Without the sampler set, I wouldn't hav gotten a funked-out version of Hot Thing, with P on bass, last night. So I'm happy to have it stay. And it's perfect for a second encore.

what about chaos and disorder on the setlist??

He didn't play Chaos and Disorder

Even God's Word The Bible uses the phrase : ”[To] waste seed on the ground"
[Edited 4/20/13 10:13am]
Originally, the term masterpiece referred to a piece of work produced by an apprentice or journeyman aspiring to become a master craftsman in the old European guild system.
His fitness to qualify for guild membership was judged partially by the Masterpie

The more reviews and setlists I read, the more I wish I was able to attend these concerts ... but alas, my school and work schedule (not to mention my finances) won't allow me to travel across the country. If he comes to the midwest, I might have to make some sacrifices and find the funds. This is what I've been wanting Prince to do for soooooo long.

I'm excited for everyone who is seeing this tour.

Yep... Hence the whole "type phase" is appropriate.

Kind of like Lenny during his "hendrix type phase" as well.

You seemed to be better at agreeing to disagree a few days ago..

Maybe i find it a bit strange that Prince used to actually deny even being into Hendrix back in the 80s..

Everytime a guitar was mentioned he talked about Santana and now he's looking like a Hendrix tribute artist..

Its Funny to me... You have a problem with that? lol

Wow, wow, WOW! That was the Prince concert of my DREAMS! As you can see from the photos, it was almost as if Jimi Hendrix had come back to life, LOL! This show was so stripped down and intimate, with just guitar, bass and drums on most songs. I felt like I was watching Prince jam at home with his garage band, rather than a huge, slick, stage production. I've been to the big shows with the horn section and synthsizers, so this was a welcome change. I felt so much more connected to him, as a person and musician. It didn't hurt that I was about 10 feet away, and right in front of his face. That alone made the price of the show worth it to me. I've been to 5 shows, and have never been so close. I could see him so clearly, from the stage lights shining through his hazel eyes, sweat dripping from his brow, and the fact that he had on a lot of makeup, hee hee. (Then I didn't feel so bad for wearing so much myself.) wink

Some song highlights were the incredibly laid back, slow version of Let's Go Crazy. It was HOT!! Also, hearing Endophinmachine was such a treat, because The Gold Experience was the first album I ever bought with my own money, when I was 13. On cassette tape. LOL! That being said, I was bummed that he didn't do Dolphin at the late show, because that is my all time favorite Prince song. Maybe audio or video will surface at some point... I also really enjoyed the new songs, and can't wait for the new album! Purple Rain was beautiful, and different. He played piano instead of guitar, and gave a nice little speech afterward. I couldn't understand every word, because of the reverb on the mic, but he said something along the lines of "It doesn't matter what you believe. Don't worry about what I believe, I'm the happiest I've ever been." I thought it was kind of cool that he said something about his personal beliefs, no matter if we agree with them or not.

I wasn't bothered by the sampler set, because as I said before, the rest of the show was pretty rockin', so it was kind of cool to hear some of his other stuff. Also, he sang live over the backing tracks, so it wasn't like he clicked play and had us stand there listening to the recording, LOL! That would have been lame. It was so cool to hear him play bass too! He made some very intense eye contact with the woman next to me while he played a solo, which was pretty exciting! (Though, I was a wee bit jealous, hee hee.) He show ended after that. He didn't play anything more after the house lights came up.

Alex, I agree, this was amazing, but the ONA show will always be the best in my mind. Maybe because it was my first Prince show, I don't know. But this was a truly unique Prince experience, worth every penny, and my aching feet. wink

Here's the only photo I got. They had a strict no photo policy, and I was close enough that Prince himself could probably see me take a photo, so I was too chicken to risk it. I snapped this really fast, right as he was leaving the stage after the first encore. I know it's not great, but it'll give you an idea of the excitement in that environment. I hope some professional photos turn up soon...

Hey, y'all! Long time no see! I'm currently waiting in line for the late show. I'm about 10th in line, so I'm hopeful that I'll get a good spot. The bar is full, so I won't get in on that early entry deal, but I won't be far behind those people. smile The front door is open, so I could hear the music as I walked past. I can't believe that this is really happening! More to come...
What show did u go too, early or late, and what time did u get in line?

I was at the 11:30 show, and I got in line a little before 9. Man, was I cold by the time we got inside, LOL!

I never said they were the band of gypsys. I just said this is the phase he's going thru "SORT OF" and he's very much LIKE Hendrix a lot whether he of anybody else cares to admit it or not. But hey, that's just MY opinion

He also could have dressed that way because he was in Seattle, and thought it would be fun to pay homage to our hometown rock hero. In any event, I was thrilled when they pulled back the curtain, and he stepped out in that amazing outfit!

I wish he would release soundboard recordings of these shows in full for those of us who can't make it, and for the general public to hear the awesomeness! Lucky for those who can make it, but I'm sure they too would like to hear the concerts again and relive the experience

Largely at a loss for words after the concerts at the Showbox, but want to say that they're putting the sampler to work for SERIOUSLY funky jams (Forever In My Life jam with P on bass? Holy!). Also, I think I have an old school crush on Donna.

The important thing to me isn't who picked up where Jimi left off..

It's Who did it 1st and who still is considered the Greatest after only having a 4 year Career.

Who is and always will be the Originator? Who had the same wah wah, distortion, and Modulation effects pedalsl like the ones Prince is Using today way back iin the 60s?

Who had many of these "Gadgets" that are today available in every music shop,

hand built to help him get the sounds that "only he was hearing" out of his head and

into the conciousness of people like Prince and the legions of afro and bellbotom wearing people playing wah wah guitar on funk records in the 70s? and all the Metal/Rock?Blues dudes.. And just about every other Guitarist since he died waaaaay back in 1970?..

Who still comes in at #1 in every poll 43 years after he passed away?

The Man!

As much as I love Jimmy's music, he was no where near as diverse as Prince. And imo, as far as the guitar skills go, Prince picked up where Jimmy left off guitar
