or hi managements responsibility to sort out securrity and crowd control. It is the venue's, pure and simple. If they take on the job, they are taking on the responsibility for all that - Prince and his management team, rightly, won't and don't think about it. So, if you really want to complain, write to the Electric Ballroom - although, given that you weren't there, I don't think they'll take a blind bit of notice!

To be fair, the injuries were caused by the dickheads who pushed in and surged forwards. Something tells me, even if tickets had been sold online, those same dickheads would have wanted to surge and push forward to get to the front. Dickheads will be dickheads wink

I am not sure if Prince wants to appeal to the masses anymore because if I was his manager :_

.

1. I would be booking him onto Graham Norton or Jonathan Ross show at primetime to play something from the new album

2. Booking some 2,000 people venues so more people can see him

3. Book him onto Radio One with Zane Low similar to what they done with Kanye West & Jay Z

.

I JUST DONT THINK HE IS THAT BOTHERED !

Tend to agree with the above comment as those 2 shows are watched by a large cross section ok uk society and probably majority never seen him perform live on any show

Completely agree. Listen there are lemmings everywhere, just ignore them. There is a right and a wrong way to do things. P and crew have been here for a few days and basically fucked up the media dates, the tour and a lot of fans expectations. Great way to PR a new cd.

P seems to like a bit of drama around his tours..seems to go with the territory although o2 gigs ran really, really well. I'm sure Mindflux is a decent enough person [most people on here are lovely when u actually meet them!]..we all just get a bit carried away behind our keyboards!! Just want P & his team to take note & get their shit together!

Well, I'm certainly not a queue-jumper myself - at the same time, I've thrown a few out of a queue myself. You ain't standing in front of me, go join somewhere else.

BUT, this is how it goes, at any major event. I'm all for a safe experience, but when you have masses of people and a herd mentality, things are bound to kick off. Haven't you ever been to a huge, open-air gig? I've been to hundreds - Glastonbury 16 times (played there 4 times myself), dozens of other festivals, Prince and MJ at Wembley Stadium - every single one had people shoving in the crowd, crowd surges (especially at Wembley Stadium), it's just the way it is. But trying to couch it in health and safety terms is a bit obtuse and unnecessary. As Bill Hicks once said, "Do we really want government-sanctioned rock and roll?! Fuck that!" - indeed!

Prince and MJ at Wembley Stadium

I saw Prince, MJ and Madonna from the pitch at Wembley stadium, along with all the pushing, shoving and surging. None of those experiences was as bad as that which I experienced outside the Electric Ballroom. At Wembley, the surges were something that happened once or twice and then there was some space. On Wednesday night, each surge was followed by being crushed andn it was very unpleasant.

Understood. And I wish that part had been a more pleasant experience for you.

All I'm saying is, we know this happens, everywhere, all the time - whenever large crowds of people are involved and especially when a popular event is happening. There are times when crowds are so big (and excited) that it wouldn't matter how many security were there, you can't control that. What's happening with the Prince shows currently is more like the mass hysteria of the 60s when the Beatles would play or something (though the mob mentality has existed way before any of that, of course). It doesn't necessarily make it right, but music in particular stirs great emotions in people and an exclusive gig by a megastar is always going attract attention from gentle folk and those who just don't give a fuck.

BTW, nice to know that we've shared some of the same gigs wink

I hear you totally regarding the issue of big crowds. The thing is, this wasn't a big crowd in relation to a Wembley gig and the whole situation could have been controlled with more barriers to make the queue more organised and more security people. I saw just one guy, he wandered up and down the queue periodically during the game and then that same guy was at the front as I got in. That seemed to be about it and it was woefully inadequate.

Unortunately, I've found that to be the case at virtually every venue in London that are the sort of size of EB, some even bigger. I should know, I've played and been to most of them. Anyway, hope you had a great time at the gig itself.

I'd have to ask how many times you've been or played there when there had been a queue forming and growing constantly for 7 or more hours? There are guys where I work who go there regularly and they've said they can hardly remember a time when they had to queue, let alone wait for hours to get in. Prince is hardly the stature of an act that would normally play there!

Did have a great time at the gig though, it was awesome smile

She's no fool ......

Kiran Sharma is Owner and Managing Director of KIKIT Entertainment, a leading artist management company that also handles events organising and celebrity bookings. She is also the manager of global icon and superstar, Prince.

Through KIKIT and her work with Prince and other artists, Kiran has fast established herself as a respected entrepreneur, manager and an important voice in the music industry. Working closely with Prince and having him as a mentor has given Kiran a unique insight and exceptional knowledge into the music industry.

Since launching KIKIT in 2005, Kiran has cleverly steered her company through the recession and has established KIKIT as one of the industry’s most important resources for artist booking, working with stars like Bryan Ferry, AR Rahman, Sonu Niigaam and Annie Lennox.

At only 36, she is one of the few women to have achieved such a high level of success in this male-dominated industry.

Kiran was born in Luton and grew up in Norwich. Her parents emigrated from India and built a life from scratch for Kiran and her older sister. She studied Engineering and Business Systems & Technology and did a conversion year majoring in Business and Marketing.

Her first job was as third Assistant Director on the multi-million pound blockbuster, The Mummy, starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weiss, and she moved on to work for international companies like John Brown Publishing, Ogilvy and Mather, Hill & Knowlton, Delaney Lund Knox and Warren and Warner Bros.

In 2005 she decided to explore her entrepreneurial spirit, and combined her love of music with her skills in business and marketing to launch KIKIT.

In addition to Arms Around The Child, Kiran also works closely with Save the Children, Keep a Child Alive and ARK. With Prince she supports The American Ballet Theatre, The Uptown Dance Academy and Jeffery Canada’s Harlem Children’s Zone. She also sponsors Misty Copeland, the only black soloist in the American Ballet Theatre.

Fiercely proud of her British-Indian descent, Kiran credits much of her success to the support of her family, particularly her parents. However, Kiran’s honest and direct approach to business and her clients have cemented her position as an important figure in the music industry today.

Is that straight from her company website, probably written by her...
