Saw Bon Jovi there last summer as part of the "British Summer Time" festival and Madonna the year before....sounds wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but we were stood half a world away, you couldn't get anywhere near the front! We did have plenty of room to dance though and the crowd were fairly friendly.

It would have to be a show packed full of hits to keep a crowd that large entertained for that long...he got it spot on at Hop Farm though, so its possible

It said "Prince will perform two dates in Hyde Park this Summer. Details to follow"

It doesnt mention biggest gig or hint at Glasto...

Saw Rolling Stones there last summer and the sound was brilliant. Much much better than the awful Bon Jovi concert I saw a few years back.

Sound for the Stones gig last summer was excellent.

Hopefully the same for Prince.

I would love for him to do any large shows with actual advance tickets, as it is a real chance for everyone to get to see him then. I have several friends who are curious about his live show, but would no way jump on a train to go queue up in weather just for a chance of seing him.

My only experince of Prince in a large, standing-only setting was Wembley Stadium in 1993. I'd prefer smaller shows over a field/stadium every time, but it was a great experience being part of such a huge audience. cool

If he does to Hyde Park, it could be quite a party!

Just posted this

Dates for the diary:

29/6 (the Sunday at Glastonbury)

4-5/7

13/7

Unless I can get some Glasto tickets in the resale period I will try for both Hyde Park shows (or all of them haha) biggrin

Now tweeting "dates for the diary"

29th June (Glasto Sunday)

4th, 5th, 13th July

No mention of Prince in those tweets from @jacadimus but I guess that's what he is hinting.

His twitter bio says he is "Management" at OneBitMusic. Is that significant in any way?

File this under rumours until any official announcement which could take days, weeks, or a month or two! lol

tweeter is now back tracking "please note I NEVER stated these dates had anything to do with Prince, therefore any conclusions drawn are derived from others."

maybe he was scolded for saying anything, the thing is he totally eluded to these dates being connected with Prince, there is absolutely no other conclusion...

All his tweets were regarding Prince and then the dates tweet was among them now he has changed his tune...naughty boy me thinks trying to have the exclusive...maybe you wont be trusted with info in future!

I'd take what this guy says with a pinch of salt anyway. He was after all tweeting the 2PM slot for tix last wednesday. It seems like he is in the mix though.

I think there may have been an element of truth in the 2pm for tickets to get people down and generate interest early, if someone not 'linked' to them speculates to get people down and queuing early if people go it doesnt look too bad on Prince and his team when they are told its at 7pm but also gets them a nice big queue early doors Maybe he could have fingers in a pie somewhere. I dont think Hyde Park sounds too far fetched he could defo sell out at least one date because people will travel if its an only UK date, Plus if he does (I doubt it) play Glasto there will be plenty of interest in filling 2 dates.

...plus, presumably part of the British Summer Time series, so a decent line up of support acts across the various stages will bring in a fair number of the curious as well as the committed! However, given Prince is already committed to Essence for 4th July weekend suggests the 4th/5th would be unlikely?

I'd also be surprised if he played Glastonbury / Essence / Hyde Park - not impossible but logistically undesirable!

A Hyde Park gig to celebrate the 30th Anniversiary of Purple Rain

.

Now that would be one hell of a strap line for the concert

.

I reckon he would sell 2 nights at Hyde Park easy

.

I think the crowd capacity for gigs there is around 40,000

.

I hope its the 13th July as I am in Miami for a few weeks before
