Why the hell are people reporting that his sister was there?
I think people are a little confused, here. He was joking when he made comments about his mother and his sister about the dancers on stage.
Andy was joking too, guys. | |

So it's almost a week later but I still feel the exact same as when I wrote this. I hope everyone had just an amazing time at the show as I know I did, reading your posts it seems like you did!Describing the Indescribable: PRINCEMost artists allow pictures, audio recording, and video, whether or not they actually prefer you not to use these devices I’m not sure, they never say, but in Prince’s case he always says that there should be absolutely none of the above, I respect that and understand why. No picture, audio recording or video would ever come close to capturing even an ounce of the feeling and experience that is Prince anyway. Even words can not describe it, but I am going to try my best to.
8:30 or a few minutes after came and the lights dimmed and the crowd went absolutely crazy. Smoke came from the stage, the outer rim lights flashed and Prince rose from the center of his signature symbol stage and in that moment I swear my heart burst with pure excitement, joy, happiness and amazement, I was about to see the one person I never thought in a million years I would see live.
I’ve never been one that had to be front row and center close enough to feel the sweat drip off the performer or have a chance of touching them or them touching me so I was perfectly happy in section 31 Row O with a full view of the stage and Prince and I definitely felt it as he opened the show with Controversy. That’s the thing though about a true artist when they sing and perform no matter how close or how far away you are from them they make you feel it in your whole body and most of all in your heart, you feel closer to them then ever.
Prince blew through around six songs without stopping. The lights on the stage changed and transformed song to song, smoke shot up from precise points in the staging. The 53 year old danced around the 360 degree stage and had the party going like no one I have ever seen in my life.
At one point it look liked Prince took a minute to fix his hair slightly, I felt like screaming “YOUR HAIR IS FINE PRINCE!” Ha! Ha! Of course he would never have heard me. : P He looked absolutely amazing, I’ll never be able to explain my attraction to Prince and nor should I have to really, everyone likes something different right?
Prince sang one of my favorites A Million Days which I did not think he would sing and I think my heart melted. I remember actually placing my hand over my heart as the he played the guitar; the feeling is something I can’t describe. I am so happy he sang it.
He also sang Raspberry Beret which I think I have been singing in my head pretty well all night and all this morning. Such a catchy tune it gets stuck in your head for days. The ladies sitting in front of us all had on their raspberry berets so I imagine they were thrilled when that one came on.
Prince’s band and backup singers were amazing. Really I wouldn’t call his backup singers backup though as Prince lets them shine just as much as he does which is nice to see. They are excellent and had the crowd going pretty wild too.
Prince has been doing this for years and you can tell. Though I have always said he is one of those people that is just born with it. But he knows his stage extremely well and how to work it, his sound crew, stage crew, lights crew and so on has everything down to a T, which makes everything all that much better.
When I heard the first few notes of another song Prince was about to play I knew right away I was about to experience one of my top 10 must hear live songs, in fact this one is probably number 1 on that list . Purple Rain. It’s hard to exactly describe what I felt in this moment as I was overcome with emotions that I don’t think I’ve ever experienced watching any other artist. At one point I thought I was going to accidentally whack my mom in the arm as I excitedly pointed to Prince’s stage where during the song confetti burst out showering the pleased crowd as if we were all in a giant snow globe. The spectacular voice singing Purple Rain and the guitar playing just shot right through me and exploded in my heart; it was enough to make my life. The one song I’ve most wanted to see and hear performed live and I can now say that I have. Wow. Surreal.
The whole night was an expierence of a lifetime. And I'm still wondering if it was all just a dream.
So you ask, just how do you describe the indescribable? You can’t! You can try but you honestly can't. It’s something you have to experience for yourself. You have to let the moment consume you entirely and let the music flood your heart and move your soul and then you have to hold on and remember forever the time that you saw Prince. I know I will.
