oh god, I hope to see one of these one day!

Remember that comment I made last weekend about having just had the best musical night of my life? That was NOTHING COMPARED 2 last night!!!!!!! We didn't get home until 6 am. The main show was better than last week, no sound problems and an incredible vibe from P and the NPG along with the (smaller) crowd. We could tell early on that Prince was in the mood for a party. Then we went to the af...tershow at Eatons Hill Hotel (great venue) where he played for over 2 hr. It was better than last aftershow and better than the main show earlier in the night. It had such a great atmosphere feeling like one big purple family. P and the band made it clear they were in for a party and the crowd responded. No other artist could keep a crowd that excited until nearly 5 am in the morning. The crowd forgot how tired they were and were clapping, dancing and singing to every word of every song. In between encores they were chanting like it was a football game. During the last song Prince asked for the house lights to come on. It incredible to see the crowd going off with that energy after having already danced for hours. Nobody cared that they could be seen clearly as they danced and sang and enjoyed every last second being in the room with Prince and the NPG. It was clear to everyone in the crowd and in the band as they finally left the stage that we'd just been part of something really special. Even long time fans like me were blown away by the man's talent and his ability to keep a crowd's excitement going all night. I heard someone on the way out saying excitedly "I didn't realise Prince was so BRILLIANT!" All of us supposedly "Prince experts" felt the same I think. Thankyou to Prince and the NPG, the a purple people in the audience and to my Lisa S Young for making it a night that I will remember forever!!!!!! O{+>

I've been to six aftershows now, across three decades, three countries and two continents. Every time I've left saying, wow that was great, that was amazing, that was brilliant, that was the best ever. But you know what, I have never in my life experienced anything like that show last night. The energy of the crowd was amazing, we just couldn't stop...and Prince was almost possessed...the energy he had after playing almost 3 hours at the main show was nothing short of a miracle.

You know when you leave a Prince concert you always think to yourself, I want more...well, not last night. He gave us it all and we all left knowing that if he gave us any more he would've done some real damage to us all.

I've heard hundreds of bootlegs of other aftershows...and the set list and energy of last night really was The One. Utterly, utterly amazing. The more I think about it and the more I reflect on it...I really have never heard him better.

If you ever get the chance to go to an aftershow....Go. Don't worry about lining up in the cold for hours (and it was cold, even in Brisbane!) You might, just might, get the chance to witness something even a tenth as good as last night, and it'll all be worth it, trust me.

I just wish there had been tickets. This one would've gone in a gold frame, it would've been worth a fortune!

Without hesitation - One of the best nights of my life last night. Front row of the aftershow - an aftershow that even his band members are labelling "historic" etc. Have had 1 hr sleep, played my own gig this morning, and am still on Cloud 9 from last night. Epic. Prince is a freak of nature, that's the only way one can put it.

I am very happy for you Aussies. You are really getting some amazing shows. However, I am confused as to why Prince can't seem to do aftershows in the U.S. anymore. I went to the NJ/NYC leg in 2010-11 and the only aftershows were for invited guests only with the exception of the Feb. 7th aftershow at the Darby (which was fantastic from what attendees reported), but I was back in Chicago by then. I just don't understand why we don't get this kind of treat. But I am looking forward to the boots from this show. Can't wait to hear Mutiny.

I think I have to stop reading these because I'm dying a little bit inside at not going...fuuuuuuucccckkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!

I was loving her set, so many good tunes ones I knew and a lot I didn't. She kept the party going and got everyone hyped and ready for P. I will defenitely be going to see her on Friday in Melbourne.

I've been a fan for 30 yr but isolated so much by living in Australia. Knowing him on record and online is one thing. Truly understanding how great he is live is another. I knew what he was capable of in theory but I hadn't ever seen him at his best, with a great crowd in a small venue before. I feel like I understand the expression "tear the roof off this place" now. It felt like his talent was too much for the venue and almost too much for his fans to cope with. Mind blowing makes more sense now too. Wow!

Other highlight was a full length jazzy version of Paisley Park with just kick drum and keys with Prince's voice. Other songs in no particular order... Oh no - I am so depressed today - having read all the reviews. I went to both Brizzy shows - and the Sat night one was fantastic. We then heard at the concert about the after show - but had no idea where Eatons was - or how to get there. The BEC staff were not good explaining where it might be - and with no Brisbane Refedex in the car (or GPS) we had no idea how to get there. My friend and I are both from Gold Coast so not familiar with Brissy at all.

But I do wish I had made more of an effort - found a servo or something to ask - I am so mad at myself today.

I trully am.

I wish I had found out about the aftershow before leaving home, then I would have been more organised.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing eh?

But I know I shoudl be glad to have seen two very different Prince concerts as many never even get to see one...............but I am still crying buckets !!!!!

just curious..who said it was historic?

sounds like a good gig......cant believe it was two thirds emoty.should have come to brisbane after all!

Out of all the annoying comments on this crap thread the bolded annoys me the most. Someone who didn't even know how great Prince is got to experience it. Geez, I've only been aware of it for about 30 years.

...sorry just needed one last little whinge...now I'm done.

... and sydney got the shitty ivy gig that only 3 fans could get into. Well that's just the jealously talking. This show sounded amazing... although could totally live without the girls but I guess it gives P a chance to catch his breath considering he played for, what, 6 hours that night!

Totally agree - Haven't seen Pailsey Park on any setlist for a very long time. Be good to know if it was a snippet or full song (which would have been amazing)? Anyone?

Full song! every verse, extended ending with crowd participation.

Just drumbeat (only kick drum I think), Andy McKee on acoustic guitar, may have been a tiny bit of keys, can't remember, but Prince sang the whole song in a very jazzy tone and the crowd sang every line with him. I've never heard it live, and it was startlingly good.

I keep trying to tell myself that I have no regrets. I got to see two concerts, but gee, I don't think I'm convincing myself very well.
