this whole tour was surreal

this might be a worn out way to say this but, i am so grateful to prince for touring australia again, it was long overdue. i can't believe it all happened so quickly and it's over yet the buzz is still happening for me. like i got recharged, when i was a newbie it was all just fantasy, all i had were my cds and i wanted to know as much as i could. yet now the music and the show have shown me a totally new dimension to the prince fan experience. now i just absorb each of his live performances, and it strikes me how much effort he puts in, like you can hear it in his voice, when he moves, etc. i am even more mesmerized, and prince has become now to me an absolute enigma, i can't believe he is one of us, just another human being someone who performs, but really in a mind blowing way. he really fucked with me through my head during this tour, i am so high from it all. never thought it would only get better like it has. daym!

just minor spelling edit

I totally understand what you're saying. I have never considered myself a hardcore fan, just fan who had more albums than the average person (approx 16). I lost my way with Prince after Emancipation where albums just never seemed to pop up onto the radar as frequently as they had in the past, so my interest to a degree fell away. I never thought I would ever get the opportunity to see him in the flesh. But with the anticipation of the upcoming tour I pulled all my CDs out and listened to all of them again and basically haven't stopped. I feel bad having neglected his music for so long as I have missed so much. I am now actively looking to fill the gaps in my collection.

The tour itself was just plan crazy, I really didn't get a lot of sleep the past couple of weeks, I'm glad I managed to get time of work to rest a little, I really needed it. Trying to follow what was happening with aftershows and the concerts in the different cities has been all consuming with twitter and this place along with various facebook sites. Theres a side of me that is happy it's all over but I would have loved to seen just one more show.

I never managed to meet anyone from the org but I met some great people at the concerts and the aftershow who were all passionate Prince fans so it was great to mix with people who were like minded. It has been a definite highlight, and for me a period I am sure never to forget quickly.

I agree with the frenetic pace of the tour. It's testimony to the aura, reputation and magic Prince carries. So may arrangements, so may days off work, so much travel and money spent...but you know what...all completely worth it. The memories and experiences will remain forever as a special time for all who were a part of this.

Great post.

This tour has renewed my love for Prince. I had lost some of it over the last 10yrs or so. Its good to reminded about just how good the little f*cker is. Its also been fun to see the tour through the eyes of people who've never seen him live before and gain some additional vicarious joy that way. Glad you loved it....lets hope he comes back in a hurry.

I keep telling myself this everytime I look at my bank balance....

Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

Whenever I open my wallet and the little moth flies out, I think to myself "oh yeah...Prince just toured"....and the memories come flooding back.

i totally agree with you KingFD. i to lost my way after Emancipation.

but still, it was a no brainer to make sure i got to both brisbane concerts (purple reserve then purple circle) and was lucky enough to experience both aftershows. my sister and i were depressed all week after coming off such a high of almost a 6 hour prince party from that 2nd concert plus aftershow. we're ready to follow him where ever he decides to tour again. it's also got us obsessed with funk music from just about everyone from the 70's era.

Eatons Hill After Show = THE highlight from the Welcome 2 Australia Tour
