Ok...who on the Org hasn't done a show yet but is now itching to hit London?

Missed out on the EB shows last week, and missed out yesterday (early start at work today, and wouldn't have made last train home)....having read all the great reviews of the shows so far from fellow Orgers, I'm now dying to get to a show!

Was half tempted to head to the Shep Bush Empire tonight, but I've got plans this evening already.

Any fellow Orgers now planning to get to London this week or next by hook or by crook??

I'm absolutely all set to head up there around lunchtime & Q..........but there doesn't seem to be much news today??

A friend of mine who went last night said security were confident he would be playing tonight.......I notice that the SBE already has gigs booked for other artists from the 12th onwards so it seems like it could be tonight or 2mo........

Seeing as I've booked a half-day hol from work & already sorted my kids out, I may as well head up there anyway, only 20 mins on the high speed as I would kick myself if I missed out due to lack of news........I guess nothing ventured, nothing gained smile & can just head home again if I am the only person in the Q ha ha

Saw him at Apollo, Marquee club, Koko, O2, Indigo (first and last night after show), plus that random club in Wardour Street where we were in the VIP section and people were just wandering over ot chat to him, so i don't feel too hard done by smile

Yup.. It was a misnderstanding at the door - The staff thought that people with NPGMUSICCLUB membership were VIP and were just ushered in to the room..

I've not no chance of getting any time off work now I don't think for the rest of the month sad I have a weeks holiday booked for the first week of March so I'm clinging on to the hope he might do something that first week, very highly doubt it though. It's hard being a Prince fan sometimes,

I was in the VIP area too. We queued up outside a mayfair club first for ages then followed a local through backstreets when that place fell through - drinks were astronomically priced even 12 years ago and service came with 'extras'. Too long ago to remember names now so don't know if you were one of the 4/5 guys with me (remember a couple of dutch guys and a few local, I was a (then) student from Staffs.... did you have a bootlegger / radio conversation / girls conversation?

Great memories.

er

I am getting excited, but I probably won't do it. London is not far if you live in Holland, but I don't know my way around and there's no way of knowing when and where he'll show up. And if I spend all my time just hanging around and sightseeing, that would make for an expensive trip. But I'm not gonna join the club of naysayers who go all fit

I'm sure there would be plenty of folks here on the Org who would show you around if you weren't sure where you were going...again, alot easier to organise and arrange if it was ticketed shows, but the hit 'n' run nature of the shows makes that a little trickier.

Any word from the venue? I read earlier that everything had been packed up and taken away last night. If that's the case then presumably no gig there tonight & he's moving on to another venue later in the week.

I drove down to London yesterday from Ipswich. I got inked at 866 last night and was glad i made the effort - drove to shenfield, train to stratford, tube in to Shephards Bush - 2 hrs 20 mins door to queue.

I took a risk, went, and certainly saw Prince conquer!

If you can, do make it........if last night is now going to be the norm, it is an amazing experience.

Good luck if you do..........I certainly will think about gate crashing a few more even if it does mean i wont get home till 1.15-1.30am! wink

No word, the small box office window says closed until 12/2 4pm as there is something going on then.... Only came as the staff last night were confident that he would play tonight (said a friend who went last night) even tho I heard about the packing gear part too, thought I'd take a chance..... Some guy here says rumoured Hammersmith Apollo but not sure of his source.....

...judging by the way things have gone thus far it looks like Prince or his peeps make an announcement around 12pm to 2pm for a gig that evening. If there's no official word by about 4pm I think its safe to say there will be no show that evening. They announced it yesterday at midday and there were still only 1,400 in the queue for a 2,000 venue. Unless he's playing somewhere really small I don't think he could get away with just an hour or twos notice.

I think that's right, if there's been no official word from the band or their management by 4pm seems little point in travelling up if you are outside London. Given the way it's gone so far I am guessing there will be more sleight of hand to prevent crowds getting out of hand - if we all think we can get in based on last night's events, and pile up there as soon as there is an announcement, then chances are there will be a massive crush! Certainly wasted my time hanging round London last Thursday night looking for him on the basis of pure rumour (though bizarrely it was a lot of fun, and a night out at Ronnie Scott's was pretty cool). Can't see any formal word yet as to a gig tonight, but if the kit was taken away from SBE the form seems to be go somewhere else, set up and do a sound-check one night and gig the next, maybe with a day off for some ping-pong in between. My guess would be next gig, new venue, tomorrow or Weds.....
