Update: PRINCE plan to hold a concert under the Eiffel Tower on July 14 has been rejected because it would clash http://www.news.com.au/en...6394993058
PRINCE plan to hold a concert under the Eiffel Tower on July 14 has been rejected because it would clash with Bastille Day celebrations. "There was a request from the producer of Prince in France to organize a concert on July 14," said an aide to Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe. "But our priority is the July 14 fireworks at the Eiffel Tower, which is not compatible with this project. "We are ready to study another concert date, discussions are under way." Prince, who regularly comes to France, had wanted to give a free concert on the French national day in partnership with a charity, and the show would reportedly have been filmed for release in 3-D cinemas. Prince's producer in France, Jackie Lombard, confirmed she had received a rejection letter from the Paris mayor stating that "two events such as a Prince concert and a July 14 fireworks show cannot coexist". Lombard said another date in September had been proposed to the city for a concert in association with a charity that fights HIV/AIDS. "In September, there are already two events scheduled on that subject, a George Michael concert and a concert for AIDS Solidarity. We could put a real spotlight on AIDS that month." The city of Paris had not yet replied to this proposal, she said. Bastille Day is held on July 14 each year in commemoration of the 1790 Fete de la Federation, a national celebratio which took place on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on July 14,1789.

Prince does not have a producer in France.
I believe one of the NPG tweeted that Prince had nothing to do with this. It was pie-in-the-sky from a promoter.
Not that I blame him for trying, but from what's been said by the NPG, PRINCE was never trying to arrange a concert in Paris.

Of course, Prince has a promoter in Paris since long long time. From 1986, it was Pascal Bernardin (and his son Alfred from 2009) and from last year (Le Stade de France), it's Jackie Lombard from Inter Concerts (ex-employe of Live Nation). The Paris Eiffel Tower concert was definitely a proposal deal to the Paris mayor early this year. They refused, only because the date wasn't match with French National date (July 14th) and that they wanted a "French" artist for this date. They also said that they are open for another date, whatever it is during the summer. This is the "real" story.

Prince lies all the time. It probably was true and his pride got all hurt.

He should just do it at the Paris Casino in Vegas, I'm sure they'd have no problem with that.

Exactly! And finally he decided to remove the post, so this means a lot...
