Knowing that there were a number of people hurt last night, you do wonder if it was actually negligent of Prince's management not to have better security and controls in place. They seem to be fond in flinging lawsuits about, maybe its time to lob one back! biggrin

Between his management and the venue, someone should have been able to sort something out. There really is no excuse.

I think i should rename this post i set up! Maybe to WTF was Prince's Manager thinking?

Its so sad to hear of people hurt by this thoughtless stampeed. The amount of people jumping in the Que was crazy. as i said i went from about 500th in the que to about 1500th probably. Wasted alot petrol, and parking costs along with freezing my bits off, all thanks to rude thoughtless people who felt it ok to ruin what could have been an amazing opportunity for many people. If i didnt have work so early today i would have stayed for the 2nd show but the so called rude security had no idea on how long the wait would be. my days of staying up till 6am to see Prince have long gone, sorry Prince. You need to remember your old fans and the ones who have stuck by you are now older and have families etc. maybe employ a manager who gets this and gets you are one of the biggest entertainers in history and gets you would fill a whole block with fans in a split second and alow for this. Good luck with the next Kieran Fiasco. who knows might be tickets!! Ok Rant over and lets hope for the rest of us we get to see him this tour eek

I bet the local council will be checking into this, I'm sure the Electric Ballroom will not want to risk their license and be associated with these problems, I'm guessing it's the venues responsibility for crowd safety/security, especially on a public highway qeuing outside. I'm not trying to take the blame from Prince/management, he has allot to answer over the fiasco and how the gigs have been arranged, pretty much excluding fans who cannot drop everything ar short notice or live outside London.

Having read the reports, I can't say i'm not too disappointed I probably won't be able to make these gigs as I am in Manchester, this is the first 'tour' I will not attend in the UK since my first Parade gigs in 86.

Well, twice I posted onto Electric Ballroom's Facebook page about the fiasco happening outside after getting texts from my brother in the queue and guess what, they deleted them.

Firstly, brilliant opening gig at the Electric Ballroom. Prince is focused, energised and on utterly blistering form. He is performing at genius levels of artistry, charisma and showmanship. There is arguably no better time in the past 7-10 years to see Prince than now, particularly for dedicated fans.

However, the queue jumping in the line is a major problem. It should be a democratic system where the most dedicated are rewarded. However, we spent over 6 hours waiting on the street in the rain and only just managed to gain entrance to the gig due to the excess of queue jumpers. And we were told by security earlier that we would definitely be getting in as there were roughly 400 people ahead of us. This easily swelled to double that number and increased rapidly as the gig approached.

To top it all off there was then a massive surge and crush just after the doors opened. Some people who had waited all day simply left because it was too much.

I'm aware that this behaviour is not Prince's nor his managements, fault or responsibility. However, a better, more organised system will need to be introduced if a sense of fairness and goodwill is to be maintained. Although we met some nice people, overall the queue yesterday was a stressful, sometimes agressive, threatening experience that I would not be keen to repeat.

Tony didn't get home until 6 this morning! He ended up walking to Waterloo after the gig (no trains, too late), and bought cookies and crisps and other assorted munchies and sat on the floor with two homeless people stuffing their faces until the first train left Waterloo!

Tony is a legend!! biggrin He must have been out on his feet when he got back in. Very sweet that he kept a couple of unfortunately souls company though.

On a side note, my mate got back from hospital, he's got a fracture in his ankle after it kicked off in the queue and he was shoved over. Its only 'cos he is such a big Prince fan that he's not taking it further!

Sorry to hear what happened to your mate. None of what happened in the queue last night should have happened. A combination of some selfish ignorant people and bad organisational "skills" (there were none).

I think it would be the venues responsibility to arrange for security needed and crowd control, not Prince's management.

No matter how many security guys that get hired for any shows, anything unexpected can happen any time at any concert/event.

When I've put on tours/gigs in the past its the promoter with the artist and venue that decide ticketing policy (usually promotor left to sort it and arrange ticketing) the venue is responsibile for onsite security/safety as it is part of their operating license, artist provides personal security if required.

The better organised the gig, the less chance of anything unexpected happening, that's what the organisers are there to ensure.

