Yes I agree. I wasn't just refering to this thread but but also comments made by some on the realted Facebook pages. It just seemed like every time I read I sat down to view these pages someone had something negative to get off their chest. Maybe I was over reacting but that's how it felt at the time. I'm just so thankful that he is in the country that the negative comments seemed so petty and disrespectful.

I wonder what is more negative...the actual negative comments, or the negativity about the negative comments?

Sometimes it is difficult to tell the difference, as those complaining about the complainers are bitching about it more than the bitchers. Is bitchers a word?

On a slightly more serious note, it is sometimes funny to figure out the difference between negativity and criticism. If Tony M is on stage with a Star Trek Next Generation Uniform rapping with Prince, it is hard to find something positive to say.

If it is Prince playing a mostly hits Musicology tour show, but with him singing all the lyrics, and keeping cover songs to a minimum, than somebody bitching about hits is being negative in my opinion.

If somebody is praising Shelby for her vocal talent, I agree for the most part. If somebody is praising her for her shouting and crowd hype act, I call that Blind Praise and Loyalty for anything Prince does.

Prince's 2010-2012 shows are much better than the 2007 London shows, but seem so inconsistent to me. So I would say I am one of the "bitchers."

To some, that makes me negative, but to me, it makes me honest. There is a difference, but so many on this site seem to either be a 100% Prince Ass Kisser, or a 100% Prince "hater."

Despite my criticism, I wish I had enough money to go see these shows. Since I don't...it probably magnifies the weaknesses in his current tour, when I go to 6 shows, and all 6 are under 120 min. Oh, sorry. I am bitching again.

Anotherloverholenyohead, Shh, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Scandalous, DMSR, Pop Life, Extraordinary, Purple Rain, Guitar, Cool, Let's Work....

those songs were awesome nearly every time he played them. The stupid white flag routine during Purple Rain was a little weird and annoying, but he still played the old song with some passion. He could've waived $77 in the air to symbolize the money he took from his fans for the Lotus Flow3r website for all I care. The song sounded great.

Careful, you're joining me in complaining about those complaining about complaining.

What is the deal with the white flag? It was on my side of the stage and I didn't know it's meaning.

After I thought about my initial post I realised that I was contributing to the negative tone in a sense. That wasn't my intention and I'm sorry for that. To each his own.

BTW....the tweets coming from tonight's Sydney show sound like the audience and P are having a great time. Can't wait for the Brissie show on Saturday.

People are always going to have their own opinion, good or bad. I just thank God that I'm in the group that actually enjoys his new music and always have a great time at his concerts. I would hate to not enjoy myself or walk away from any concert dissappointed. My experience with the Welcome 2 America tours have been great! cool

Well I loved it & enjoyed the whole concert. Prince is a true performer & it's true, he might never tour Aus again... Although I don't know why?

Wow, looks like he had a great time in Sydney. 4 Encores & an extra hour than Brisbanes (I guess he didn't have an aftershow to get to). Maybe he'll do a longer show with more encores on the 26th... Which in a way is a bit disheartening because not everyone can afford to go to both shows (and would expect all Brisbane shows to be equal) but hey, I'm not bitching... Just saying razz

If the audience was as lifeless as some people made them out to be that may have led to him cutting it 'short'. He's stated that he plays to the crowd. If that crowd seems disinterested from jump then why not get it over with and head to the aftershow where the crowds are off the hook hyped up 100% of the time? Two hours plus is still a good length of time playing to people who don't even get out of their seats.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I can't imaging having an aftershow meant he left early. there was another gig on at HiFi that evening, so it was always going to be late before they could even get in. I saw the backing signer arrive around 1:30am. the doors didn't even open until after 1am, and Price wasn't on stage until around 2:15/2:20am

Was the Brisbane audience a bit quiet? Yes...a lot stayed in their seats. I think a lot went for the spectacle rather than because they were fans, so they didn't know a few of the songs including the opening Jam of the Year. People were clapping, but they were sitting down...like I said earlier, a guy just behind me had a box of popcorn, so he's not gonna be jumping up and down!

I saw a post on a newspaper article which said the person posting was a regular rock concert goer for 25 years and was disappointed that he only recognised Purple Rain and Kiss, and the rest were all obscure tracks. You know, obscure ones like 1999, Let’s Go Crazy, When Doves Cry, Take Me With U, Raspberry Beret, Sign O’ the Times, etc. When people don’t know those tracks, you can understand why they were maybe a bit more staid! But, yes, there were more than a few fans going crazy too.

As for the aftershow...this article has just been published on the Brisbane Courier Mail website...it explains that the price hike to $150 at the HiFi aftershow was Prince's management, not the venue!

CONFIDENTIAL can clear up a few issues arising from Prince's after party at The Hi-Fi on Friday night.

The Purple One put on an amazing gig at the West End venue just hours after closing his show at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

A few punters were unhappy when, after lining up for hours, they were informed the original $100 entry price had risen by $50. Some directed their anger towards The Hi-Fi but Confidential can confirm that it was Prince's management that was in charge of all the details, including ticket price.

To both their credits, we understand Hi-Fi management, who were only approached about holding the show at 5pm that day, convinced the Purple One's team to scrap the price hike.

Some punters who didn't get in were disappointed that the venue wasn't filled to capacity but the original intention was for a small, intimate show.

Hi-Fi staff and Prince's team faced a huge logistical challenge in clearing the venue from an earlier show that night and the consummate musician insisted on soundchecking each instrument personally. All teething issues aside, Prince put on a truly world-class show.

Prince plays the Brisbane Entertainment Centre again on Saturday night with tickets still available through Ticketek.
