Dublin regrets

This is in no way a ploy to increase the number of "Dublin" threads, but are there any orgers who have deep regrets, like me, about NOT going to Malahide???

after hop park and seeing the dublin reports, zero regrets here

in fact i was very pleased i didn't go and waste money on flights, hotel, tickets etc in the hope of a different more amazing setlist and aftershow

at least at hop park we got good weather, a few support acts like aloe blacc and saw a bunch of orgers etc

Man you don't get it do you, it ain't about weather is it plus it was a fine day in malahide although god supplied us with 5 mins of Purple Rain :)

Prince could have played malahide in a hurricane it wouldn't matter, the orgers were looking for the ladder 0(+>

don't fret...concerts u havent been able to get to are always seen thru purple tinted specs...u factor out the Irish crowd which can often be drunk, yapping thru songs they don't know and u love....taking photos and texting.... and the reality is less than the dream:-D

* awaits replies from several nutter fans* biggrin

i wish i saw rog as i watched a couple of the fucking amazing quality bootleg videos and it looked like one of the greatest live shows ever. better than berlin and even more visually amazing than the original tour. to see it in the flesh would have been fucking brilliant. it's just the cost of travel and hotels on top of ticket. if it was the real floyd that's another story. prince is one of the few i pull the stops out for. maybe one day rog will come further up north. dave did and i was there

i was listening to the paris prince show on the way to hop park and it was a much better gig. in fact all the europe shows bar germany seemed better. hop park and dublin just seemed similar hits shows which we've all seen before. better hits shows than many/most of the o2 shows though

Almost one week later and my purple high still hasnt subsided, yes dublin was jammed with hit after hit, whats all this but yeh my show had a better set list, trust me my friends beauty and brilliance is in the ear of the beholder , dig?

Yes it was because PRINCE was on such a high for the whole gig, this was my 7th PRINCE gig and have never seen him in such a playful joyful mood, and why, because as my friend above stated the Irish crowd went into frenzy and didnt stop dancing singing chanting for 2 hr 30 mins

PRINCE fed off the crowd and put on the best performance i have ever seen!!!

this is my first post after dublin, and have to say that malahide gig was the best gig i have ever seen from anyone. It was billed as a greatest hits gig, and thats what he delivered. The whole day was a huge buzz, from the prince burger for lunch, the 2hr soundcheck we witnessed to the whole 2 and a half hrs gig. Prince seemed to enjoy it so much, and being 3rd row from front capped it all off for me. Also how funny was the guy with glasses cocking up the one and only chance he'll get to play prince's hohner!
AND ON THE 7TH DAY OF THE 6TH MONTH..GOD CREATED FUNK!!!

As I said afore, I booked ma flight only Friday morning & didny have a pit ticket. Something in ma water just knew I was to be at that bloody concert, & Halleluja!! Thank God I went. Folks must've heard that nuts Scottish chick asking Everybody there if they had a pit ticket for sale. I guess I must've asked over 300 folk that day!! I wasn't caring a jot. Asked tourists, asked shop assistants, bar workers, bouncers, hell I even asked those 2 charity guys who were collecting sponsor money, twice!! Ha ha Didn't get my ticket till nearer 5pm, general standing just would not have been kewl. Waiting in the queue to get in was awesome.

Musicology on soundcheck, think I was the only one dancing in that queue- what was wrong wi u dudes!!! Only saw one other guy tapping his feet. Heard Prince's voice over the soundcheck & nearly passed out with excitement! Met 3 lovely guys in front of me & Jenny & Paul who were so nice. But the atmosphere in Malahide b4 the concert was buzzin!! Duffy's pub- Fu o' Prince fans, Prince videos blaring on the tv's, I was in Prince Heaven! I'm sure the G&T helped 2. Listen, I've unleashed the purple funk in me that I laid to rest 16 year ago, for my own sanity. That concert was theeeee best show of my life! Nothing to do wi song choice ( loved them all ) cuz he changed them, made them fresh & funky & new & I have found great love for songs I was once Jaded wi & wud often skip.

Hypnotic brass ensemble were so jazzy- Loved them & got us all in the mood. Then the noise started, smoke came bellowing out from the stage, firecracker sounds popped & there he was, camera in hand. My stomach was in a ball. Not happiness or shock, rather perplexity. To me he didn't look very happy, as if something was on his mind, cud see it across his brow. Gold- wow I just froze, taking it all in. Think I was numb, & unsure of him, askin if he'd changed, was it actually the same Prince I saw 1995? After Gold, I let rip & didn't stop shakin ma money maker all night- Mind blowing!!! He was like some musical super-being, guitar, bass, piano, that funny keyboard thing, his dancing, his sweet voice! At times he somehow reminded me of a child studying it's instrument, learning more about it, don't know why. He was LOVING it big time! The happiness just shone from him. But he showed us what he's made of that night, love, funk & lots of deep soul.

Unique, ya wud have enjoyed it, u couldnt have failed to have enjoyed it. Just don't miss the next Glasgow show for nothing....

By the ways- any more on those whispered rumours at aw?

It was an amzing day. It was like all the BS over the years just faded away and we were left with 20-30 thousand people who wanted to have some fun. Walking through the park on the way in, listening to Prince bark orders at his collegues during the soundcheck. It was like being back in the o2. But better somehow.

I have seen a lot of prince gigs over the years. Pearls, Gold, Nude, ahem..newpower, most of the o2 gigs and this stands up there as one of the best. It wasn't his setlist, which apart from Gold was the same list of hits and stuff, it was the athmosphere. It really was fantastic. Thanks to all the fans who dressed up in Purple, the Prince tracks belting out of every cafe and pub, everyone in a big prince party mood. Amazing...

and eireboy wasn't there.

I have to say that I have been to more than 30 PRINCE concerts and this one was VERY special - PRINCE went out of his way to make up for the cancelled concert in Dublin - the show was brilliant but we can't go to all the concerts and when you realise what a great concert it was you feel regret - just look forward to the next concert - every concert is brilliant - don't live with regret - just look forward to the next concert - I am.
