I'm back at my computer and still somewhere in the clouds.

It was my first P-concert ever, and the best concert in general I ever saw in my whole life (Im mid-40).

I don't know where to begin. I was about 5 meters from his catwalk, and could see and hear everything and everyone very clearly. Prince was in a good mood, lots of smiles and laughters, talking to the audience (I had a feeling he was trying to make it up to the swiss fans because of Genevas fiasko... although it wasn't his fault).

I loved the stage, the light show, the sound was a bit blurry in the beginning, but got better later.

I can't remember all of the songs, nor the order, but there were

Gold

Purlpe Rain

Lets go crazy / Delirious

1999

Lille Red Corvette

Raspberry Beret (Andy did a painting during this song, while wearing a beret wink

U got the Look

If I was your gf

Kiss

Diamonds and Pearls

Cream

Alphabet Streat

Do Me Baby

Empty Room

When Doves cry

Hot Thing

Nothing Compares 2 U

Condition of the heart

and I'm sure I forgot some.

Epic moment? Must have been his dance during/after Kiss. The stadium almost collapsed after that. (There's a vid on the tube of that moment, but I don't know if I,m allowed post the link...)

And of course, the way he kept screaming "Switzerlaaaaaaaaaaand!!!"

I've seen quite a few concerts in Hallenstadion, and I know it's not easy to make Swiss audiences bounce and yell the way he did it yesterday. So yeah, it was a good concert wink

If I had to critisize ONE thing, it would be the visuals. Since I'm a vj myself, I espacially payed attention to these, and I found that the VJ-guy kind of repeated them after about half the show... As beatiful as they were, he played them back and forth, espacially that seismograph-thing ... As if he didn't have enough material, or he just didn't cope with the fact that prince's concerts are spontaneous and unpredictable... but that was just an impression of me.

So now I got a few vids I took with my iPhone, but I'm not sure I'll be able to show them to you, coz they seam to delete them on the tube, right? I have a personal webspace where I could upload them to, would that be allowed to post the links then?

no. Although I'm not gonna stop you.

Here, how much of a 'full version' of Diamonds and Pearls was played? Guitar solos and everything?

I have been to prince concerts in Nice last year in summer, in Milan in winter and yesterday evening in Zurich (I have found one ticket just in the morning)...I ave to say that yesterday's concert was the best of the 3...Prince was really in a good mood and he played some songs not played in the other concerts (sign of the times, hot thing...)..2,5 hours of real funky music...at least I was happy to have spent 140 CHF for the ticket...

No, that was only a short piano part, if I remember correctly.

^^No, even though they handed him the guitar and everything was lining up for it the sucker decided not to play the solo... that was a bit of bummer, I really had hoped for the solo. But still, he opened the show with Gold, what I was hoping for, so I'm happy!

just got back from Zurich.I went with two friends who were not fan and knew maybe 3-5 songs only... they had a blast and praised him on his showmanship, his voice (they couldn't believe that he had such a beautiful voice), that he was happy and smiling on stage - not bored at all after 30+ years of career.

the best gift for me is that they will come back to his shows in the future!! and they are now fans cool

we were at the end of the catwalk, front row, just the prefect place to be biggrin

one of my friend had the chance to go on stage twice - she was wearing the black short outfit - it was her first show!! she was very very happy and said it was amazing to see people waving hands/arms from the stage!

then on the second time they brought people up I went as well .... couldn't believe it! so much emotion that are still there now! just waow.

I went to copenhaguen and between the 3 shows he sung songs that I was not hoping to hear live - it was a delight!

just one word Prince: Thank you.

yes, thank you for giving us your all each time, seeing you having fun is just wonderful. thank you for the music and the quality of your shows. you are a true gift for people who loves music heart

I was so frustrated and unhappy after the Cologne Gig. It was a feeling between the lines. This couldn't be the end. So I started to look where I can see him again and luckily got the ticket for Zurich. I was so excited about that and again I'm between the lines but now happy. Although there is again an "Empty Room", because we do not know when we will see him again. But don't think about that right now, the wonderful evening will last for a while and hopefully the vid on utube will last as well so that we all will never forget the night in Zurich 2011.

