wow even princevault still doesn't have a complete setlist

it's good he's doing gold again but ughh he flows right into purple rain after that

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

i noticed what is up on the vault right now is incorrect.

they have the sampler set listed as being at the end and it was actually right at the start. maybe about the 3rd or 4th song...

does anyone have the proper setlist?? the show was so off the chain!! but it was soooo different that the setlists at all the other shows.

it was actually my first time seeing prince and it was incredible! a really special night!!

yeah it seems that the vault has been semi laxed about this tour where as other legs it's been right on the nose or updated as the show has been going on

flipped everything around, The girls sang the opening song then came Gold followed by Purple Rain. The sampler piano set was very early in the show, with some of the songs really fleshed out. Most of all of When Doves Cry, new tease with Love and Forever in my life. The show was sorta backwards from the Toronto shows that I saw and the was very cool. The last thing to say not very many cover as in Toronto either, but still all the greatest hits that we have been seeing. Over 2 hours but ended @10:50. Also real fun drivin in the snow.

I thought it was a GREAT show--wonderful energy from the crowd. I'm one of the ones who has seen him NUMEROUS times over many years (since the 1999 tour) in all kinds of settings and although this wasn't one of the better shows I've experienced, it certainly wasn't a bad show at all.

The Labatt Centre was a great place to see him--not really a bad seat in the house, as some had mentioned. And the prices weren't too crazy--I definitely got my $141 worth.

here's the review from the london free press

http://www.lfpress.com/en...72376.html

On Monday night, the House of Green was the place where purple reigned.

With U.S. rock and funk royalty -- in the form of superstar Prince -- ruling the John Labatt Centre on Monday night, the jammed downtown London arena and about 8,790 fans were his to command.

"Is this your first time seeing me?" Prince asked early on. Huge cheers signified it was, for thousands. "You know how this works -- everybody sing together."

Prince had arrived after an opening number by three of his female backup singers. He entered with a regal stroll to the front of the stage, which was shaped in the form of that weird logo he used when he was "the artist formerly known as Prince."

More than 90 minutes later, he was still in magnificent, funky form as the main set took in a spectacular duet with backup singer-star-of-her-own Shelby J. on Nothing Compares to U. That ended with Prince atop his massive faux piano.

Then it was gear-shifting time on the way to the finale with a touch of Delirious and the crowd happy to identify 1999. Then, there was a tender moment with his guitarist as the Little Red Corvette was urged to "slow down," over and over.

After that, it was off to Encoreland, past deadline, but with about 30 minutes of Princely excellence and sexy energy still filling the house.

Among the intriguing covers of the night were the three female backup singers, who began the show taking centre stage again for Sarah McLachlan's Angel. Like much of Monday's music, it was gospel-flavoured.

There was plenty of funk, too, with sax god Maceo Parker given room to move all over extended jams. Actually, the House of Green could qualify as the House of Sax this year with Parker and Bob Seger's sax hero Alto Reed doing their best to turn the place into one big roadhouse.

His first outfit was a glittering gold jacket with massive tails, cream-coloured pants, a loose purple (what else?) top and flashy boots. He later went to a sleeveless, mostly white outfit.

A guitar was handed up to Prince by the 10-minute mark. He didn't really use it, except as a dance prop, until an extended visit through Purple Rain. "Y'all don't mind if I play my guitar," he asked, keeping the questions flowing from the stage. Like the rest of Prince's queries, there really was no need for an answer.

He then offered a long, brilliant guitar raveup and since the audience was duetting en masse all night, thousands helped out on When Doves Cry. The one-two count-in produced an encore-worthy roar from fans.

Then the screens looming over the stage stopped showing tranquil nature scenes. A violent storm with stellar sound effects took over and there was a hint of the purple magic to come.

"Lun-den, can you hear me?" Prince asked early on, using a Princely pronunciation he'd return to time and again.

London, by any pronunciation, would love to see His Purpleness back.

Add the song "U Will Be with Me" to the set-list, I specifically recall Prince singing this and gesturing to a girl sitting in front of me in VIP. There maybe a few discrepancies with the set-list but after you add the song I just mentioned, it should be improved. If anyone else out there can add to the order, we'd appreciate it. I was trying to take note of the entire set-list in the proper order on my cell phone and nearly got tackled by security when they thought I was taking pictures, that's another story.

I thought the exact same thing - he came out looking like he just woke up - all puffy face...I was afraid the show would be really tame - NOT! The energy flowing in the place was incredible. A lot more energy from the crowd than in the Friday night TO show, and even though it wasn't as long, it was better in some ways. Loved Gold, ? of U and 4ever in my life, loved that there weren't hardly any covers, and loved that it was mostly all about him instead of the band.

It was my 16 yr old son's first time seeing him. I've been trying to get him to appreciate Prince for what he is, but he never really seemed that interested. Little did I know, all I needed to do was take him to a concert! He's totally hooked now! He was talking about it all the way home (1 1/2 hr drive in the freakin' snow!) about what a great guitar player he is and how he never knew... Almost made me teary!

That's cute.😄

I'd love to hear The Word live too someday... Well, just like so many other songs I srtill didn't get a chance to experience live smile

you got a pretty nice setlist in London! I'm totally jealous actually, Gold, The One and the ? of U are in my top 10 of songs I wish to hear live.

Sounds like that was a grrrreat show! biggrin

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''
If you can't be nice to someone on the net, you probably ain't worth much talking to in real life either.

Reviewer embarrasses himself with "faux piano".

i don't think he should be embarrassed...

that thing on the stage that looks like a piano is not a real piano.

you can see during the sampler set that he's triggering the drum machines/sequences and not playing the piano at all...i was in the front row and the 'piano' was right in front of me.

i think it's likely it's the body of a piano with some sort of midi controller put into place where the piano keyboard would be.

if there's been anything written about this in the press or from a reliable source, i'd love to read more about it. the technology at the gig was fierce to say the least!

and if anyone knows what sort of keyboard rig mr hayes uses, i'd love to know about that as well...

Feel free to add the song and modify the list.
