ok I have now listened to the supposedly good late show on this date .. and I can confirm that prince did in fact play the piano version of purple rain with bobby z .. which is just about the most lame ass thing prince could possibly do .. no donna does not fill in the guitar parts .. purple rain just got its nuts chopped off .. wouldn't it have been nice for bobby z to play on the real version .. why does prince do a guitar tour and then remove guitar from this song .. its just plain stupid .. prince solos are decent on this set but the overall set list and performance by his less than adequate band remain pathetically underwhelming .. i am happy for those who think prince "rawks" but seriously .. he does not .. the negative reviews are warrented and once again .. prince idea of a guitar tour is excellent but his execution of such a theme is laughable .. it actually upsets me that prince would insult bobby z in this way when he should have let bobby play on a traditional outing of purple rain .. ps .. even heart attacked bobby is a better drummer than hannah .. strange but true

eye no people confirmed PR .. but one person said donna played guitar on it .. if she did I didn't hear any PR guitar solo .. she didn't .. the new piano only PR sucks .. it is not something "new" ... it is something WORSE .. glad u all enjoyed it .. there is no amount of "being there" that can make up for butchering ICNTTPOYM or including such garbage as Screwdriver, Endorphine, Guitar, Evenflo, Cause and Effect, the horrid diarhea of the sampler set, or the butchering of Purple Rain with no guitar solo ... all instead of playing his true guitar great songs like Calhoune Square, Whats My Name (Ida would kill it), PUrple Rain, Computer Blue, Fury, Gett Off .. etc .. on the flipside .. I Really loved "so far so pleased" .. I hope it makes its way into the set the way "the one/shhh" and "cool" have lately

Again, concerts don't live or die based only on the audio. It's only a partial experience. Again, did you go to any shows on this tour? Or are you really going to attempt a legit critique based on a bootleg?

Example: Purple Rain tour was amazing, but most of the audio bootlegs don't do the show justice and the show sounds less than stellar.

Her name was Willow, and she used to always be with Prince at the Paisley Park parties (92-95). During Stratus in the second show, at the end, he called out her name and said "I know you see me". After the song ended I saw his security come out into the crowd and find her and brought her backstage. It was during the break between Stratus and Purple Rain. Too funny!

Hi, just reading your post. Is it possible that Prince was allowing BobbyZ to have the front and center spotlight on this tune. If Prince was playing guitar everyone would have focused on that and him. By moving to the side to play piano, BobbyZ was the center.
