God, PLEASE don't let him play Extraloveable. The revamped version was a monstrosity, and I want him to just forget it even exists!! But yeah, what has happened to those songs (though Gingerbread Man was only new lyrics over Question of U music)? I can't wait for this hits-laden bullshit tour to be over with so that he can hopefully get back to doing some real performances!

i'm just saying ..he get funkendoob 2 say there are so many songs he's rehearsed and so many versions of extraloveable yet night in, night out same shit

Hey, he played "Get Wild"...that was different lol

Actually, for the Halifax show I told myself that since he took couple of days off, he'd be in great shape and give a fantastic show... But it was actually the less good (I can't say worst, hey it's still Prince) show of the 3 I saw of this tour, Montreal 2 days after and Ottawa the day after Montreal being the others... So I guess he's better when he's in the rush of concerts instead of when he just had couple of days off...

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

Great review, thanks! There's nothing quite like hearing first hand reports (the next best thing to being there). Did you have fun or what? Then to top it off, you saw his diamond and pearls. eek Priceless.

Ok, hubby and I get there and we got to stand inside the foyer before they opened the doors to Rexall. There was a sign posted to the inside doors to the facility that stated that no cameras blah blah or you will get ejected blah blah blah. They opened the doors to the inside about roughly 7:15 p.m. Hubby had to use the washroom facilitites while I hit the merch table.

Picked up some guitar pics and concert programs that I got requests to pick up for some orgers. Got me a T-shirt cool - They were selling raspberry berets too giggle

Hubby gets a beer and I get my coke and off we go locating our seats. When we get there we find out from the person helping that our tix have to be exchanged eek eek So tix are exchanged and with our new location we go find that. Once there we sit down.

The show was fantastic. Shelby, and the girls were awesome. Andy Allo you could tell was a sweetheart and John Blackwell was banging on his drums!!! Maceo was great!!! He was last here with Prince during the ONA tour. Was nice to hear him again.

Prince.... well what can I say. funkyspectacular. He got the whole place getting their funk on.

At some point Prince tells folks to get their cell phones out. Which was wtf?? When prior to that part of the show there was security, and they had old men who are in their 60's showing folks where there seats are and then having to chase after people. I felt sorry for them having to go up flights of steps to stop folks from taking pics.

Prince got some folks to dance on the stage. One woman that got picked was dancing all over the stage. She was tall with high heels and Prince did not get too close neutral Looked like she was going to dance on the stage all night and never get off. Andy eventually took her back to the stairs and security helped the woman dancer off the stage.

While doing his bum moves/wiggles during singing Kiss. The camera was on his butt wiggling drool drool I was screaming and hubby just rolled his eyes lol Then when the camera was on the frontal view of his moves his shirt went up with the movement of his arms and I swear I saw his balls and a hard on eek lick giggle Well, the camera was pretty zoomed in enough to tell that part lolol.

Bye the end of the night I had no voice left!!

When you don't have a case, yell RACE!

The "diamonds and pearls" as you call it was on the big screen for all to see and it was not a 10 second shot either. It was sure long enough to study intensely to make sure I was not just imagining things giggle

Don't know if anyone else noticed it whistling I know my hubby did but never said a peep giggle

There's a clip of 'Shockadelica' up on Andy Allo's FB page from the 'sampler' segment. Was that at this show or tonights? She says thank you Edmonton but nobody mentioned it.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Curses! Prince is toruring us by getting stricter on people filming his shows. lol A 20 second short film of this exact moment or even a screen shot would make this stressful finals week all the more pleasurable for me. neutral

i'm very skeptical about this band playing get wild tho ..i mean john can bring it like micheal b can ..just worried about ida bringing it like sonny

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

It was probably some lame ass, non-energetic version, though I'll have to wait until I hear this particular to make a final judgment. This band he's got now completely sucks. There is NO attitude in the music they play. None. At. All.

lol That made me laugh smile

pat It'll be ok... Maybe seeing it would have given you sleepless nights and you would have had a lack of concentration at your exams... let's think that lol

You did know I was being sarcastic with that basically one jam that is not in the usual set list out of the 20-40 songs that could be included!!!!! razz lol

u may have but still i have my doubts on how funky it can be with this current band.

Does anyone know where I can find a complete and accurate setlist for this show?

I was absolutely blown away by both the showmanship and the musicianship. Interesting, though, reading the reviews on Ticketmaster, a lot of people seemed unhappy with the show, the biggest beefs being that Prince came on stage late (is this your first concert? Everybody and their grandma does that) and having too short of a set with too many encores (which I would agree with, but that's my only qualm and a minor one). The funny thing is, I didn't get that vibe from the crowd at all. It was one of the best Edmonton concert audiences I have seen -- they were both enthusiastic but well-behaved.

Alright so I just got home from a freaking Prince concert in my great hometown of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and I can honestly say it was the most fun I've had at a show in a long while.

I decided to splurge and purchase a VIP package because, you know, it's Prince. Along with some interesting freebies (super soft shirt, commemorative tickets/VIP passes, symbol necklaces, etc.), we were supposed to have early entry into the venue. Not sure why but there was only one queue through which they let people in and it moved INCREDIBLY slowly. We were supposed to get in at 6:45 but probably finally got in like a half hour later. It was a little annoying and VIP Nation really dropped the ball but it's just a case of first world problems so I didn't really care. People behind me in line couldn't shut up about it though, one old frog (ugly old woman, not a slur against French people) was calling it the worst investment she's ever made and I played the world's smallest violin for her.

Showtime was listed as 8pm but it didn't get under way until 8:58. No opening acts and that was no real problem on my part. Don't recall every single song but I'll try my best.

Opened with Let's Go Crazy, interspersed with Delirious. Moved into 1999. That was followed by my personal fav Shhh (actually it might have been Take Me With U after 99 but Shhh was in the first few). Literally no one around me knew it but I was jumping up and down I was so stoked. At about this point I don't have complete recall but I'll list the ones I remember for sure in no particular order.

Get Wild (I know!)

Kiss

Raspberry Beret

Don't Stop Till You Get Enough/Cool Medley

Controversy

Cream

Jughead (just kidding)

When Doves Cry

Nothing Compares 2 U

Alphabet Street

Hot Thing

Snippet of Darling Nikki

I Would Die 4 U

Purple Rain

Play That Funky Music

Take Me With U

Sign O The Times

DMSR

Snippet of A Love Bizarre (yay!)

Probably forgetting some but that's what I recall at the current time. Betcha By Golly Wow was not played. That's my second Prince show, also went to the 12/29/10 show in NYC. This show had more unexpected treats than the NYC show and though there was an emphasis on the hits there was stuff for the hardcore purple heads too. The crowd was electric and it was loud from start to finish. A lot of people who only knew the hits but that can be expected. All in all awesome show that I won't soon forget. I also made eye contact 2 or 3 times so that was pretty cool too!

Great thanks for your review, not much surprises but I'M VERY happy you got Shh... It's one of my fav too and I was just in awe when he played it at the Metropolis this summer heart

Was Get Wild mostly a jam like in Halifax or was it entire song?

Thanks again for th review biggrin

[Edited 12/14/11 6:09am]

Apologies for the late reply...been incredibly busy lately. Get Wild was more of a jam, not like the song very much. And you are most welcome!