I wasn't there in person last night, so I'm not going to wade in too much...but someone needed to take control.....the venue, the artist's management, a combo of both. It wouldn't have been hard to organise and in this day and age we should be beyond taking our safety into our own hands when we go to see an artist (though I guess you can't always account for every a*sehole in the crowd)

I would think that with the news of Prince coming to London to perform in small clubs for a low ticket price, that maybe your police department in that area, probably hearing of the lines going around the block, crowd pushing, line jumping and fans getting hurt, will now get involved to help with crowd control and monitor the situation to avoid fans getting hurt, while standing in line. Hopefully that situation doesn't spoil fans' excitement and enjoyment of Prince coming to London to perform, if the venues prepare for his visit to their club properly and hire more security, to avoid any further problems/injuries.

There's been no sign of her for a while and it seems Kiran has taken over management again. I read a few years back that Kiran and Prince had a fling and thats why Kiran initially stopped managing. I wouldnt be at all surprised if Julia got caught up too.

Julia walked - she got fed up with the chaos - everything else is 100% accurate.

If anyone thinks that Kiran cares about the fans because she formerly was one is clearly deluded - all she cares about is her image and getting Dappy and Liz Jones into gigs.

Well, thank God. Her presence was embarrassing. She was an awful little brat to the security people at the Myth shows. She went out and got her friends into the VIP line and took out a huge camera and took pictures of her friends. When a security person told her (very politely) "Hey no cameras at tonight's show" she responded hissily "I WORK for him." I'm sure the guy had no clue a freaking 22 year old was Prince's manager.

Good riddance.

Absolutely agree. And don't get me started on that cowbell twat that could as well be selling t-shirts @ the merchandise stall or handing out wristbands to the girls he fancy. I wonder if the bottom line is to keep him busy while Prince and his wife "study the Bible" together, lol ...

Well, all I have to say is, his pimping, the constant parade of whores in and out of the Park & the harlot spirit that abides within him, are truly, truly, truly disgusting, vile & revolting. ill

*

Btw, neither of his wives studied the Bible with him. PLEASE! That's laughable! They're all whores (including Prince).

I'd have to agree that Prince is a whore. To sleep with every woman you hire is a bit embarrassing. It's hard to take the guy seriously if he has no self control. confused

Are you sure it wasn't Madison Dube? The young girl photographer from Minnesota? What did she look like?

It wouldn't surprise me either way. When you hire kids their age shows eventually in their temperments with things like this. Ever since 3rd eye girl started, Prince has switched out all of his adult entourage for children entourage. Kind of strange, really.

lol There's no formerly. She's still gushing about him like a groupie should. Just look at her twitter feed. She spends so much time on her twitter talking about Prince, you'd wonder how she got anything done.

I thought it may be true about the affair considering how she speaks of Prince. It gets obvious after a while and I can't recall her ever seeming to be buddy buddy with Bria Valente when she was around. I recall some "Bria alias's" on the org also hating Kiran. lol That gives a cue. wink

I'm afraid I can't help as I was way back in the queue around two corners so I missed the whole thing, but I wish you the best of luck. I don't know who would be held to be legally responsible but there was definitely a failure of management somewhere and I hope you get to the bottom of it.

Well they obvious couldn't give a flying F about fan safety, they are just interested in getting PR for themselves.

Well, looks like the security team at Shepherd's Bush are keeping things organized, thanks to the orger in post #18 for posting about it on that thread. Hopefully that will prevent any injuries from linejumpers and fans from letting their 20 friends in front of other fans who were out there waiting longer, and maybe now we can read reports from some happy fans later who attended the show.

Security was much better at Shepherds bush. A guy on the end of the line keeping count for a start. Although lots of people were still let in line by friends.

8 hours? I spent about 30 minutes queuing on the street and still got in. The advertised price of £70 definitely thinned the crowd.

Security in general, was better organised than Camden (I queued in there for over 6 hours and was one of those caught in the ensuing crush) with staff numbering peoples hands in the queue.

With the nearly 3 hour performance Prince gave last night for just a tenner, I don't think he'll be getting into 'shit' with anybody - people were more than rewarded for their wait.

It was the best gig I've ever seen by any artist.

Good for you. Some people did queue for 7-8 hours though.

Of course it was great gig, not sure anyone was questioning that. I have only ever seen one bad Prince gig. And that was newpowersoul in Brixton. And your missing the point entirely.

There were no 'fan safety issues' at Shepherd's Bush last night.

Some people did indeed queue for 8 hours, but others entered the venue after 8pm without difficulties.

So precisely what is the point that I am missing entirely?
