Ok, hubby and I get there and we got to stand inside the foyer before they opened the doors to Rexall. There was a sign posted to the inside doors to the facility that stated that no cameras blah blah or you will get ejected blah blah blah. They opened the doors to the inside about roughly 7:15 p.m. Hubby had to use the washroom facilitites while I hit the merch table.

Picked up some guitar pics and concert programs that I got requests to pick up for some orgers. Got me a T-shirt cool - They were selling raspberry berets too giggle

Hubby gets a beer and I get my coke and off we go locating our seats. When we get there we find out from the person helping that our tix have to be exchanged eek eek So tix are exchanged and with our new location we go find that. Once there we sit down.

The show was fantastic. Shelby, and the girls were awesome. Andy Allo you could tell was a sweetheart and John Blackwell was banging on his drums!!! Maceo was great!!! He was last here with Prince during the ONA tour. Was nice to hear him again.

Prince.... well what can I say. funkyspectacular. He got the whole place getting their funk on.

At some point Prince tells folks to get their cell phones out. Which was wtf?? When prior to that part of the show there was security, and they had old men who are in their 60's showing folks where there seats are and then having to chase after people. I felt sorry for them having to go up flights of steps to stop folks from taking pics.

Prince got some folks to dance on the stage. One woman that got picked was dancing all over the stage. She was tall with high heels and Prince did not get too close neutral Looked like she was going to dance on the stage all night and never get off. Andy eventually took her back to the stairs and security helped the woman dancer off the stage.

While doing his bum moves/wiggles during singing Kiss. The camera was on his butt wiggling drool drool I was screaming and hubby just rolled his eyes lol Then when the camera was on the frontal view of his moves his shirt went up with the movement of his arms and I swear I saw his balls and a hard on eek lick giggle Well, the camera was pretty zoomed in enough to tell that part lolol.

Bye the end of the night I had no voice left!!

eek bow And how was the music LOL!!! Just kidding wink

Thanks for the review yaayyyy glad you had fun!

So where were you after yout tix got exchanged?

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

1/3 of the building did not leave. A few folks started to leave assuming the concert was over when Prince said his good nite to the crowd. Folks were boooing when the purple piano was being removed after they left the stage. Everyone stood their ground wanting more. Lights did not come fully on. Folks were screaming, whistling and making noise for more. Hardly anyone left. I stayed as the house lights were not fully on so that told me it was not over. You know when it's over when all the lights go on.

Prince and the band eventually came back out and did 3 or 4 more songs and then it was over.

That's great! I love when patience and love gets their goodies lol

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

Edmonton Sun, Concert Review by Mike Ross http://www.edmontonsun.co...-brings-it

If Prince came knocking on your door, would you let him in? Ask any fan who was wowed at Tuesday’s self-indulgent concert in Rexall Place and you can guess the answer: Sure, where do we sign up?

The world’s funkiest Jehovah’s Witness brought the hits and a whole lot more to a nearly sold-out house at Rexall Place for his “Welcome 2 Canada” tour. Showing flashes of brilliance throughout, the Artist Formerly Known as the Artist Formerly Known as Prince delivered a solid if somewhat scatterbrained show replete with all the hits fans know and love. Or at least pieces of all the hits fans know and love. Minus some of the pre-Jehovah material that’s too nasty for church, of course. So, no Sexy Motherf---er.

But we heard just about every other steamy, sexy soul tune Prince is known for, some merely knocked out as snippets in medleys. As he shouted at one point, “I have too many hits!” He sure does. And the man sure knows how to blow his own horn. He knows how to ham it up. We heard guitar solo after guitar solo. People blown away by his radioactive funkiness or amazing voice might forget that Prince is also an excellent guitarist who can rock out with the best of them. The audience was encouraged to sing along to the well-known hits at every opportunity.

Going on an hour past his scheduled start time – typical – and after some apparent confusion with the lights, Prince finally appeared to open with Let’s Go Crazy. His trio of back-up singers, who went for the Earth Mother look, sprinted around the stage to pump up the crowd. With the tempo and energy bars set at their peak, the double-time tent revival feel continued with Delirious, which in turn segued into an almost continuous barrage of pure groove. A quick pause and a ballad – Take Me With U – and it was into a 10-minute funk workout where Prince’s secret weapon was unleashed: Saxophonist Maceo Parker.

