fair play...all seems to have run really well..maybe due to lower turnout + bigger venue?. Nice one Kiran....now if we can just sort out a pre-sale of tix!.

cheers Udo, Mindflux is cool [a rock n roller at heart!] I have tweeted her a few times too just to hammer home the point as well as the O2 SB Empire!. Everyone who was anywhere near me knew it was going to happen, it was blatantly obvious.

However, very glad to see that things were much improved last night. Good progress, now we just need ticketed gigs smile.

I guess that Kiran for mr Prince has a slightly different role than for her other clients.

That was why I am interested in the scope of her work for mr Prince.

Wow. There's a recipe for disappointment.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Guys Kiran might have the title "manager" but she's really just a glorified personal assistant with no real music artist management experience. She's just another cute chick Prince keeps in his stable of cute chicks. He's controlling everything and making the decisions, trust me.

She's no fool .....

Kiran Sharma is Owner and Managing Director of KIKIT Entertainment, a leading artist management company that also handles events organising and celebrity bookings. She is also the manager of global icon and superstar, Prince.

Through KIKIT and her work with Prince and other artists, Kiran has fast established herself as a respected entrepreneur, manager and an important voice in the music industry. Working closely with Prince and having him as a mentor has given Kiran a unique insight and exceptional knowledge into the music industry.

Since launching KIKIT in 2005, Kiran has cleverly steered her company through the recession and has established KIKIT as one of the industry’s most important resources for artist booking, working with stars like Bryan Ferry, AR Rahman, Sonu Niigaam and Annie Lennox.

At only 36, she is one of the few women to have achieved such a high level of success in this male-dominated industry.

Kiran was born in Luton and grew up in Norwich. Her parents emigrated from India and built a life from scratch for Kiran and her older sister. She studied Engineering and Business Systems & Technology and did a conversion year majoring in Business and Marketing.

Her first job was as third Assistant Director on the multi-million pound blockbuster, The Mummy, starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weiss, and she moved on to work for international companies like John Brown Publishing, Ogilvy and Mather, Hill & Knowlton, Delaney Lund Knox and Warren and Warner Bros.

In 2005 she decided to explore her entrepreneurial spirit, and combined her love of music with her skills in business and marketing to launch KIKIT.

In addition to Arms Around The Child, Kiran also works closely with Save the Children, Keep a Child Alive and ARK. With Prince she supports The American Ballet Theatre, The Uptown Dance Academy and Jeffery Canada’s Harlem Children’s Zone. She also sponsors Misty Copeland, the only black soloist in the American Ballet Theatre.

Fiercely proud of her British-Indian descent, Kiran credits much of her success to the support of her family, particularly her parents. However, Kiran’s honest and direct approach to business and her clients have cemented her position as an important figure in the music industry today.

I think she IS kind of a glorified assistant, and that above ^^ doesn't really disprove it. It doesn't say much really. It doesn't have a lot of actual experience in music management listed there, except for things she's done for/with Prince. Again, HE's mentoring HER. He seems to enjoy taking nobodies (who may have potential, or are just good-looking) and being a teacher to them and helping their careers.
Alan Leeds said in that panel interview with Toure, that Prince used to have the best in the business around him, all of them "name recognition" in the business, but lately except for a few musicians he uses, they are all unknowns. It seems Leeds thinks it might have to do with costs - his "people" are not paid for and supplied for by WB anymore - and he said Prince is a fast learner and knows enough about the business to handle a lot on his own.
I think it's cost like Leeds said, plus he enjoys mentoring people that he takes a shine to.

I am not sure if Prince wants to appeal to the masses anymore because if I was his manager :_

.

1. I would be booking him onto Graham Norton or Jonathan Ross show at primetime to play something from the new album

2. Booking some 2,000 people venues so more people can see him

3. Book him onto Radio One with Zane Low similar to what they done with Kanye West & Jay Z

.

I JUST DONT THINK HE IS THAT BOTHERED !

The best thing he can do is the exact opposite of ANYTHING that Kanye West & Jay Z do!

The concert was fab and the organisation was spot on with security etc. I'd say Kiran got it sorted after the first gigs - good to know she is listening to the fans and making changes. Oh and by the way someone tweeted it was cold and can we have some hot chocolate and 30 minutes later we got it. Things are improving in the purple world!

All I'm saying is, we know this happens, everywhere, all the time - whenever large crowds of people are involved and especially when a popular event is happening. There are times when crowds are so big (and excited) that it wouldn't matter how many security were there, you can't control that. What's happening with the Prince shows currently is more like the mass hysteria of the 60s when the Beatles would play or something (though the mob mentality has existed way before any of that, of course). It doesn't necessarily make it right, but music in particular stirs great emotions in people and an exclusive gig by a megastar is always going attract attention from gentle folk and those who just don't give a fuck.

This is BS. European festivals have been improving on security and safety for decades, to the point where I'm baffled by the insane regulations. Can't help but notice how the UK remains a land of cowboys when it comes to festivals and gigs, where the organizers are mainly concerned with raking in money and less with health & safety.

I am sorry to continue this thread but this woman is getting on my t$ts

She deletes all comments that challenge the Hit & Run shows and doesnt answer any awkward questions.

All she is interesting in is tweeting people in the industry and trying to get get famous people to attend the gigs.

Its embarrassing.

No concerns for the fans at all.

Really? I thought she was bad at first but now im thinking she is pretty genius, shes got Prince on everyones lips and all over the papers/twitter. I couldnt think of any other way to do this when the majority of the public have probabaly thought wheres prince been since his last hit record. shes done well IMO. Given everyone a chance of getting tickets, if you want them you have to queue and one ticket per person, if there were tickets we'd all be moaning that the touts have them all, they have avoided this by doing as they have knowing that if people want to be there they will, havent heard many stories of people not getting in (apart from maybe last night) he seems to have been playing to the demand and put on enough shows each night

Is she a 'manager', P.R. person or P.A.?

Those are different positions.

People were commenting on what she gets done for the fans that queue.

And I was asking whether the allegiaons were true to base the added value on that.

Because it is the fans that are the basis for both their careers.

Her back ground is in PR, a manager is responsible for managing how their client is promoted/bookings if that means her doing the PR herself I dont see anything wrong with that? However as you say more should be done with the queue wether it be them paying the venues more to provide security, or they could have hired their own team for the time they were here.

I saw her with Kate Moss yesterday night, Purple Army my arse! She loved the celeb-shoulder-rubbing. Doing PR for Prince has got to be the easy job ever. Everyone wants to see him...and the press are covering his every move regardless.

This woman is a non-event.

This is an interesting tidbit of info.

If indeed she is PR and less of an (internal) production manager type (see e.g. Alan Leeds) that explains a lot.

So who would handle those things for the current hits and run stuff?

I don't understand what the problem is. They pay a price for every venue which includes their security, mgmt etc etc. She doesn't hire the security firm. So why are we ranting at her?

She does come across like an arrogant cow though as all she does is respond to celeb friends. A tweet here and there to fans would be nice and accept negative comments. Not delete them.