In short, I think this may have been the best concert I have ever been to.
Amazing. So amazing.
It was like a concert and aftershow rolled into one. So many amazing songs I have never heard live. The highlight for me was definitely Empty Room.
Kind of can't say much else now, a bit recovering, a bit in shock. I've never seen a crowd so expertly whipped into a such frenzy, the atmosphere was the best I have ever seen, the music was sheer perfection. Great fun.
cool

You can't ask for sources on the org. That is a sure way to get this thread shut down. NPG police and all, ya know? wink

Ah, I forgot another epic moment. During Cream, he took some folks onstage and tried to make them dance side to side. Some of them didn't quite get the move - his facial expression was just priceless as he tried to make them understand the steps...

(again, there's a clip of it on the tube, check for yourself...)

Wow, just seen the video. Awesome, you guys seem to had a lot of fun in Zurich. biggrin Why was he pulling that face when people started to dance after he showed them what to do? I cannot see what happened only that both Andy and Shelby suddenly started to laugh and Prince gave this omg hmm omfg disbelief look. What happened there? Was someone doing something completely wrong? lol

Most of the dancers were turned towards him (6:56 of the clip) and looked at him, while he explained the step. Of course, he wanted them to turn around and to face the crowd (which he shows with his right hand at 7:11) But they kept staring at him, with the back to the crowd. I think he just couldn't believe how unflexible and stiff some Swiss fans can be... (neither could I, I burst into laughters just like Shelby when that happened!)

LOL yeah.. that was funny! He had quite some funny expressions when he was looking at the audience! Later when the second set of people was on stage and we were on the step to the mainstage all looking at him, like 1,5 metres away from him, instead of turning to the audience, he was like "I'm getting a little selfconscious here"... and at the end of the show, when he was about to leave we all were on that step again, he kinda bowed down to us looked at us all, made some photosnapping motion with his hands, turned around and left. wink

Also Andy was cute, when she started to make that drawing... she wrote "Zurick" on that paper and then stood there looked at it, thinking, then made the k into an h, looked at it again, quickly tore that paper off and started anew! lol

Yeah! Perfect big arena show for me! Great audience. Prince in a good mood. No horns (ok, I do like the original NPG horns and Mr Leeds). --> NO horn solo in every track! hell yeah!. No Renato. No related opening acts (Ok, I want THE TIME). I like Ida more than Ronda. No prayers to Jehovah. No cover versions (ok I can live with that MJ tribute). It's 10 years that I've seen Prince the last time (Rainbow Ch in London Hammersmith). I've been in MPLS a few times. Saw some good aftershows. Even a studio session.

BUT Zurich is definitaly one of my BEST Prince concerts I've ever seen. I went to the concert without any expectations. He's still the man. For me the sound was very ok. Highlight for me: Empty Room,Under the Cherry Moon on Piano, Let's work, maybe some more..... and of corse THE TIME tracks!

And to all the Andy Allo haters up in here: She is beautiful and funky. Yeah she ain't no Levi or Scott. But I think... she has a great influence on Prince!!!!!!!! He looks good and happy. She makes him sexy again. THANK YOU ANDY!

That was a great night and I've never been at a concert in Hallenstadion with such a crowd and that kind of music! It was DAMN funky. He's really the only original Funkateer playing in front of 13.000 peeps nowadays!

For the aftershow: The aftershow was in HALLENSTADION!!!!!!!!!!! HELL YEAH! For most of the fans that were at the main concert wasn't any place at snobby Kaufläuten anymore anyway!!!! A lot of people reserved tables, lounges and dinners. There was only few place for people that support the artist at the main concert (the fans!). They really think that a Prince aftershow is a standard! But it is a privilege. Some of us were hustling, waiting and travelling long time to catch one of these! Funkateers go always to the main SHOW.... the rest is bonus! That's why it's called aftershow!

Prince looks very good for 53 or what! And he's one of the most impressive guitar players for me!

Thank you, Mr Nelson for this ultra show! AND thanks to all the fans and supporters at Hallenstadion for all the singing, yelling, handclapping, footstompin and whistleling! You supported the man in a major way and the show turned into a unforgetable evening. P went to the max!

And special thanks to Cassandra for hittin that P-Funk riff in one of her solos! Tribute to George Clinton the King of Funk! One Nation. That made the evening complete for me!