The only problem with the show was a lack of focus, as if Prince was trying to stuff all the (clean) sides of his entire career into two hours and still get to jam and do crowd calisthenics on top of it. It was confusing, sometimes cluttered. And just because you’re in a hockey arena doesn’t mean you have to have the crowd sing along to EVERY song. The truncated versions of favourite tunes and Prince’s almost constant patter – he said “Edmonton!” about 100 times – also tended to distract from the musicality of the event. He had all these great players up there and they sometimes came off like it was the Prince Karaoke Night. And while he may have “too many hits,” there was still somehow room to cover KC and the Sunshine Band and several other excerpts from other ancient disco tunes. Who is this guy trying to be – everything to everybody?

But for every flaw came a spine-tingling moment. The showmanship was top notch. Memorable moments included a version of Play That Funky Music in honour of the mad dancing mojo of some white boy from the audience brought on stage, and Purple Rain – ending the main set with an explosion of silver confetti.

Two encores followed, the last after the lights had already gone up with the cheering crowd refusing to leave – for a soulful rendition of Nothing Compares 2U, and then the funk fired up again.

At that point, any grumbling was silenced and all was forgiven: Prince may keep his title of “soul superstar” after all.

When Prince was telling everyone to bring out their cell phones I pulled mine out. I took 2 pics on my iphone, of course I was keeping my eyes open for those old men. No flash and being discreet. I don't think they turned out well. After a bit those old men, who helped folks locate their seats, were at it again admonishing anyone they saw taking pics. Yeah, one of those dudes looked at me like hmmm eek

A couple of Edmonton's finest (aka the popo) were standing and watching the concert more than they were watching over the crowd. I bet they got to see the concert for free being as they were on duty.

EDMONTON - “This is my party and I play what I want to,” declared Prince midway through his Tuesday night set at Rexall Place.

No surprises there; the Purple One has always gone his own way in concert, refusing to bow to anyone’s idea of what a Prince show should be. Usually, what he wants to play is his latest record, nostalgia be damned; Tuesday night he seemed determined to be a crowd pleaser despite his claim.

This was evident right from the start, when he and his band burst immediately into an extended medley of Let’s Go Crazy into Delirious, eventually landing on a slow jam that cut R Kelly at his own game.

This was after an hour-long delay that saw the audience tantalized by lights going up and down, as though Prince was going to be making his way on at any minute. From there on it was a greatest hits package that made its way through just about every essential song you ever wanted to hear, which was deeply gratifying, if puzzling. I mean, it’s hard to fuss over a version of 1999 that sounds exactly like how you’d imagine 1999 would sound live when you were 18 and the song was just hitting the airwaves, but you had to wonder what exactly was going through Prince’s head.

But this isn’t a complaint; Prince giving us the show we always wanted was a dream come true. He certainly wasn’t stinting on showmanship; he’s easily the most charismatic performer this writer has ever seen and his every gesture was amplified by screams from the crowd of 12,000, a good portion likely reacting to his early plea that when they went home that night, “somebody take him with them.” Who could resist such sexual directness? He’s the most perfectly formed elf since Ronnie James Dio, dressed in clothes that simultaneously recall Tron and Sun Ra and his every move proclaimed that fact. The band was fantastic, locking on an irresistible groove, shaking it down for all it was worth.

As amazing as it was there was still an occasional false note ringing through at points. At least one observer thought she caught a certain amount of contempt on Prince’s face when he launched into Play That Funky Music White Boy, pulling out saxophonist Maceo Parker for an extended version. It was definitely strange, even if he pulled it off as effortlessly as he pulled off Purple Rain, a false set closer that set up a long encore that nailed a few more old hits.

That's what it would seem from the caption from the person who posted it.

Interesting that there was just the one outfit last night. In Winnipeg he wore the black suit for most of the show,

changed into the white pantsuit towards the end of the set and did a third change into the Andy wearing Versace shirt for the final encore!

Did he forget to repack his suitcase when he was leaving MPLS? hmmm lol
