i look at it like this: dudes i work for are attorneys and charge anywhere from $125 per hour on up. prince is billing us at around the low hourly rate for an associate attorney. 2 hours @289 is not a bad deal. biggrin

XxAxX said:^ see you there! got mine and yeah, no way to avoid the $30 "handling fee" if you go to the myth link and click on the buiy tix banner it just takes you to etix.com, which charges the fee. i guess if you show up at the box office in person you avoid the handling feestill glad i'm going though....cool Actually the extra $30 is being called an "admission" fee. Probably extra money for Myth. They probably figure if you'll pay $259 then you'll pay $289. But that price is ridiculous. I may go, but I hope one show gets cancelled so we'll get a longer show. And i bet thats exactly what will happen.

admission fee. okay. well, it's just greasing the wheels and whatever makes the tour bus come our way is okay by me. see? i'd probably pay even more. prince may not tour forever, and imo it's worth it to see a living legend do what he does best.

i just hope sound issues don't occur. when prince took the stage @dakota for the dance party, the volume was so high it blew my eardrums. all i could hear was a high pitched whistle. it was really scary.... eek lesson learned: never forget earplugs

Yeah, not paying it. If prices drop I'll go but $259 is ridiculous. And I hate the Myth. Bleh.

Yep, agreed. It made sense for Dakota but not here.

Anybody know if it is all general admission, or do they have balcony seating? I see some other shows there have balcony seating.

It's all general admission but there is a balcony. You can be one of those folks that sits in line all day to get a spot up front or on a rail. I believe there are couches and the like but once the show starts I'm sure they're useless for sightlines.

I wonder where the handicapped seating is located? I got my sister and myself tix for the early show.

With regard to the prices, yeah they are quite high, but to me they are worth it for a small venue show. This will be my fourth Prince concert; the previous three were also held at smaller venues. I have no clue what wheelchair seating is like at big arenas (never been to any arena concerts but I'm open to going some day), but with Prince I am a bit greedy and prefer to have a clear view of the whole stage (or as much of it as possible). Watching a whole Prince concert on a jumbotron is a very unappealing proposition to me. Any other artist/group, sure...but P? No way! shake

Why not just play the big room at PP? I personally don't think he will sell enough tickets at $289 to fill it even one time much less two. It's a huge room.

I think he will play PP Fielder. I'm pretty sure there's a 3rd eye girl mural going on as we speak.

Here's to hoping that due to "production reasons" (ahem) he combines both shows into one longer set, or better yet, moves the whole gig to Paisley Park.

+10000000 The Joint in Vegas has a similar capacity, and I was up in the back row of the balcony. It wasn't bad since I had a good sight line, paid less than $100 for the ticket AND had a reserved seat. But $289 to possibly end up far from the stage and/or unable to see (I'm short) under SRO conditions? No thank you, I'm too old for that! lol

I had a feeling that he wouldn't sell out, and it looks to be right.

The Myth is a great sounding club. However, they used to also be known to oversell the place. I was at a show a few years back, and there wasn't a single point in the night where I could even consider getting a good view of the stage.

The diehards in MPLS payed big bucks to see him at the Dakota in January.

For a place as big as the Myth, I'm not going to pay that kind of money for the real possiblity of not getting that "intimate vibe" or even seeing much of the show.

If the tickets get discounted, I'll consider it, of course. It is Prince, after all.

But, for those prices, I expect a show at Paisley Park or even First Avenue. Not the Myth.

If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.

quite a little money maker this tour - with rough estimations

34 shows (being conservative with amounts) so lets say on average

750 tickets for each show sold at

$250 full price

$ 6,375,00 and with only 3 band members to pay instead of 20

not bad for a month's work

It is a nice haul for a few weeks on the road. People on this board are always making P out to be an idiot about his money but he keeps raking it in without having to spend a whole lot which is the cornerstone of Capitalism.

So does anybody know for a fact how this tour was booked? Was P getting a flat fee? Or was it some sort of door split deal?

One thing's for sure, at least the tour promotion expenses were low (read: nonexistent)! razz

Why is it that when Prince talks about getting paid everyone rolls their eyes but then the fans constantly speculate on what he's making off of every venture?

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Maybe something will happen at Paisley Park during the month of June (you know, the month that, in years past, he "hasn't celebrated" his birthday). smile

I've overextended my Prince Fund for the year already so I guess unless they release $100 tix the day of the show for charity I'm out... neutral

Would b nice to see him at least one more time though, I have to work that day but the late show would be late enough razz

We shall wait and see what happens as they say if it's meant to be...

I'll be very surprised if they sell out 3,000 tix/show at $289 a pop. I expect to see giveaways (like they are doing for Denver) and markdowns.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was moved to another location or canceled. Hometown crowd doesn't like the high ticket prices.

I saw Lenny Kravitz at the State Theater last year and that would be the perfect place for these shows... I think it holds about 1500 and it's a beautiful theater...

For people traveling to MPLS for this (it's a holiday weekend), I hope if these options present themselves, P goes with change of venue rather than cancellation.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if tickets for this are moving very slowly, given the price, the size of the venue (Myth issued a statement on its FB page suggesting this was an intimate show--with 3000 people LMAO), and the overall poor reviews people seem to have of the venue.

October of 2009. Not that I'm keeping track or anything. lol

I'm going to keep an eye on this. It's my birthday weekend, so I might decide to treat myself. But I think this is one I can decide at the last minute. (I can't imagine it's going to sell out - especially on a holiday weekend.)
