Yeah I think that would have been better. Sorry to offend you. I guess I have to say Prince is God and he does nothing bad EVER on this site huh. Sorry to offend you but I thought it sucked. I have seen Prince 25 times now and this was the worst ever to me. Overall I have nothing but fond memories but wow he seems like just a hollow shell of his former self. I have to admit its has been 10 years since my last show so he has aged quite a bit I guess. I think thats the last time I see Prince unless he does an actual album tour again. This hits BS is stale to me. Its just not the same. Oh well, next up on my concert voyage is Jonny Lang, Buddy Guy, Victor Wooten and Penn and Teller. CAN'T WAIT!!

Did anyone else see the mysterious box that was wheeled in from backstage to the stage? The band walked in with security but is it possible Prince was in the big box on wheels so he wouldn't get mobbed? That is just weird. Anyone else see that? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

thanks for taking time out from listening to your boots to give us your opinion on the setlist......... so how was the show?

That's what will eventually happen to you if your only reference of a Prince show are your boots. Boots only deliver the setlist not the concert experience.
Glad that everyone who actually went to the concert enjoyed themselves.

I enjoyed both nights but Saturday night had a far more energetic, seemless feel to it. Setlist was superior Sat and Prince was in a far better mood without the hiccups of the sound and lighting isses that affected Fri night. Heard some great arrangements of rarely played songs over the 2 nights and now I just bought tix for the Tues 22nd show....then I'm off to Melbourne for the 30th show!

Wasn't there last night. Unfortunately back here in the UK. But I'm sure he was in the box. He has used this method of entry for years now when the stage is in the centre. Have seen reports of the twins riding on the box for previous tours.
Enjoy the rest of the tour all of you down there and keep posting updates. They're great!

Funkylust is on the money with his comments imo We got to see a nice polished performance on Sat, with a few rarities thrown in. Much better than Fri night also imo. Sound was 10 times better. And looks like he's been listening to Peach and Black guys He said he wants to play the Opera House. I think thats on the cards My password is what

How has nobody mentioned prince throwing his guitar out?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I knew someone would get anal about this. That album wasn't commerically released and widely available. Only some import stores had it on the shelves for a short time but most people bought it online off his website. Ala hard core Prince fans.. Do we really have to play this game? I get it you're a fan. I am too man, but fact is 99% of Australians have never seen that album. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Guys just because he didn't like the concert we don't have to attack him. From his opinion it sounds quite accurate andhe was probably disappointed too many played too death crowd pleasing hits were played than unreleased versions of She's always in my hair or Moonbeam Levels. Unfortunately the concerts have a lot of fairweather and casual fans too, and where as we would love an alternate mix of Love or $ or Pearls b4 the swine played, they won't get it. Okay so we are hearing Raspberry Beret and Kiss for the umpteemth time, but at least its live.
I mean I would love if he came out and sang witness for the prosecution or train and masturbate his guitar like he did on the Controversy tour in 1981, but I know that alternate mix of The Line is just not going to happen in these concerts. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Too true.... but it was a box with Prince inside. Couldn't they have just walked him out in the dark quickly between bodyguards? Or something. I don't know being in a box with wheels, well its just a little freaky

One funny moment from the show I just remembered: Prince at one point walked around the 'cirlce' and then motioned to all the people sitting on the floor there to come up closer to the stage - it started a mini riot! Security were trying to hold people back etc. Then Prince just keep walking around the stage all cocky like "Yep, that's what happens at a Prince party". Ok, so the Sampler set is really just a nice way of saying that Prince wastes a good 10-15 minutes of the show singing over pre-recorded backing tracks, right? For somebody who seems to bang out the "real music by real musicians" mantra on an endless basis, isn't this exactly the type of rubbish he criticizes? If I wanted to see somebody singing over a backing track, I'm sure I can get that at a Karaoke bar in Cabramatta. At a Prince concert, I want to hear Prince and his band singing and playing every note live.

Just wanted to say that I had an absolutely awesome time last night.
I really enjoyed Friday night and it had moments in it I'll never forget.
But last night felt like the best concert I have ever been to (which includes 8 Prince concerts).
Shhh was outstanding (particularly that guitar solo) and Purple Rain was phenomenal. Is that too much of a cliché? Don't care. The energy was peaking in the place and it was incredible. I have no idea whether or not that will translate to a recording, but then, that's one of the problems with boots.
DOW was brilliant and was in some ways all the more fun to get into because of the fact that no one around me knew it
btw, I was on the floor, with a purple reserve ticket. I was meant to be in the back row of one of the front sections, but they had moved those sections back, so I ended up in a single row along the side, so I was *just* behind Purple Circle. Win!
I would choose floor seats every time for the closeness, but appreciate that it's not the best view - it just comes down to personal preference, I think.
I believe that Prince is always best when he feels he has something to prove, and, with the guitar and sound problems of the night before, he was determined to show us that those issues were nothing but a glitch. His guitar was blazing last night, both at the main show and the aftershow.
You can analyse the set list, or criticise the inevitable boot, but nothing will take away from the experience of actually being there.
One of the best nights of my life.

gee dfunk i didn't know everyone on here must like every concert prince does. thanks 4 letting me know that once again, anyone who didn't like a performance is a meserable, negative, pessimistic, glass half empty kind of soul. maybe we should all be so brainwashed like u and can't offer their concert experience to the world.
i give dandeeland props 4 stating how he/she feels about their own concert experience. and the fact that dandeeland gave their honest opinion of the show and the song choices cause belive it or not, there are many fans that feel the same way about the constant songs being played over and over.
if u prefer 2 listen 2 the same things over and over goodie 4 u but it doesn't give u the right 2 call someone a miserable person. man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

total bullshit right there cause i never was at the lovesexy dortmund show in 88 but have the boot of the show and it blows me away and several other hundred shows as well. i've been 2 this W2A shows and only one show out of the four blew me away. man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
