Yep I was there an I remember it. She way gone. She approached my date in the ladies room and told her how beautiful her hair was (the date got way spooked). Later during the wait between the soundcheck and the start of the show see got into a scuffle with security because she coudln`t get a seat down front or backstage. She said that she could because she was a member of Prince`s fan club. Furthermore she stated that her wrist band gave her total access. One ditsy bitch. My DC Direct wishlist: 1) Bane, 2) Prof Zoom, 3) Superman Blue, 4) Kilowag, 5) Parasite

The way I remember it is...
She approached the stage w/ her hand out (to shake his). Prince went toward her smiling, puts his hand out. Instead of shaking his hand, she pulled him down toward her & P kinda hopped on one leg, keeping his balance. She says, "I love you." P says, "I think you love that beer too." He was just looking @ her like her behavior caught him off guard. Could have been a nice exchange but she was drunk off her ass. He said, "Peace to you," & went to talk to some people backstage. She wandered away. That's all I saw, but I heard she was later given the boot b/c she was trippin' w/ security... Another reason to be glad they don't serve liquor @ Paisley If you wanna meet the dude so bad, why do it in an incoherent state?? I'd hate to have those eyes looking @ me like, "WHY??"

I had an unsettling experience at the show that night. Remember that big young woman with the short hair and the clipboard who was going up and down the line announcing the whole agenda for the Club Members before the soundcheck? I stopped her to get the run-down real quick and asked her name. She stepped back very sharply shook her head like she smelled something bad and said "Oh...no names!" The Club Member next to me who wanted to listen in as well even repeated her statement at me like it was something everyone should undertand. I just thought it was incredibly juvenile and unprofessional and discourteous to us, so I just shook it off and muttered "whatever" and proceeded to give her MY name and ask my questions. She was perfectly nice about answering my questions and I felt bad that our exchange started off so awkwardly.
Later I thought about it and realized how fear-based the whole thing was. The only reason you don't give your name in a situation like that is because you are afraid of something - reprisals or the Club Members calling you out on a newsgroup or whatever, but it's fear-based and any organization that would demand such behavior of it's staff can't be healthy for anyone involved - the crew nor the customers. The whole thing left a bad taste and I just felt sad about that. No names - that's just weird, I mean who do you think you are?

Hmm, this story sounds like it involved the same chick at the DC soundcheck. I wonder if it was the same person starting shit again (I'm not mentioning names because I know you all know who I'm referring to). RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I understand your point, but I think it's more of a nuisance thing. I do know for a fact that there are fans out there who will harass Prince's staff to the point of being a severe pain in the a**. And to spare themselves of the drama, it's standard operating procedure to just leave names out of it. They are there to do a job, not get into personal battles with obsessed crazies. And I'm not saying that is you, just saying that they have to be careful. I bet if that drunk girl mentioned above got ahold of this woman's name, she would have been all about "Well Nancy [whatever her name was] told me I could go backstage!!! You better let me backstage or Nancy will go tell Prince that the Aladdin is mistreating his members and he'll cancel the show!!!" I have seen it happen more than once.

That's the only logical reasoning I could come up with myself. It's still a fear-based issue and I would think Prince would 'teach' his staff love - not fear.

I hope you're just using the name Nancy as just an example of a name, since that is my name and I never told the drunk woman that she could go backstage. In fact I wasn't even at the Vegas show, but just stating my opinion. I kinda feel like I'm being put on the spot here, and I hope it is just a misunderstanding on my part.
