He will sell out in london no doubt about it but the point being for example i need to give a weeks notice minimum for time off, and if someone else is off i cannot be off too, and this is the same for most people but there are 1000's around great britain who will have been waiting for him to come back to the UK, why only focus on London with next to no notice at all? Based on the fact he will still sell out it seems a little lazy in my opinion, probably not on Prince's behalf, as it is his management who will arrage the shows, who are well... Based in London! They could have sold out some places such as The HMV Ritz Manchester and done a gig in every city over the same amount of time, which if your promoting an album makes alot more sense and generates more publicity, who knows, maybe his label have told him he needs to do 'X' amount of shows int he UK to promote it in his contract and they have just been lazy about it and done London to comply?
The average person to go to london, you would have ticket prices which wont be cheap, train fare which at short notice is usually more than double because you miss out on the advance purchase, then Midweek hotels in london are no less than £130. you could go on holiday for the same amount if not less all inclusive.
I think i will be hanging on for soem European dates probably be cheaper to fly somewhere than go London
"it seems a little lazy in my opinion, probably not on Prince's behalf, as it is his management who will arrage the shows" You are the one who is too lazy to go to London and see him. It's not a regular tour. If you haven't noticed, he doesn't do regular tours and good for him! Once again, you sound like you are entitled to see Prince in your town. Has he ever played Manchester before? I wouldn't hold my breath. Live in a major city if you want to see top notch entertainment. I live in NYC and he hasn't done a real Prince show there in years so I got my ass up to Ct to see him in December. It was awesome and easily worth the trip. Either travel a bit or don't see him. I never realized there were so many winers over there in The UK!
I'm also fed up with all the whinning. I'm from the UK and am really exciting that Prince will be here. Can't wait for the announcement tonight and will do whatever I have to, to get to a concert. so, what is the answer 2 the question of U |

Just remember ,Folks .not all of us are actually lazy.I have m/s and it would be very difficult/maybe too much so) for me to attend London to see the greatest musician ever.If he was too play Scotland I may have abreal chance.I'm utterly Heart broken I won't get to see hanna ford(what a bird???) or be able to get into some funky hero worship.I bought ever release since the 1980,s and even thought it might not be Prince fault I am devastated and utterly heartbroken.I'm not gonna talk any more this hurts.I remember Prince at Celtic park early nineties before the symbol days.Just a shamemmy year is ruined. |

I don't think you get it. For a start, Manchester IS a major city.. it's the most 'major' city in the north of England and has the second biggest music scene behind London. The Phones4U Arena (Formerly the MEN Arena) is the largest arena of it's type in Europe and there are countless other venues throughout the city of various shapes and sizes.
More importantly, it's hardly 'lazy' to not be able to get to London for a Prince show on short notice. People have kids and work commitments, or maybe just can't afford the £100+ ticket price (probably), the £100+ short-notice return trains, £150+ short-notice hotels plus the money you'll spend on food/drinks while in London. Not being able to do that doesn't make you lazy.
Prince always used to play in Manchester on his tours, it's a standard stop off for most artists, but he hasn't since 2002 I believe. He rarely plays the UK at all. He hasn't done a proper show here in 7 years, and again, they were London only. It'd be fine if he played here regularly, so fans elsewhere in the country could miss a show safe in the knowledge they'd just see him next time, but it's quite probable there won't be a next time. In another 7 years time he'll be 62. Sure, he'll still be able to perform, but up to the scratch of his past performances? Unlikely. He's lucky he can still do it at 55.
Obviously, he can do what he wants.. but it definitely sucks for the fans elsewhere in the UK who have no hope of making it to London for these shows. |

When will people realise that Prince doesn't book these shows personally - he goes where promoters PAY him to go.
The reason he's played Manchester in the past is because a promoter has put on a show there as they've seen demand and calculated that they can make a profit by setting up a gig.
If you want Prince to play in your local city, town, village or pub - lobby promoters, show them there's demand and there's profit there and they'll consider booking him. Yes it really is that simple. |

That's the attitude that I would have if I were over there. If you HAVE to see Prince (which is understandable) just make it happen. Or just stay home. It really is your choice. But all of this whining and complaining is a bit much. |

Sure, Prince might not book the shows himself, but he knows where he wants to go. Promoters aren't dragging him over to London against his will, he decided he was gonna come and play. If Prince decides he wants to do a UK Tour, then his people will liase with promoters and book a UK Tour. If he decides he wants to do "a few shows in London" then that's what will happen. |

Right so its lazy not wanting to spend the best part or 2 weeks pay on going to London? Do you actually understand what the prices is london are like? I guess not, Highly inflated on the rest of the UK, if you class that as lazy your pretty ignorant to what the actual cost is, to put it simplier your probably looking at 800-900 Dollars upwards to get to london for the night see the show, eat and drink. not to mention a 3 hour train journey there and back, and using up 2 days of your annual leave.
And manchester is a Major city, as far as the music scene goes it is one of the biggest things it is known for. And ofcourse he has played in manchester before, plenty of times, 1990, 1992, 1995 (2 dates), 2002 (2 dates) However in 2002 I was 14, and all i was into then was 2pac and Biggie like alot of other teenagers [Edited 2/3/14 11:25am] |

The only way he'll play Old Trafford is if he's in Midfield, Can't be any worse than Cleverly, and a combo of Fellaini and Prince in central midfield would be class, little and large Affro. [Edited 2/3/14 11:29am] |

It is that simple, but these shows in london i wouldnt say there is a big promoter involved, if it is smaller venues like suggested, there wouldnt be enough money in it for them to do put the gigs on, pay prince, his band, airline fee's etc...Not to mention the venue hire costs in london. Its purely promotion I'd say to get some headlines over here ready for the new album to drop, arranged in London because it is simple to do and his management will have links to the venues as they are based there. There is plenty of demand, maybe smaller venues than a football ground, but somewhere like Manchester Central or the Apollo would be perfect, even The HMV Ritz, if his managemet really wanted him to go outside London it could all be sorted in less than a week. He'd need very little promotion because his name would sell itself and the media would big it up. [Edited 2/3/14 11:37am] |

Prince should play Old Trafford. All my Dreams in the Theatre of Dreams
The way that Moyes has transformed United this season is a Dream come true!
Well, they could put Hannah at left back, she's got better pace. . |

With respect, "what is England anyway? Some rinky dink country the size of Wisconsin where the cops don't even carry guns?" Get your ass over to London if you wanna see him. Bitching about a 2 and half hour journey is obscene.
Well, a 2 1/2 hour train or 4 hour drive is a hell of a long way to us Brits.. we rarely travel that far for anything.. but it's less the time/distance, and more the £400ish we'd have to spend to see a show in London.
